Claudine
Did anyone listen to Rachel Johnson on LBC last night? I know Call-Me-Churchill is her brother, but she is deluded. She waffled on about how they have were both brought up to be decent and kind and why oh why is every one so nasty to her brother. One woman rang in and said PMQs makes her cry because Starmer is so horrid to poor little Johnson. It was bizarre."
I did! I never normally listen to get but felt I should try and listen to a different viewpoint. I agree deluded!

Peregrina · 03/05/2022 09:39

It was a mistake to let a woman interview him. Yes, we know he knows what a woman is, but in his world they are there for shagging, not bothering their heads asking IMPORTANT MEN about politics.

newnamethanks · 03/05/2022 09:57

Well, I hope she didn't cross her legs.

DuncinToffee · 03/05/2022 10:30

Asked if he is “honest”, Boris Johnson tells GMB that "I do my best to represent faithfully and accurately what I believe.”

I honestly don’t know whether to laugh or cry at that. There must be so many Elsies and he just doesn’t give a flying fuck. Bloody heartbreaking.

Peregrina · 03/05/2022 11:35

So lovable Boris, who needs to get his pals to pay for his £84 a roll expensive wallpaper, can't find anything to say to Elsie. Well, if you have elections coming up this week people, just think about who you vote for.

Blossomtoes · 03/05/2022 11:37

I thought the wallpaper was £800 a roll - that’s ten months of energy for Elsie.

Notonthestairs · 03/05/2022 11:41

"Lots of expectation management going on by all parties ahead of local elections.

Claims in Telegraph today that Tories could lose 800 seats were described as "simply not feasible" by elections guru Colin Rallings. 300-400 losses the absolute upper limit, he reckons."

twitter.com/paulbranditv/status/1521437724414291970?s=21&t=Dsdx8yCyNBXioNUg4FNijg

We should keep an eye on this - they'll set expected losses very high so that they can pretend they've done better than expected and therefore Johnson is performing well.

I'm very amused at the complaints that Susannah Reid was a meanie, why can't everyone behave with kindness & decency blah. Surely with his superior intellect and debate skills he should be able to manage a 20 minute interview with aplomb. Why hadn't they prepared him better - or maybe he just didn't listen to advice. Suspect it was the latter.

Roussette · 03/05/2022 11:49

I'm amazed he didn't perform better too. He would've known the sort of questions that would be thrown at him... if it were me, I would imagine them times ten, and have just something prepared.

But... he was half an hour late, I would think he was unprepared plain and simple, and thought he could bluster through it like he did at the start. Interviewers are more sharp now, so much has gone wrong and he has been proven to lie, so they're going to be like rottweilers and he should've been prepared for that.

The wallpaper was £840 a roll. Grotesque. And don't forget he tried to get a Tory donor to pay for it all, until he got caught out with his whatsapp messages and had to fund it himself.

There’s a thread running complaining about Suzanna Reid’s “rudeness”. I despair.

newnamethanks · 03/05/2022 12:27

Come along now, women, you're underestimating the power of the PM's blinding and powerful charisma upon which he relies, rather than knowledge, to carry him through when relating to the proles. Must have left it at home this morning, or maybe left it in Central Office for the faithful to line up and admire in his absence.

DuncinToffee · 03/05/2022 12:38

It's easier to attack Susanna Reid's perceived rudeness than having to address what Johnson actually said. If you don't like it just watch the political propaganda broadcast or PMQs

L1ttledrummergirl · 03/05/2022 12:41

Robert Jenrick on the politics show.
When asked what he thought about Johnson answer to Elsie said, I think he should have said that they had given a £1b of money to local councils to help those who've fallen through the cracks- thats most of the population then!

Coming from yet another tone deaf millionaire.

He also complained that Keir Starmer didn't give a straight answer when asked if Durham police had been in touch, despite Starmer being clear that it had been investigated and there was no case to answer.

What a fucking idiot thoroughly nice man, clearly very in tune with the public. Not

(Trying to be careful, hope that was polite enough)

BringBackCoffeeCreams · 03/05/2022 12:41

That interview was just one step away from Prince Andrew level car crash. Well done Susanna.

L1ttledrummergirl · 03/05/2022 12:48

Fuck me, mansplaining the lowly female next to him and misconstruing her words!
We heard what she said, her voice is valid and reasonable. She sounds like a grown up.

There was probably a team of advisors trying to pull him out of the fridge. Takes time.

ancientgran · 03/05/2022 13:29

Now we know why he has avoided GMB for 5 years.

Of course we do. She “wiped the floor with him” as I believe it’s known in common parlance in these parts. Small wonder he’s reluctant to submit to scrutiny. Remember that he refused to take part in the leaders’ debate before the last GE? He’s frit, as Thatcher would have said.

derxa · 03/05/2022 13:53

Unlike most of you I watch GMB every morning. This is the usual style of interview. Huge long questions and aggressive style. They've got Adil Ray, Richard Madeley and Ranvir Singh all doing the same thing. Occasionally they have Ed Balls who interviews in a collegiate manner and he gets a lot more out of people.

Surely if Big Dog had wanted to say something about his government's policies (that we are told he is not responsible for) he would have done, even though there was a woman (good job he can identify them) being aggressive (allegedly).

Roussette · 03/05/2022 13:57

None are as bad as Piers Morgan was
He singlehandedly stopped a lot of members of the government being interviewed on GMB

And he, in turn, is a pussy cat compared with John Humphreys. I miss John, I bet this bunch is delighted he’s gone.

I often watch GMB . Madeley is absolutely useless. He is so far up the Tories ass it would be hard to pull him out. At least Adil Ray attempts to hold them to account.

Notonthestairs · 03/05/2022 14:07

"This is the usual style of interview. "

Then why wasn't he better prepared?

Johnson's advisors would have known who was conducting the interview, anticipated the style and content of questions and thought of short form answer.

But he doesn't listen.

Viewers are much more sophisticated than politicians give them credit for - we recognise dodging questions with waffle when we hear it. I'm just sick of hearing it.
