Just found out I'm going to be working, but would love to hear about your plans for the extra long weekend next month.

Nothing, have no interest in the jubilee celebrations at all.

Alphabet1spaghetti2 · 02/05/2022 14:25

Possibly packing/cleaning etc for moving home. Or nothing.

Leaving the country until the whole weekend is over.

Me too!

JanetPluchinsky · 02/05/2022 14:27

I run a pub. We’re having bands/djs every night and then I’m doing a jubilee quiz. I just need to knuckle down and write the damn thing.

LadyOfTheCanyon · 02/05/2022 14:28

Working -which I'm very pleased about as I won't have to be party to seeing the whole revolting spectacle on tv/social media.

Saucery · 02/05/2022 14:28

Holiday cottage in the middle of nowhere with no WiFi and a tiny tv we won’t bother to put on. Bliss! Feel lucky to find it at relatively short notice.
I remember the 1977 Jubilee, with a great street party, but that’s a world away now and I’m not in the least bit interested in this one.

Do you want some question suggestions?

Marking exam papers.

ShadowoftheFall · 02/05/2022 14:38

Nothing. Not interested in royalty, and I bet it rains.

Itsbackagain · 02/05/2022 14:42

Nothing - just another weekend IMO.

On holiday in Jersey! But by accident as I did not take sufficient notice of the dates.

I am most excited. :)

name of the horse the Queen was riding at the 1981 birthday parade, when she was shot at.

Burmese. Black mare. Her Majesty rode her for 18 consecutive years.

BatshitCrazyWoman · 02/05/2022 14:47

It's one of my adult DCs 'big' (ends with a zero) birthday on one of the bank holiday days, which means that we can't do what he wants to do. Not a royalist, so apart from celebrating with him, fuck all else will be happening!

This is quite a good web site

www.royal.uk/history-jubilees

So you could devise:
Q. Which British monarch was the first to celebrate their 50 year jubilee with fireworks?
A. George III
Q. Which monarch refused to wear a crown for their golden jubilee procession?
A. Victoria (she wanted her bonnet and by god she had a bonnet)

Congratulations to all the forthcoming hatches and matches!

SunshineLollipopsAndRainbows · 02/05/2022 14:51

I have managed to wangle the whole week off but haven’t thought what we’re going to do for The Jubilee. Might have a patriotic themed afternoon tea with my parents but no street parties as we don’t know our neighbours.

Sailing down the Nile in Egypt. Bliss.

Bythepath · 02/05/2022 15:08

Will be on holiday in France - no jubilee here!

Raising a cuppa tea, in honour of the queen, while analysing, national defence aspects.

cushioncovers · 02/05/2022 15:18

Avoiding street parties that's for sure.
