How much chocolate do you eat?

I'm obsessed. More so before my period, but every day really.
I have chocolate daily, every evening. I bloody adore it. I don't eat huge quantities at a time- a family sized bar would last me up to a week.
Over Easter I had a crème egg every night for six nights in a row.
I eat otherwise very healthily and take good care of my teeth.

Should I just enjoy my chocolate habit, or am I eating too much?

Thanks all 😂 🍫

At least two four ounce bars a week. Four squares most days, often more. But I get loads of exercise and eat healthily the rest of the time, never smoked, a couple of drinks a week. It was worse before menopause; the days running up to my period were a real chocfest.

"Sorry ladies but I need to know what the addiction is all about?... I have never been a fan of chocolate. I rarely buy it and when I do, I generally throw half of it away. This afternoon, I ate about 10 Cadbury mini-eggs because a tiny packet of it was given to me as a belated Easter gift by a colleague. But that's the first chocolate I've eaten in months."

It's because youre eating the wrong chocolate. Cadbury made without milk is disgusting. Aldi chocolate is gorgeous and lidles is lovely too (not diaryfine though as that is cheap & nasty).

Rarely to never. I never buy it but will eat a small amount if I'm given it. I'm a teacher and get given, what feels like, loads at Christmas. I give it to my children or leave it in the staff room without even opening it.

Cheese on the other hand...

Top favourites would be:
Crunchies
Plain dairy milk
Plain galaxy
Crème eggs
Twirl
Anything with salted caramel in
Occasionally fancy white chocolate
Ooh wispa!!

Sorry @opalescent I thought you meant chocolate ?

Your list is mostly about sugar with a dash of chocolate flavouring. Good quality chocolate is made with a lot less sugar and is much less likely to hook you in to eating too much.

squiller · 27/04/2022 13:51

I don’t buy it anymore because I find it hard to resist it and I’ve been on a weight loss mission this year. Easter was hard, I ate a couple of creme eggs which were nice and a few mini eggs. I wish supermarkets like Morrisons wouldn’t put chocolate bars next to the self serve checkouts, really shitty.

x2boys · 27/04/2022 14:01

Not much I can take it or leave it
Crisps however ......

thisplaceisweird · 27/04/2022 14:06

There are chocolate eaters and there's this...
10 grams of dark chocolate a day. With a cup of mint tea after dinner

You're not in the club.

JoeGoldberg · 27/04/2022 14:16

Not as much as I'd like to!!

INeedNewShoes · 27/04/2022 14:17

I used to eat Cadbury's every day before they changed the recipe.

Now I go 2–3 weeks without eating chocolate at all, then will eat all chocolate in sight for a few days, disgust myself and start the cycle again with a break for a few weeks then far too much for a few days.

LOL, I bloody am! I eat it every day, I miss it if it's not there, I make sure it's in the house. I just don't eat masses of the sugary stuff. Used to, when a binge-eating/emotional eating teen and 20-something. But thankfully, aging has quite a lot to recommend it.

I think there's a difference between enjoying chocolate and craving sugar.

YellowAndGreenToBeSeen · 27/04/2022 14:42

Very very rarely. There’s a box of chocolates in the cupboard - got them at Christmas and there’s about three quarters left I reckon. Usually, any chocolate I get given ends up in the food bank. I never buy it.

LapinR0se · 26/04/2022 21:01

2-3 squares of dark choc every day

Me too

Waxonwaxoff0 · 27/04/2022 14:51

None at the moment as I'm overweight and trying to lose. I love it though.

Waxonwaxoff0 · 27/04/2022 14:53

I HATE dark chocolate, it tastes nasty and bitter. I can't eat chocolate while I'm trying to lose weight because I've got no self control with it, so it's best I don't eat any at all.

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 27/04/2022 14:57

I had to quit chocolate because of reflux, but had gone off it a bit as I got older anyway. My sweet tooth turned into a cheese and crisps tooth after turning 40.

Chocolatefreak · 27/04/2022 15:05

I eat loads. If it's in the house I'll eat it. I prefer the dark, less sugary stuff but almost all my excess calories are from chocolate alone. I otherwise eat very healthily.

I wish I could have more self control around chocolate - I know how environmentally damaging it is to grow cocoa and how exploitative the cocoa industry remains. I sometimes feel sufficiently shamed to stop eating so much for these reasons.

But I'm addicted 😳

Chaoslatte · 27/04/2022 15:07

@Waxonwaxoff0 high cocoa content dark chocolate (like 70–80%) is nicer when you let it melt in your mouth than if you just munch it. You get a really intense, smooth chocolatey hit.

Really? which ones have you tried? I usually eat a brand called Choceur, its 80% solids and it tastes amazing! Not bitter at all.

DustyMaiden · 27/04/2022 15:19

Hardly ever eat it . Really not bothered.
butter, cheese and crisps are my downfall.

UniBallEye · 27/04/2022 15:48

I agree with a PP that sometimes I fancy the idea of some chocolate every once in a while but the reality is so often disappointing.

Same goes for chocolate cake / ice-cream etc

We have a hotel chocolate velevtizer and a supply of the sachets and I have found that drinking one of the darker mixes gives me that chocolate hit I'm after.

I was recently in Italy and had some Baci chocolates and they were very nice too .

Overall though bread, butter, chips, potatoes in most forms, crisps and wine would be my weaknesses...

beguilingeyes · 27/04/2022 15:57

Got it pretty bad at the moment.
I have been buying up all the reduced price Easter eggs. John Lewis were selling Hotel Chocolat stuff for half price.
Cadburys taste horrible to me since Kraft took over, but I love a Lindt bunny.

SlatsandFlaps · 27/04/2022 16:06

A580Hojas · 26/04/2022 21:56

I have something like a Daim bar or a bag of minstrels two or three times a year.

Nonsense!! 🤣 There isn't a 'willpower prize' for eating the least you know?!

beguilingeyes · 27/04/2022 18:17

LaurieFairyCake · 27/04/2022 12:57

A Ripple or Flake about 4 days out of 7

Cake or biscuits most days - small piece (today was a fondant fancy AND a Welsh cake)

Top tip. Waitrose own brand Welsh cakes taste like home made.

StuckInTheMiddleOfNowhere · 27/04/2022 18:20

Minimum 100g a day, ie a quid bar or bag.
