New employee is a fake, where to go from here?

It's a large organisation and I just had to send off her paperwork, passport, things like that

She was given the job after her second interview last week.

However, she has emailed me these documents (fine), and her birth certificate says born in September 2002?

That makes her 19?

This is a problem because, for example, her CV says she was an Executive Assistant to a Director in 2018? When she would've been in school?!

I've asked HR, who haven't replied properly, I've asked them to call. But someone replied to my email of concern with 'so you don't want this new me ever of staff? Why not?'

What can actually be done about this?

DS born in March 02 and he also got grades 1-9 at GCSE. Also he had to be in education or apprenticeship until 19...

You can choose to work at 16 you don't have to go to college or do an apprenticeship

Not everyone has time to sieve through them all and tbh I only noticed it recently. Be kind to new users it can be hard to get to grips with this site especially with all the acronyms used

It takes seconds to click on 'view all' the OPs posts and skim read to look for updates from the first post.

Sometimes threads take a completely different path and what is an appropriate reply to the OP is really nasty and insensitive once the thread has moved on. Once a poster either died or received a terminal diagnosis and people were still telling her that it was going to all be ok and she'd live a long fun happy life.

She sounds like a liar and a fraud and not to be trusted. And really stupid to mess up so blatantly.

Probably quite difficult to forge things birth certificates though. Perhaps she is also a liar & a fraud, I don't necessarily think that means she can't do the job.

This isn’t about OP discriminating on the persons age.
This is about a person TELLING A LIE on a cv stating they have experience when they don’t. How can you be a PA when you are at school - as the OP says - at age 13- just not possible.

Well I’m going to say on my CV that I headlined at Woodstock seeing how it’s age discrimination to question how I could have done that given I’m clearly not old enough.

An Organisation I have used for many years had the lead partner retire and appointed a new one, within 3 months 2 other partners resigned and now half of the 20 strong team have now left .

Some EA jobs are difficult, some are easy. But all of them require you to be completely trustworthy with secrets and with money.

If (as is suspected but not proved) you've crossed the line from "bigging up your experience" to actively faking a reference and inventing jobs you never had then your honesty is so impaired that you cannot do that job.

Apprenticeship or traineeship could apply to most entry level jobs. You could be could a trainee estate agent or admin assistant etc which would meet the criteria

Madness isn't it? I've been reading this thread all day and even on page 31 people are still winding me up with their comments.
Imagine a huge well known company advertising for an Exec Assistant and giving the job to (in this case) a 13 year old who was still in school!
And the most recent posts insisting that you can easily drop out of school at 15 with no comeback. Maybe so but in this case that lady in question took her GCSE's and stated she didn't continue in further education. It's only the fact that she had to supply proof of ID which confirms her correct DOB that messed it up for her
There's no age discrimination going on here, no GDPR breaches. Just downright fraud and a CV where the majority of it is fabricated
As far as I can see the candidate interviewed well, seemed far older than her years but it turns out she's only 19
Thetefore there is no way on God's earth she held positions with such companies from the age of 13!!!
As for taking her on anyway and admiring her balliness as one people said, well I give up. Honestly give me strength. I don't know whether people are deliberately on the wind up, utterly stupid or just haven't read the whole thread
And there's me not applying for jobs that in reality I could probably do very well as I don't meet one or more of the essential criteria! This is with a fully traceable, referencable history since I left school many moons ago! Some people appear to have blagged their whole careers
Mind you I'd probably apply for something and they'd take on a 13 year old part time instead!

Totally agree, the company I work for even advertise posts I know I could probably do but I don't meet the essential criteria so don't apply.

Although yes the legislation says education or training till 18, it isn't enforced. 3 of mine have left education before 18. One went full time work, hated college, and has become a manager through sheer hard work, he is now 23.
Daughter left college at 17, full time work, is in a very good job, and works from home most of the time, original plan was uni but the pandemic put her off so she got a job
3rd child left education at 17, worked self employed with dad for a bit, careers checked on him but didnt intervene when told he was working full time. Its not very enforceable.

The government don't care as long as they aren't claiming benefits. Our company takes on Kickstarters which are 16 to 24 Yr olds. It's to give them 6mths work experience and get them off benefits and most do end up with permanent jobs. They do the same work we do for less pay.

From what I've read she's either lying about her age with a fake birth certificate, or lying about her experience, or lying about it all. It seems very "convenient" that her two first companies no longer exist. I would be calling her school, asking for exam results, dates, and a character reference and calling the employer who does exist as well for the same. Not using emails or numbers given by her but googling them and finding the real ones. I'd also seek out people who worked for the defunct companies and ask them if they remember her. Personally I would be very cautious about employing her.

Lots of people use friends to give a fake reference. Could be anyone answering that email not necessarily an old colleague or manager. I agree with you, I'd be ringing the company to see if she did ever work there

Sorry, but this is a really odd statement. To be clear, an EA is an assistant to an executive board member. The role isn't admin, nor a secretary or other personal assistant who just sets up a few meetings. For example, the EA to the chairman might visit a senior team member to find out the answer to some specific questions from the director and collate specific information for an urgent slide pack that they then create. Booking trips include coordinating people across multiple continents, booking meeting rooms as well as hotels, hire a driver and possibly assistant for the trip, visas, printing up agendas and creating an online folder of documents he needed to read before meetings (documents the EA has sourced from the senior team by talking about the types of meeting, goals and what's needed), etc.The role isn't secretarial work and nor is it like being a mum, it's being an extra pair of hands for a very senior person.

For those who aren't reading, the person backed out days ago.
