Dorries actually replied quire swiftly to my most recent letter. It was also a bit better than the first one. Mainly because she doesn't write them. I may now write to her about despicable misogyny and the fact that she is stoking it.

Piggy what is she like as an MP? Is she popular? She just seems so rubbish but so confident. Confused
My MP is invisible, one that has no views and doesn't stand up until he is told what to say.

Roussette · 02/05/2022 17:06

My MP is unfortunately not invisible and hasn't replied to my last two polite emails

Mine too. I wonder if we have the same one?

itsgettingweird · 02/05/2022 17:09

My MP is very visible in FB currently.

All about voting for conservatives and smearing Labour.

Even a picture of her voting for her local Tory Mp. Doesn't mention the fact she uses her mums address as she doesn't even live here!

ancientgran · 02/05/2022 17:17

My MP is a conservative, I didn't vote for him. We have had several e mail exchanges over the last couple of years so when he stood up in parliament and told Johnson he should go I sent him an email thanking him. He sent a lovely reply.

Oh, that is good to hear.

Mine supported him. No surprise there. He used the 'Ukraine' excuse which is pretty bad

meno, she is widely disliked, routinely spells the name of every constituency village wrongly, does nothing on controversial local issues, won't visit schools ( including one her DD attended ) in case the teenagers are mean to her, and lives 200 miles away. Huge majority.

itsgettingweird · 02/05/2022 17:30

Mine does some stuff locally. Mainly publicity stunts but at least she drives here to visit us!

Other than that she's a useless waste of space with her head wedged firmly up Johnson's arse! - which is a shame really because my local Tory counsellor has been fantastic the whole 20 years he's done it. However he's also retired this year.

L1ttledrummergirl · 02/05/2022 17:33

I popped into our council offices the other day briefly and was in the queue behind someone asking about the council tax rebate. She wasn't happy as we are getting it at the end of May rather than when the government promised it last month.
It turns out that our Conservative MP doesn't reply to her letters either.

I don't care where Angela Rayner sits, or how she sits, or if she fidgets. As long as her private body parts (think child safety) are covered then she can wear what she wants.
I would expect every adult there with more than one brain cell to be able to concentrate on the job.
It's telling that the Conservative government at the moment can't.

Menomadness · 02/05/2022 17:35

Piggy Shock
She sounds as awful as I imagine she is. I don't know why (as there are some absolute tools to choose from in the MP line up ) but she is one that fascinates me as I just can't see her on top of any brief really. I would have thought she would come across lacking in local hustings etc yet she has a big majority.

Mine hasn't mentioned Ukraine in any of his replies to my moaning. It has to be said he has good manners. I bet his heart sinks when he sees another e mail from me, he must have got a shock that I was being positive this time.

To be fair he has done better than I expected but he still won't be getting my vote but he's still my MP.

It must be really frustrating to have one who is supporting Johnson.

ClaudineClare · 02/05/2022 17:58

I would happily contribute to a crowd funder for Rayner to sue
Lance Foreman or the Daily Mail/Dan Hodges. As this tweet sets out:

No need for public inquiry
1:Amanda Platell (Mail 8/1) makes Basic Instinct reference about Rayner 2:Rayner jokes about story in bar week later & in podcast
3:Mail says She actually does it & it’s cos she can’t compete with Johnson (24/4)
4:Dan Hodges ignores where story started

It's a very blue area - she doesn't need to do hustings or door knocking. Remember, pre Boris and Brexit, she was a backbencher.

the80sweregreat · 02/05/2022 18:04

I don't like my MP, but he always ( gets someone else ) to reply to my emails by letter !
I have a few posh houses of commons letters now. He signs them , but I'm not convinced he is that involved in the replies.
He has a huge majority.

Dorries is an embarrassment. She has tweeted a pic of Keir Starmer supposedly having a curry during lockdown.

The picture she has tweeted is from 2019 with Keir (with less gray in his hair) having a curry with Frank Dobson who died in 2019. This is the Minister for Culture and Media. You couldn't make it up.

Yet she's supposed to be cracking down on misinformation on Twitter? She's a fruit loop. And a hypocrite

But it's just a link from a DM article? She isn't suggesting it is a snap from the actual Durham party! it clearly states 'stock image' underneath.

An 'embarrassment', a 'fruit loop' and a 'hypocrite'. I mean, yes you're entitled to your own opinion yet if i pointed out Rayner is an embarrassment and a massive hypocrite I'd have 'You've been mentioned in a post' pings on my phone within seconds Grin.

Yes it is.

He is on 1922 committee. He has no permanent constituency office, and in 2019, just before the election he was voted 650th out of 650 for 'openness and responsiveness to his constituents'. There is no hope. But that doesn't stop me writing to him Grin

Yes, I stand by that. 100% She has tweeted it and it does not show 'stock image' on her tweet. People will read her tweet and look at the pictures,
and she has a lot of followers so for someone who is Culture and Media Secretary it is very very hypocritical given she has been before a Committee talking about Twitter and misinformation.

I'm sure you can't disagree with that.
Her 'followers' will not be hunting around for 'stock image' anywhere will they?

The Tories are getting absolutely desperate. All they have is Keir's Beer and Angela's Legs. It is pitiful. The Mail is a parody of itself and is convincing no-one except its loyal "readers".

Well he does sound pretty awful. It is terrible to be in a safe seat isn't it, vote just wasted so we might as well let them know what we think.

I think mine replies. I always get a very quick acknowledgement from someone in his office and his reply can take a week or two. Maybe he's just being cunning and fooling me.

SueSaid · 02/05/2022 18:26

'All they have is Keir's Beer and Angela's Legs. It is pitiful.'

Yes granted the way Forensic Starmer has dealt with Durham social event has been pitiful.

HarrietPierce · 02/05/2022 18:30

JaniieJones I think you mean Durham work event . You really need to stop reading the trash they print in the Daily Mail.

SueSaid · 02/05/2022 18:34

'JaniieJones I think you mean Durham work event'

I'm sorry I can't keep up. So, Labour beer and takeaways at 10pm is a work event but Conservatives doing similar is a 'party'. Riiiiight. Can you not understand why Sir Starmer QC is getting non stop ridicule for this?

Roussette · 02/05/2022 18:41

There's not nonstop ridicule much as you would like there to be. Apart from the lying DM and the desperate Ministers making fools of themselves.
7 'events/parties' for BJ versus one beer after work... Rightio....

I'll ridicule that comparison...

The Tories can bleat about Durhamgate all they like. The police found that no rules were broken. So far there is no suggestion that there will be a reinvestigation, is there?
