Just found out I'm going to be working, but would love to hear about your plans for the extra long weekend next month.

Getting married!

chipsandpeas · 02/05/2022 13:13

nothing

Badger1970 · 02/05/2022 13:14

DH is hopefully away on a golfing long weekend (he's having surgery 3 weeks before so it's very up in the air), so I'm really excited about having a few days peace. I think our DD's are all coming home on the Sunday afternoon and we'll either do afternoon tea or a BBQ depending on the weather.

I'll be happily sat in front of the TV for the rest of it as I'll be in charge of the remote control Grin in between long dog walks and gardening.

EspeciallyDistracted · 02/05/2022 13:17

Nothing much, the DCs will be in the middle of GCSEs and A levels, hopefully just a nice quiet weekend at home and watch some of the celebrations on the telly.

Bickles · 02/05/2022 13:19

On holiday in Northumberland. Nothing about the actual Jubilee though, just that it’s half term!

RaininSummer · 02/05/2022 13:20

Nothing planned. We were going to do a street party but it was too much planning and aggro.

Bretonbear · 02/05/2022 13:20

Nothing.

Furrbabymama87 · 02/05/2022 13:22

Nothing.

chisanunian · 02/05/2022 13:22

@Dontlickthat Congratulations!

We have a street party down our road on the Friday evening, and then I'm supposed to be helping out at two different events several miles apart on the Saturday afternoon... dunno how I'm going to manage that one.

Imabouttoexplode · 02/05/2022 13:22

Absolutely nothing. Local community are putting on a street party but that's not my idea of a good time, so won't be attending.

MinnieMountain · 02/05/2022 13:25

We’re in Grassmere as MIL wanted a family holiday in the Lakes for her 70th birthday.

FourChimneys · 02/05/2022 13:25

Lots of lovely things planned for the long weekend but none of them have anything to do with the jubilee. DH and I have no interest in it whatsoever.

TimBoothseyes · 02/05/2022 13:39

Nothing. I'd rather be working.

Dudds · 02/05/2022 13:55

Bugger all other than ongoing bits of DIY around the house. Maybe a daytrip somewhere if weather is OK.

I've no interest in the jubilee celebrations tbh. I'm just not interested in the royals really.

Gingernaut · 02/05/2022 13:58

Working.

LadyCatStark · 02/05/2022 13:59

A full weekend of old fashioned village activities. I don’t really care about the jubilee but I’m so excited for the activities, having moved from a village/ small town that never did anything community themed.

HeadacheEarthquake · 02/05/2022 14:00

Leaving the country with my best mate to lie on a beach til the whole revolting thing's over.

PennineWayinSlingbacks · 02/05/2022 14:02

Also a weekend of lovely village activities - barbeque, tea parties, dog shows etc, and wall to wall home made cake - really looking forward to it.

PennineWayinSlingbacks · 02/05/2022 14:03

I'm not in the Pennines, much further south.

ladygindiva · 02/05/2022 14:05

We are off to butlins! Kids school has 2 inset days after the Bank holiday, we are going to ask for the other 2 days off as we have booked Mon to Fri. If refused we will come back early. It was a fraction of the price of half term week.

SpindleInTheWind · 02/05/2022 14:05

I had a 'Fuck the Jubilee' badge when I was a teenager in 1977. For school, we were allowed to wear a badge with 'Stuff the Jubilee' on it in Eng. Lit. as the teacher was a raging anti-monarchist.

I think I'll recreate it, in honour of Her Majesty's devotion to Prince Andrew.

ShadowPuppets · 02/05/2022 14:09

I’m having my ELCS for DC2 on 18/05, so I’m hoping I might just be up to a bit of a walk by that stage. Never know, could wind up having a drink in the pub and all!

Nothing specifically patriotic though. I did a fair amount of celebrating for the 2011 Royal Wedding and the 2012 Diamond Jubilee, but that was mostly due to being in my early 20s and relishing any excuse for a weekend booze up in Green Park😆

PowerhouseOfTheCell · 02/05/2022 14:15

Going to my old managers wedding Halo its a good few hours away so I've booked a nice hotel for the night with breakfast included to sober me up

ArseInTheCoOpWindow · 02/05/2022 14:21

I would like a Jubilee 1977 style with the Sex Pistols personally.

FlySwimmer · 02/05/2022 14:24

Leaving the country until the whole weekend is over.
