Errrr yes. We had weekly and then fortnightly quizzes online

Oh good, we are getting another bout of what about Keir's beer.
Does that mean, but Boris knows what a woman is has been shelved or is it just in the fridge?

BringBackCoffeeCreams · 30/04/2022 12:36

Ok, let's go down the Kier's beer rabbit hole. Just suppose that he wasn't working, he got shit-faced, danced naked on the table, Angela Rayner joined in, and they partied for 3 days solid. How does that in any way justify Boris Johnson partying and lying to parliament about it? Are the government only accountable for something if nobody else has ever done it?

I reported my neighbour once for driving without insurance. The police decided not to prosecute. Am I now free to drive without insurance?

newnamethanks · 30/04/2022 13:51

O come on CoffeeCreams, what about the music? Were they playing the Red Flag not ABBA? That's practically a socialist revolution taking place. We must be told🍻🐕

'Big Dog is doing Big Poos because '

Confused

Rayner was at Durham despite saying repeatedly she wasn't yet they're the ones forever shrieking 'liar!'. Why lie if it was all 'allowed'. Not very forensic.

A Labour Durham MP (who allegedly attended the Durham party, 'party' as defined on mn and the msm by those who gather at work) has had to apologise for launching an allegedly drunkern attack on MP Holden who rightly requested Durhamgate be reviewed www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-10765041/Labour-MP-launched-drunken-tirade-against-Tory-asking-review-Starmers-lockdown-beers.html. They can dish it out yet cannot take it.

The QC who allegedly advised Gray on the long awaited report is allegedly a Labour lover who has allegedly deleted his Labour loving tweets. Can't help thinking it would have been a conflict of interest having him onboard www.express.co.uk/news/politics/1602905/sue-gray-partygate-boris-johnson-daniel-stillitz-labour-brexit-tory-latest-news-ont

That report will not be worth the paper it is written on.

If anyone is doing 'Big Poos' I bet it is Sir Keir Starmer QC.

Blossomtoes · 30/04/2022 16:23

That report will not be worth the paper it is written on.

Why won’t they release it, then? Are you suggesting all the evidence is faked?

SueSaid · 30/04/2022 16:38

Blossomtoes · 30/04/2022 16:23

Not at all but when the QC advising has deleted all his Tweets because they clearly showed his Labour supporting political leanings it does make you wonder how impartial the advice was.

Guided by impartiality laws obviously but imagine if it was a QC who was a massive vocal Johnson supporter I bet you'd question that..

Roussette · 30/04/2022 16:44

Desperation by supporters of Big Dog then. Doesn't surprise me... the net is tightening.

OP posts:
Notonthestairs · 30/04/2022 16:44

Ah so now the report is worthless!

Don't worry JJ - the QC didn't write the report - an employee of the government did - and I'm sure they will have more than one legal adviser.

SueSaid · 30/04/2022 16:51

Roussette · 30/04/2022 16:44

Desperation by supporters of Big Dog then. Doesn't surprise me... the net is tightening.

I'm not desperate. If May 5th shows they've lost support I won't be losing any sleep over it. I just hope our council stays Conservative as I don't fancy council tax hikes and shit services as is the norm in Labour run councils.

Rather than call people desperate why not answer my points. If the QC advising Gray has been a vocal BJ fan don't you think there'd have been outrage?

Why did Rayner and Starmer lie about her presence? Don't you think it's odd that all they've done is shout liar for months and now they look stupid?

HarrietPierce · 30/04/2022 17:00

Why did Rayner and Starmer lie about her presence? We don't even know that the two concerned did. And who cares? She had every right to be there as Deputy leader. It's not like she was there to advise Starmer on wallpaper choices.

Notonthestairs · 30/04/2022 17:04

The QC didn't write the report - it has been produced internally by government employees so it's a storm in a wine glass.

If your council hasn't increased tax it means they must be cutting services -

"This is because largely because of reductions in central government grants, which have been the most sharply cut component of local government revenue since 2009/10. Central government grants – including retained business rates – were cut 37% in real-terms between 2009/10 and 2019/20, from £41.0bn to £26.0bn in 2019/20 prices. While grants from central government were cut, rates of council tax were increased. Local authorities raised 25% more council tax, in real terms, in 2019/20 compared to 2009/10."
www.instituteforgovernment.org.uk/explainers/local-government-funding-england

And as regards Rayners attendance at the non illegal gathering - no idea, I don't know either of them actually denied it and sure why her attendance makes any difference.

