And collegiate style interviewing would be a dreadful choice given a) Johnson's character and proclivity to wander off topic and b) given the importance of cost of living crisis.

What is important and what I want to say is just this.
The important thing to remember is, that the government has been very busy getting on with very many important tasks. There has been the vaccine role out which was world leading. There is a war in Ukraine and the UK has again been world leading in making sure that as few refugees from that dreadful conflict as possible come to the the UK. May I just also say that I and the Tory party have also been world leading in taking money from Russians and making sure they want to invest in the UK, invest in my government and making my mates rich. The cost of living crisis combined with the unfortunate sanctions on some of these individuals means that it is now much harder for me to raise the money for a new set of wallpaper.

Asked if he is “honest”, Boris Johnson tells GMB that "I do my best to represent faithfully and accurately what I believe.”

That's hilarious. And quite revealing. In his mind, it's what he would like to be the truth, therefore he believes that it really is true, therefore when he isn't lying because he's made himself believe it. Even though objectively it really, really isn't true.

He truly is a pathological liar.

Only just seen the Elsie clip. Shock Shock

What an own goal that was

OMG. You can just see the cogs whirring and creaking in his brain as he goes into panic mode - oh my god, what can I say, aha, Elsie's using her bus pass to stay on buses all day to save heating costs, great, I can point out we've enabled her to stay on that bus all night as well .....

And he, in turn, is a pussy cat compared with John Humphreys. I miss John, I bet this bunch is delighted he’s gone.

Yes. Piers was just rude and bombastic and desperately trying to keep relevant.

On Elsie... the thing is.. he has in the past been able to bluster and divert, but he's been in power years now, and journos and interviewers just know that is his modus operandi, and they have adjusted their style accordingly. He's his own worst enemy.

Mad hatter or March hare? I just can’t decide which he is?

Piggywaspushed · 03/05/2022 16:17

Has Michael Spicer done a 'man next door ' on Boris's Susannah Reid yet? It will be brilliant!

Peregrina · 03/05/2022 16:18

Now now, jgw and others - he could have been worse. He could have copied his Chancellor and told Elsie that she was being silly.

itsgettingweird · 03/05/2022 16:27

Blossomtoes · 03/05/2022 11:52

There’s a thread running complaining about Suzanna Reid’s “rudeness”. I despair.

Me too.

Throughout cocos when she say next to gob almighty I said there was an intelligent woman who is an amazing journalist waiting to take the lead - he stormed out and she's there.

She's actually very level headed and fair. I respect her a lot

Agreed. Susanna is good at her job. Digressing a bit, what people think of Sophie Raworth on Sunday mornings ? I miss Andrew Marr and am not keen. I think she would have treated Boz a lot more gently.

She has a monomania about Durham. David Lammy was visibly and audibly irritated this week.

In fact, why does she need a house at all, couldn't she just live on a bus. Did you know my hobby is making buses out of cardboard boxes?

No really I do. I am going to make one tonight out of the spare wine crate from celebrating my amazing performance today being interviewed and being world leading in waffling to the Ukrainian parliament. I will make one of my special happy passenger figures look just like Elsie to, I might even send her a photo of the bus.

So was I. I thought it made her look a bit dim.

newnamethanks · 03/05/2022 18:36

Me too. I was irritated. There go my Sunday mornings can't be doing with her.

Blossomtoes · 03/05/2022 18:40

Rayworth annoys me too. I wish Maitlis hadn’t left the Beeb.

This opinion analysis of opinion polls makes for good reading for Big Dog.

He won't need to worry about whether or not he is Prime Minister if he loses his own seat!

balalake · 03/05/2022 20:31

Please everyone who has a local election this week, go out and vote. The bigger the Tory losses, the greater the chance he will go, willingly or not.

DuncinToffee · 03/05/2022 20:42

We don't have local elections this year

InMySpareTime · 03/05/2022 20:50

I'm trying to get my mum to vote, but she wants leaflets and her local candidates are only putting their manifestos online, so she went on Social media (where the policies are easily accessible) to complain that the candidates have no online information on the one site she tried

At least me, DH and the DCs will vote anyway.

L1ttledrummergirl · 03/05/2022 21:41

We aren't voting either this time around.

Notonthestairs · 03/05/2022 21:48

We have LE and will use our vote. As per usual the only candidate to have posted any leaflets or been door knocking is the Lib Dem counsellor.

So the Conservatives will spend tomorrow predicting terrible losses, will lose less and then trumpet that as a win and a sign of faith in the PM Confused

Johnson won't get any more FPNS - Henry Newman is covering Abbagate for him. I think they've lied through their teeth.

The Gray report will be delayed until Whitsun (28/5) or Summer recess (23/7) and/or will be heavily redacted (privacy reasons). Once published more faux apologises, lessons learnt etc.

And then they'll all hang on hoping we forget all about it.
