I'm far from puritanical but I don't understand why they need a bar. They have a tea/dining rooms and they definitely don't need to be drinking on the job. Presumably it's all subsidised with tax payers cash. It's all a bit "we've done it this way since 1849 so it must continue."

But then I'd make HoP a museum and move them all out of London if I had my way.

Notonthestairs · 01/05/2022 11:27

What's growlergate? 😬

ClaudineClare · 01/05/2022 11:28

Sorry, MPs. Four of them.

ClaudineClare · 01/05/2022 11:25

What does everyone think about "growlergate"🙄? The bots are all going mad about it on Twitter, but there doesn't seem to be any real evidence, just anecdotal reports from an anonymous MP.

That's the Dan Hodges non story

Desperate Dan and his bots.

Apologies for the link to such an odious Twitter account.

Dan Hodges of the DM claiming Angela Rayner leaked the story

ClaudineClare · 01/05/2022 11:31

I don't believe it for one second.

Notonthestairs · 01/05/2022 11:34

Ah so AR makes terrible joke using "scary" language (remember - it's all right to look at womens anatomy, not alright to use colloquial words to reference body parts).

Daily Mail then devotes 5/600 words and photo spread about it and states she does it (as a matter of fact) to divert attention from her lack of Eton/Oxford debate team experience.

And that's all AR's fault. 🙄

Notonthestairs · 01/05/2022 11:36

How does AR leak anything to the Daily Mail - she either said it to MP's who leaked it themselves or she contacted the DM who of course we're ready and waiting for a story from her?

DuncinToffee · 01/05/2022 11:42

ClaudineClare · 01/05/2022 11:31

Me neither

It's horrible that these smears are acceptable.

You would think that the day after the resignation of a Tory MP for viewing porn in the house, they might want to hold off the misogynistic smearing.

Notonthestairs · 01/05/2022 11:52

The Mail will be full of this rubbish until Friday morning and then it will flip back to concentrating on Prince Harry and the Jubilee.

ClaudineClare · 01/05/2022 12:09

Yeah, next week will be nasty. I pray the Tories get a pasting. If they do, they will downplay it of course. But Big Dog will be in trouble.

L1ttledrummergirl · 01/05/2022 15:58

Not sure why my last post was deleted. It was pointing out how helpful I find posts by a particular poster when people that I meet in real life with the same/similar level of critical thinking skills use the same points and whataboutery.

I also said that the posts put me in mind of someone being paid to get messages straight from our out of touch government into the public consciousness which is why there is no deviation from the days message.

Whether the above is accurate or not isn't up to me to decide, this is my perception and makes me think that the government is increasingly desperate and slinging mud in the hope some sticks.

ClaudineClare · 01/05/2022 16:03

Be careful @L1ttledrummergirl or you might end up with a ban.

ilovesooty · 01/05/2022 16:30

Sadly I don't think the Tories will get a pasting in a lot of Red Wall councils in the Midlands and North. I expect them to suffer in the South though.

One can be banned for saying what we are all thinking?

Roussette · 01/05/2022 16:53

The Mirror has come out with a very critical piece, courtesy of the Sunday Times

www.mirror.co.uk/news/politics/sue-gray-finds-bombshell-e-26844198

No10 is braced for Mr Johnson to be slapped with more fixed penalty notices.

Insiders are said to believe the birthday party bash he has been sanctioned for is the least bad of the half dozen gatherings he attended which Met Police detectives are probing.

A senior official familiar with its contents said the findings would be “difficult for everyone”,
“The most shocking thing Sue’s report has uncovered is a series of emails which expose the extent to which the parties were premeditated and the rules were being willfully broken,” an official told the paper.
“She is also concerned by the lack of contrition shown by those who have been found to have broken the rules.”

So if cake-gate is the least bad, we are in for a rollercoaster of a ride. How they can bang on about Keir beergate, god alone knows when the scale of this is shocking.

Well yes, likewise, but one has to be gentle with some petals.

Me too. I’m not the reporting sort, though. I think it’s a bit gutless.

I like the rude comments to remain, that way everyone gets to see what a poster is like.

Yes, likewise.

They will stand forever but of course NCing being a tool does defeat the object a bit. Unfortunately.