Roussette · 30/04/2022 17:05

I know you've got to look for positive angles for this shitshow of a Government but it's more than their esteemed job is worth for a QC to push a civil servant (SG) to write a report in a certain way. SG is writing the report. Not the QC and she is well respected and will write the facts.
Saying this now - to me means - you are getting this idea out there that the report is worthless because you just know it's going to be damning.
Nice try though!

OP posts:
Notonthestairs · 30/04/2022 17:08

Hasn't Johnson seen the SG report already - he's adjudicating himself - so I'm guessing this is all a damage limitation exercise.

ClaudineClare · 30/04/2022 17:31

Why did Rayner and Starmer lie about her presence?

@JaniieJones you seem a tad wound up. Can you link to where Starmer and Rayner were asked whether Rayner was there and denied it? Because I don't think either of them ever denied she was there when asked directly about it. As far as I understand it , they just didn't mention it. That was an error in my view, they should have mentioned it. But doesn't change the fact that Durhamgate wasn't an illegal gathering.

SueSaid · 30/04/2022 17:36

'The QC didn't write the report - it has been produced internally by government employees so it's a storm in a wine glass.'

Yes I know he didn't write it.

I'If the QC advising Gray was a Conservative supporter and had posted lots of rabid Tweets (now deleted) detailing this support are you seriously saying no one, not Pippa Crerar nor Paul Brand would have bat an eye?

DuncinToffee · 30/04/2022 17:37

The Govt that’s given us:

-The sea was closed
-I was ambushed by cake
-Get downstreaming
-Nurses drink at work
-Partygate? It’s fluff
-I was looking for tractors

Not forgetting:
-“I didn’t know it was party”
-“I was interviewing a friend while singing Abba”
“I was testing my eyesight”

And only a few weeks ago
“That’s my dandruff collection that I had lined up on a baking tray to show a friend”

Notonthestairs · 30/04/2022 17:42

Can you give an example of these rabid tweets?

ClaudineClare · 30/04/2022 17:43

Sue Gray's partygate QC Daniel Stilitz exposed as Boris-bashing Labour-supporting Remoaner

That's the Express headline. Quality journalism.

If the QC advising Gray was a Conservative supporter and had posted lots of rabid Tweets (now deleted) detailing this support are you seriously saying no one, not Pippa Crerar nor Paul Brand would have bat an eye?

The QC's tweets

“Leavers can't name a single reputable academic study which says we'll be better outside the EU.”

Writing about negotiations with the Brussels bloc, he later said: “EU should negotiate pre-Art 50, and give us a bad deal.

“That deal will then be rejected in a second referendum, and we'll end up staying in.”

Taking aim at Mr Johnson, he retweeted a claim the Prime Minister was “reckless” and “dangerous”. So not even his own tweet.

Widening his attack on Mr Johnson's party in 2019, Stilitz added: “The Government’s current rhetoric is nothing compared to the bile they’ll serve up during the forthcoming election campaign.”

Those tweets are not rabid @JaniieJones

I'm not wound up at all thanks.

www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-10764985/We-mistake-Angela-present-Labour-U-turn-Mail-proves-Rayner-beergate.html

A 'spokesman' yes but I think we can agree a spokesman's role is to speak for the people they are actually speaking for and any errors would be immediately corrected, particularly by a not very forensic QC.

Yet you thinking 'they just didn't mention it' Grin.

Notonthestairs · 30/04/2022 17:48

Can you explain how Rayner's presence makes a difference to the nature of the gathering - and whether it becomes, as a result, illegal?

Notonthestairs · 30/04/2022 17:50

Ah so all government departments can only receive legal advice from Leave voters now.

HarrietPierce · 30/04/2022 17:50

JaniieJones the desperate lies the Mail is spouting, may be something to do with the fact that the non dom tax avoidance that the owner of the Mail benefits from, will be outlawed if Labour get in .

Notonthestairs · 30/04/2022 17:51

I mean if Starmer's interior decorator was at the constituency office that might make a difference to whether it was a working meeting.

ClaudineClare · 30/04/2022 17:56

A 'spokesman' yes but I think we can agree a spokesman's role is to speak for the people they are actually speaking for and any errors would be immediately corrected, particularly by a not very forensic QC

So neither Starmer nor Rayner have lied then. Unlike Big Dog. The Mail is being very over dramatic about the whole thing.

I hope the police do re-investigate so that any doubt can be quelled once and for all. If Durhamgate was found to have broken the rules, would you want Starmer and Rayner to resign@JaniieJones ?
