How much chocolate do you eat?

opalescent · 26/04/2022 20:53

I'm obsessed. More so before my period, but every day really.
I have chocolate daily, every evening. I bloody adore it. I don't eat huge quantities at a time- a family sized bar would last me up to a week.
Over Easter I had a crème egg every night for six nights in a row.
I eat otherwise very healthily and take good care of my teeth.

Should I just enjoy my chocolate habit, or am I eating too much?

Thanks all 😂 🍫

I eat an obscene amount! A minimum of a big bar or the bags of giant buttons every day

JurasicPerks · 26/04/2022 21:00

I would be a very happy lady if a family chocolate bar lasted a week!
I dont buy them very often, as I can eat them in 2 sittings.

tearinghairout · 26/04/2022 21:01

I used to sit on the sofa of an evening and scoff chocolate and drink tea - bliss! But DH had a health scare and began to eat more healthily, and made a fuss about how much sugar I was eating. So, rather than deny myself, I buy the really high percentage dark chocolate and have a couple of squares in the morning with coffee instead. That way I don't feel I'm denying myself but also don't get kept awake at night. I've given up the cuppa in the evenings too as that was associated with the chocolate. So in answer to your question, I'd say buy good quality, low sugar dark (you get used to it!) and have less. We know that guzzling it is bad for us so we need to find some willpower but can still enjoy it!

I also eat chocolate nearly every day - a bit more than you OP if it helps!

LapinR0se · 26/04/2022 21:01

2-3 squares of dark choc every day

Nosetickle · 26/04/2022 21:02

If it’s in the house then I can’t resist. I would say I eat it every day if not most days. I clean my teeth early evening to stop myself gorging on it but I pick pick pick pick at it all day working from home.

teaandtoastwithmarmite · 26/04/2022 21:02

I love chocolate but too much sugar does make me feel ill so I try to just have a bit and enjoy it. What's your favourite kind? I like the aero bars. And orange twirl.

nocoolnamesleft · 26/04/2022 21:03

Well, it depends. Are we talking about food grade chocolate, chocolate grade chocolate, or luxury grade chocolate? Because the answers would be too much, too much, and not enough.

PukkaP · 26/04/2022 21:03

I eat it about twice a year, but I eat loads of other unhealthy food. Just not keen on chocolate

Axahooxa · 26/04/2022 21:04

Sounds perfectly fine and it’s great you enjoy it!

Blackmagicqueen · 26/04/2022 21:07

Just on special occasions these days as a treat. I used to eat it all of the time without thinking but wouldn't get away with that in my 30s without gaining weight! I do sometimes pinch a tiny piece of the dc's, or an odd square of dark chocolate on my period.

Svara · 26/04/2022 21:12

Usually three squares of 85% a day

bakewellbride · 26/04/2022 21:16

I'm exclusively breastfeeding my newborn so bloody loads and quite a lot before kids too.

TheCanyon · 26/04/2022 21:18

A bar from a multipack every night except when I'm having a drink. Just had a crunchie, the last one, Easter eggs for it tomorrow 😀

Samanabanana · 26/04/2022 21:20

Too much!

mizu · 26/04/2022 21:26

Eat it everyday! Trying to eat mostly dark chocolate and dairy milk is too sweet now!

I stopped eating it for a month a few years ago to see if I could - and I did but there was no joy in that Grin

Unfortunately it isn't good for my bank balance as I now love Hotel Chocolat, Montezuma and the most amazing chocolates I got for my birthday from Holdsworth.....£10 for 9 chocolates but they were utterly delicious.

BasilParsley · 26/04/2022 21:26

Sorry ladies but I need to know what the addiction is all about?... I have never been a fan of chocolate. I rarely buy it and when I do, I generally throw half of it away. This afternoon, I ate about 10 Cadbury mini-eggs because a tiny packet of it was given to me as a belated Easter gift by a colleague. But that's the first chocolate I've eaten in months.... Even my daughter knew to buy me a bottle of Proseco in lieu of an Easter egg the other weekend... I do love a bowl of natural full-fat yoghurt though...

opalescent · 26/04/2022 21:36

Top favourites would be:
Crunchies
Plain dairy milk
Plain galaxy
Crème eggs
Twirl
Anything with salted caramel in
Occasionally fancy white chocolate
Ooh wispa!!

All of it 😀

doadeer · 26/04/2022 21:41

I love it but usually only a couple of rows at the weekend as I'm pretty health conscious.

If that's you're only "vice" and you're otherwise healthy I'd just say enjoy it.

SpindleInTheWind · 26/04/2022 21:41

Svara · 26/04/2022 21:12

See, that would cave my mouth in

FourChimneys · 26/04/2022 21:44

Dark vegan chocolate most days but not more than I will burn off. I love chocolate but I also love being slim and active.

BeerLoas · 26/04/2022 21:45

That sounds like health advice “three squares of 85% a day”.

😋
