Where are you going? & how much is it costing (all in) and how many people is that for?

Interested as I haven’t been away abroad for several years now and have lost sight of the cost of a family holiday

thanks

We are doing turkey 5* all inclusive in the summer holidays for 2 adults 2 children. Paid £3600 for everything.

I was budgeting about 3k but was finding some very mediocre hotels that were missing one or 2 things from our wish list for that so decided to splurge a bit.

Norgie · 22/04/2022 15:50

@Lalaland44 I've sent you a DM if that's ok 🙂

JessieEssex · 22/04/2022 16:10

Greece mainland in July - 2 adults and 2 children in a hotel on the beach, B&B £3200 for a week

MissCalamity · 22/04/2022 16:32

Costa del Sol in August, All inclusive.
2 adults, 2 kids £2,900

Bythepath · 22/04/2022 16:48

We are doing 2 nights in a hotel in Paris then 7 days in Airbnb on the beach in Brittany. 2 Adults and 3 DC. We have used tesco vouchers for eurotunnel, total accomodation is £1500, by the time we have paid for food, fuel etc will be about £2500 total spend.

Well the real question is how many pairs of pants and PJs you’ll be taking and if you’ll be doing any laundry while there…

It is a good question. I shall be taking enough pants not to need to wash anything. But, it’s an air b&b with a washing machine so I might take some laundry tabs just in case. Mostly because it’s a hand luggage only situation. And there’s a toddler involved who may find a way to go through all his clothes in a single day.

It is (as you can imagine) going to be somewhat less of a fancy holiday than most of what’s listed on this thread 🤣

A week in Italy, near Rome in June. Flights were £60 each and accommodation was £275 . Transfers £12 each.

So £127 each. Technically less as the kids flights are a bit cheaper.

Corfu for two weeks in July/august. Flights were £430 for 3 of us and accommodation is £600. Car hire £500. So just over £500 each but would be £350 each if we didn't get car hire.

Staying with family in sw france. 2 kids one adult, approx £100 for flights inc bags. Everything else is no extra than we'd spend here for food, days out etc

Ah. You are winning the most MN holiday then. 😁

Although I think you are cheating because some of us don’t have family anywhere you’d want to holiday. 🤣🤣

Magic Natura in Spain, May half term, 7 nights all inclusive with upgrade, 2 adults, 2 children, £4k.

MissDollyMix · 22/04/2022 17:16

Just back from 10 days on the east coast of America, including a chunk of time New York. 2 adults, 2 kids, business class flights, internal travel, food, shopping etc all came in around £8k. It was a very extravagant one off for us though! Back to something much cheaper next year.

Undecicive · 22/04/2022 17:26

Aug 10 nights, flights, apartment and breakfast in Spain 2,700. Plus another 1000 for pet sitter.
We've not been abroad since 2018 and looking at these prices not sure when we'll again.

InTheCludgie · 22/04/2022 18:10

Netherlands Eurocamp type holiday for 7 nights, then 2 more nights at Efteling theme park and we're taking the overnight ferry there and back. It's costing about 2.5k self catering which doesn't include spending money. This is end of July, 2 adults and 2 dc.

Bickles · 22/04/2022 18:18

Just back from 10 days in Gran Canaria, 5 star hotel B&B. Was £3200 for 2 adults and a child over Easter. It was bliss!
Fortnight in Majorca booked for the summer holidays, 4 adults and a child in 2x 1 bed apartments cost £5k self catering.

ChickinMarango · 22/04/2022 18:32

@Abouttimemum it was booked with Virgin in November, we paid just under £3500 for flights, hotel tickets and car hire (intermediate suv). But we have to be frugal so staying in a cheap motel (stayed there before so know what we’re getting) and we’ve got a connecting flight in Atlanta (or so for us). Car hire should drop nearer as it’s gone up a lot from covid. The flights are cheapest 10 months out or around Black Friday so you can look later.

We go every three years or so but definitely have to make some compromises to do it. (Also the same holiday is now £1700 more than we paid and was £2000 more at one point). If you’ve got any questions feel free to PM me.

Abouttimemum · 22/04/2022 20:11

@ChickinMarango thanks very much that’s really helpful. I think car hire seemed quite significant when I was briefly looking, compared to last time we were there! I might DM you if that’s ok. Thanks v much!

Stumpedasatree · 22/04/2022 21:15

@Thisisthelifewevebeengiven can I ask where you are staying in Turkey please? Thanks!

Youneverknowwhatyourgonnaget · 22/04/2022 21:25

£5200 2 weeks travelling from San Francisco to LA and finishing in Las Vegas. 2 adults 2 teens. That’s flights hotels and car hire so we will need probably around 3k spending money. After the last 2 years making memories will be worth every penny!!

Bearsan · 22/04/2022 21:27

Hottubtimemachine · 22/04/2022 21:54

majorca Easter one week flights and apartment £700 total for 4 (so less than £200 each) Spent £££ on eating and drinking in lovely places though.

Nearlyadoctor · 23/04/2022 08:38

Florida 11 nights at Loews Portofino Universal Studios with Virgin holidays - direct flights mid August £3700 plus £800 park tickets. 2 adults , 15 yr old Dd
July 2023 9 day Africa Safari, food included. 2 room in luxury lodge £6600. 2 adults and Dd (16)

Legrandsophie · 23/04/2022 09:00

We’re doing a week in the South of France for around £6,000 but that’s at a spa hotel with flights, car hire, spa access and full board. This two adults and two children.

I have to say that the South of France is extortionate and this will be very much a one off for us having not been on holiday for three years. Was quite excited when I started booking- not having realised just how much holidays have increased by. Our hotel is lovely but the but the beautiful villa near Marseilles that I have been quietly stalling for years is now £8k a week!

Nw22 · 23/04/2022 09:10

@Nearlyadoctor wow the price for that safari is amazing. Who did you book with?

Nearlyadoctor · 23/04/2022 09:44

@Nw22 We booked it through a Hays Travel consultant but the actual Holiday is with Newmarket Holidays. We travel 10th July 2023

Thisisthelifewevebeengiven · 23/04/2022 16:23

Stumpedasatree of course, we are staying at the delphin be grande hotel, Lara beach area. It's only 20 minutes from the airport which was one our needs but I actually think we got a bargain on it looking at some of the costs of these.

TrickyD · 23/04/2022 19:54

Family trip to everyone’s favourite Caribbean hotel, DH and me, two sons, one partner, four grandchildren (5-29) all inclusive approx £20,000. A bit more if other partner can make it.(family commitments)
