Overly invested in Adam Frost's new garden

Why has he moved?! His garden is tiny compared to his last one! DH loves Gardener's world, I Mumsnet while it's on but have a secret love for the calming, capable Adam, and his beautiful garden. Can't understand why he has bought a house with a tiny (for him) north facing garden. Why Adam, why! They will never let you take over from Monty now

This has really unsettled me! I’ll have to watch it now and take a look. His last garden was so beautiful.

DarkFuckeryoftheHumanHeart · 22/04/2022 21:06

He seemed all 'make the best of it' but he must feel a bit gutted. I worry it will make him sadBlush

I can only think, from what he said on the programme, that he wanted to down-size and spend more time with his family....but my goodness what a difference to the last beautiful house and garden....

BlueBlueCowWondering · 22/04/2022 21:32

Agreed- I'm agog!

and creating all sorts of back stories to satisfy my curiosity 😀

AlisonDonut · 22/04/2022 21:33

I couldn't understand it either, from that lovely huge house to a north facing terraced garden? WTF???

3ormorecharacters · 22/04/2022 21:37

Same! It will be interesting to see what he does with such a 'normal' garden, I am excited to see it. I'd love to know the backstory, though of course it's no one's business!

Petronus · 22/04/2022 21:40

Is he still in the same location? His last garden was in Lincolnshire wasn’t it, which is significantly cheaper than a lot of the rest of the country. Would make sense if, say, he was now in London.

Kat1953 · 22/04/2022 21:42

I'm just glad he didn't announce he was leaving GW for more family time

userxx · 22/04/2022 21:53

Anyone know where the garden was in south Manchester? Can't remember the blokes name.

DarkFuckeryoftheHumanHeart · 22/04/2022 21:58

I missed where the new house was, but stone looked a bit Cotswold-y. As long as he and Mrs Adam are happy I'm happy, but just seems such a strange move!

First time I've watched, so I don't know who he is and I've never seen his previous place. But I was very confused-- THAT was the DOWNSIZED house and garden????

byvirtue · 22/04/2022 22:12

Im fairly new to GW but I was convinced they were grooming Adam to take over from Monty with his old place with multiple gardens. I’m intrigued why they moved too, although I guess you don’t make money from making your own garden look beautiful you get it from designing other peoples gardens, writing books, doing talks, running courses etc. He will have more time to do that with a smaller garden. The pressure he must be under to have a stunning garden!

friendlycat · 22/04/2022 22:13

I was surprised as well as his previous garden featured in many publications. It really does seem a big downsize with other properties very close. But he obviously has his reasons.

Applepip2022 · 22/04/2022 22:13

I wondered the same following this evening GW 😯. Love Adam's calm style and seriously thought his garden from the old house would be a contender for the main garden on GW in the future, it was so lovely and huge, with loads of TV-worthy potential. However, that said, the new garden is more relatable to the masses and it will be interesting to see how he manages a north-facing area.

ChurchlightJane · 22/04/2022 22:21

I never want Monty to leave GW. That first "Hello" of GW is when my shoulders drop and I can exhale after the working week.
However I hope that it's Adam who will take over when the time does come. But I was surprised by the new garden and the busy road and proximity to other properties would surely make recording hard.
Unless the neighbours are never going to make any noise in their own garden when Adams recording.

whenindoubtgotothelibrary · 22/04/2022 22:40

I'm also intrigued. The old garden was so beautiful. He said something about the same red kites flying over his new house as the old, which makes me think he must still be near Stamford.

TheDogsMother · 22/04/2022 22:54

We were saying the same thing. He's gone from a beautiful walled garden to a veg plot on a busy road. I hope him and his family are ok. I'm sure he's being lined up for a Monty successor and he does have the same lovely calm about him.

6699J · 22/04/2022 23:10

Sad that Alan Frost has moved and on a main road

6699J · 22/04/2022 23:11

Sad Alan Frost has moved house but the old garden took alot of looking after

Ha yes in fairness is much bigger than my house and garden but honestly- you should have seen his last place!

I was also hoping Ash would appear, I hope he stays away from that busy road.

RidgewoodGardens · 23/04/2022 07:26

Adam Frost attended a Garden Club talk in Huddersfield recently. He mentioned that his family have had health concerns and so he was reducing his commitments and moving back to his previous home (which they had rented out). I suspect the farmhouse was a business venture for his design studio and gardening school. These may be what he is downsizing rather than his TV commitments.

woodpecker2 · 23/04/2022 09:35

yes gutted I loved his old garden, I see his business website it ‘under construction’ which it wasn’t before so he could be scaling back his work.

BooseysMom · 23/04/2022 09:44

I had no idea he had moved! I watch GW too. Shows how much notice I take! I only listen when the Don speaks. If Adam ever takes over from Monty I won't watch it any more.

BooseysMom · 23/04/2022 09:51
