Where are you going? & how much is it costing (all in) and how many people is that for?

Interested as I haven’t been away abroad for several years now and have lost sight of the cost of a family holiday

thanks

France in late May for 2 weeks and New York in November for about 7 days.
Have budgeted for both.

poorbuthappy · 21/04/2022 23:22

Gite in France. 1 week. Plus tunnel, diesel, food, spends for 5 of us. £3k

Notdoingthis · 21/04/2022 23:25

Spain 6 nights Easter holidays. Flights (seats, luggage) apartment, airport parking, insurance and pet sitter came to £950. 5 people.

Eurocamp in France in the summer. A three bed caravan. Approximately £1100 for the caravan and ferry crossing. Plus petrol and about £700 spending money (we budget £100 a day). Will be around £2k for the week in total.

Skiing at Christmas. Approximately £1000 a head including spending money. Two bed ski in/ski out self catering apartment.

Both trips for a week. Two adults, two children.

We book them a long time in advance and pay them off bit by bit.

Eurocamp has a £99 deposit so we do that in about December or January, and then pay a bit off each month until the final payment date.

Skiing we book a year in advance (accommodation). This time we've booked with Booking.com and have a pay on departure deal, so we'll put that away after France. Flights are paid in full when they are released and we shop around for the best deals. So this year flying to an airport further away, which saved us £600. Booked the flights in around January this year.
We'll book ski school/hire in August and pay it off then.
Ski passes paid for when we arrive. Budgeted for prior to arrival.

We are just coming to the end of a week's AI in Cape Verdes, around £5k for 5. That was through First Choice/Tui so includes transfers etc but not hotels night before and after, parking etc.

Galwayg · 21/04/2022 23:46

Two adults, one baby, booked through TUI over a year in advance. It’s just over £900 each for a week, 4+ star hotel, all inclusive. The prices have definitely gone up!

Galwayg · 21/04/2022 23:47

Majorca I should have added!

edwinbear · 22/04/2022 00:04

2 weeks, AI, Mexico, 2 adults, 2 DC. £5k, plus about another £2k for diving 😁

Albania - august three weeks. Flights £1100 for 4 / 2 children 2 adults. We have an apartment - however I know if we rented it out it would be €100ish a night - in a gated community. No high rises no loud pumping music just a normal complex on the beach with multi generational families. It has a little shop and a couple of restaurants too. Spend 10 days ish then drive to the inlaws - they live up a mountain with nearest town 45 minutes. No doubt someone will have died or been born so I maybe required for visiting - I’m like the Queen as I always carry a black dress and smart day dress. H has reminded me there is a wedding too - so that’s a bling dress too. I can’t imagine just a beach and no visiting / just the 4 of us for a whole holiday.

10 days in France in August in two campsites - lodge for 5 people. Plus tunnel - about £2,100 but will obvs have food and petrol (ugh) on top.

If you haven’t been for ages don’t forget to budget for passports - the photos and sending them also costs money too. They are currently taking a long time to process them unfortunately.

SalsaLove · 22/04/2022 08:48

End of June in Lake Maggiore, 4 nights, Florence 2 nights, roughly £4k. Florida in November for 10 nights, hotel and car rental, £3k ish.

We are spending more this year because we haven’t had a holiday since 2019.

Rhodes in August, 2 adults and one teen DD who counts as an adult :-( for 2 weeks AI at a 5* = £7k

Not my first choice but DD's health means the original US road trip is not suitable at the moment. So we decided to splash for a good hotel
