How much chocolate do you eat?

opalescent · 26/04/2022 20:53

I'm obsessed. More so before my period, but every day really.
I have chocolate daily, every evening. I bloody adore it. I don't eat huge quantities at a time- a family sized bar would last me up to a week.
Over Easter I had a crème egg every night for six nights in a row.
I eat otherwise very healthily and take good care of my teeth.

Should I just enjoy my chocolate habit, or am I eating too much?

Thanks all 😂 🍫

I have something like a Daim bar or a bag of minstrels two or three times a year.

Probably about 100g, I buy Lindt lindors when they are on offer to fill my ginger jar and Hotel Chocolate in the sales, I like Ritter Sports also so buy the 12 packs from Amazon when they are on offer as they are difficult to get the ones I like in the supermarket, we always have a good supply of Twirls and stuff like that.

I eat an obscene amount! A minimum of a big bar or the bags of giant buttons every day

Me too. I can eat a family size bar AND a bag of something in one sitting. Genuinely. Not good.

Just about enough. Probably a bar of something every day overall.
not a big sharing bar but a proper sized regular one. I bloody love a crunchie or a ripple!

edwinbear · 26/04/2022 22:52

Very rarely, I do like it, but much prefer crisps and cheese. Both of which I eat on a daily basis.

uncomfortablydumb53 · 26/04/2022 23:00

I eat chocolate daily!
I have half a bar of Lindt hazelnut so 75g or Cadbury giant buttons share bagBlush

MrsSkylerWhite · 26/04/2022 23:02

Hardly any. Very, very occasionally fancy some but it’s almost always a let down.
crisps, on the other hand … 😁

Svara · 27/04/2022 06:07

BeerLoas · 26/04/2022 21:45

That sounds like health advice “three squares of 85% a day”.

😋

That's an average, sounded better than two 125g bars a week!

Goatinthegarden · 27/04/2022 06:35

It varies really. I love crisps and chocolate. When I was in my twenties, I could eat the whole 100g bar or family sized bag of crisps, but now, mid thirties, I can feel the difference in my body’s efficiency depending on how I ‘fuel’ it. Energy and fitness is more of a priority for me now, so I’ve naturally kind of shifted to being content with a square or two, or a small bowl of crisps.

20 year old me would be horrified, but I really don’t miss the large quantities.

XDownwiththissortofthingX · 27/04/2022 06:37

None. Zero interest thanks to the fact I find the taste and texture repulsive.

No problem hoovering up Haribo though.

FelicityFlops · 27/04/2022 06:42

None at all. I think it is digusting stuff.
In the autumn/winter if I am doing game in red wine I might grate a little very dark chocolate into the sauce, but would need to go and buy it specially.
My heart sinks at menus with 90% chocolate-based pudding offers.

womaninatightspot · 27/04/2022 06:44

I'm impressed at your willpower. An open bar of chocolate is an invitation. I buy those packs of moser roth in Aldi with 5 individual bars and have one a day. Two sometimes but not often.

GorgeousLadyofWrestling · 27/04/2022 07:17

Chocolate is my absolute downfall. I would happily eat a large bar of Dairy Milk every day. Or any kind of chocolate every day if I could. But even though I have and I do, I really shouldn’t - I am overweight and unhappy about being overweight. At weekends DH and I would share at least two different large packs of chocolate but I have to decide if I want to slimmer or chocolate and these days, I’m leaning towards not being overweight. But it’s a sad life without chocolate!

AuntieMarys · 27/04/2022 07:28

Seldom. Maybe twice a year. Just not a fan of sweet things.

Trinacham · 27/04/2022 07:33

I wouldn't say I eat chocolate everyday. I don't often buy it but it is bought for me. As kind as that is, I wish they wouldn't. As when it's there, I can't resist. Diabetes (type 2) runs on the maternal side of my family, clearly genetic as nobody is big or eats excessive! I had Gestational Diabetes when pregnant (same as my mum and sister) but thankfully just had the follow-up test and I'm all clear for now! Phew!

nearlyspringyay · 27/04/2022 07:49

Hardly any, maybe once every six months.

Haribo / gummy sweets on the other hand.....

Same here. It’s awful and I know it’s bad for me long term probably but I eat a family sized bar of milkybar every single day. Have done for about 5 years now. It’s my one vice. I don’t drink or smoke and eat healthily otherwise.

Daenerys77 · 27/04/2022 11:58

Hardly any because I rarely buy it. I find it much easier not to eat it at all than do so in moderation. If I could eat comparatively small amounts like you, I would probably do so.

Pommelegible · 27/04/2022 12:23

A lot! I eat it every day. Usually after lunch but sometimes at elevenses. I rarely buy it though, everyone knows I love chocolate so gives it to me for every occasion. I’d usually have 4 or 6 individual chocolates or two rows of a bar, usually dark chocolate. My meals are mostly healthy and I don’t eat crisps or sweets and rarely drink alcohol or eat puddings so I don’t think it’s too bad. Obviously it would be healthier not to eat it though.

GalactatingGoddess · 27/04/2022 12:31

If I could stay slim/healthy and eat it every day I 100% would

BigSkies22 · 27/04/2022 12:31

10 grams of dark chocolate a day. With a cup of mint tea after dinner. The one I've got in at the moment is a TTD Dominican Republic 72%, because that was on special offer yesterday. I like Doisy and Dam, and Aldi Choceur dark chocolate. But any dark chocolate will probably do it, it mustn't be sugary or 'dull', I want a complicated, sophisticated, proper chocolate 'hit'.

JennyWren87 · 27/04/2022 12:34

Hardly any before my pregnancies. But since and especially now I'm breastfeeding my second little one I am MAD for it. I could eat it all day. On average I say I have two chocolate bars or an entire bar of chocolate a day. Too much obviously but can't contain this sweet tooth!

Chaoslatte · 27/04/2022 12:36

I maybe eat chocolate on average once a week? I still have some left from Christmas and my birthday (Feb) but on the other hand I had an Easter egg that I demolished pretty quickly. I tend to eat dark chocolate as milk isn’t chocolatey enough/too sweet.

DeskInUse · 27/04/2022 12:39

I would happily eat a big bag of buttons or an Easter egg a day, but I know it's not healthy so I do have to limit my intake. I simply stop having it in the house. It was at least 3/4 days ago I had my last 'fix'

LaurieFairyCake · 27/04/2022 12:57

A Ripple or Flake about 4 days out of 7

Cake or biscuits most days - small piece (today was a fondant fancy AND a Welsh cake)
