Where are you going? & how much is it costing (all in) and how many people is that for?

Interested as I haven’t been away abroad for several years now and have lost sight of the cost of a family holiday

thanks

Two weeks in Portugal in July (just before summer hols start) spa hotel, breakfast included for myself and teen dd £2000.

Pyri · 22/04/2022 09:19

Wow these are all really expensive holidays!!!

Ozgirl75 · 22/04/2022 09:29

Ok here goes.
trip from Aus to the U.K. for a month in June for 4 people. Flights £15,000. Air bnb cottage £3,000, car probably £1,000.
we pay for half of this (work pays the other half) but even so, about £9,000 total.
First trip back for 3 years though.

ForeverLooking · 22/04/2022 09:30

Holiday in Florida with 10 people (family members). Price for flights, car hire, villa, tickets to all attractions was approx £22,000.

Frazzled2207 · 22/04/2022 09:37

9 nights for a family of four in Portugal in June £2k.
this is self catering though.
I think demand is going to be sky high this year, plus cost of everything (notably airplane fuel) going up plus holiday companies need to start making a profit again after 2 disastrous years. Perfect storm really.

sHREDDIES19 · 22/04/2022 08:26

Wowsers some of these prices!

Seconding that.

in 2011 we paid £5k for a honeymoon which was amazing (africa safari) but I told myself we’d never even spend as much money as that on a holiday ever again. Clearly now that’s the going rate for a decent summer hol in school holidays.

SouperNoodle · 22/04/2022 09:41

Mojacar in Spain for a week, 2 adults and 2 kids, all inclusive, £1400

Ozgirl75 · 22/04/2022 09:44

Yep, flights in general are much more this year and the number and availability is way down. We’re actually not paying much more but we’re going with a “worse” airline and also have a 7 hour layover instead of going straight through.
Flights with our normal airlines were nearly £26,000 though.

rookiemere · 22/04/2022 09:57

Hi not going abroad in summer, but in October half term we're going to Lanzarote HB, 4 people in two rooms costing £4k. However we booked a few months ago and it has now gone up to £5k ( Jet2).

Zazdar · 22/04/2022 10:02

Our flights were actually cheaper this year than the previous two years.

Louise0701 · 22/04/2022 11:27

@Frazzled2207 we’ve been looking at an African safari for a few months now and the cheapest we can find is 12k

Harridan1981 · 22/04/2022 11:30

To be fair, 2011 was a long time ago!

SpiderinaWingMirror · 22/04/2022 11:32

We are doing a tui to kefalonia. 2k 10 nights over the spring half term. Going on the Thursday so 2 days out of school for the 14 year old. Breakfast included, so allowing about 100 euro for 3 of us for evening meal/ snacks. Might need a contingency though as I expect prices have increased since 2019 when we last went

SpiderinaWingMirror · 22/04/2022 11:33

Should have said 100 euro per day!

SpiderinaWingMirror · 22/04/2022 11:37

I should also add that I booked in March last year, took a bit of a gamble
I suspect it will be much more to book now or next year

TheChosenTwo · 22/04/2022 11:51

Haven’t booked anything yet, we’ve been looking sporadically since the start of the year, Europe for 2 weeks, 3 adults and 2 dc, self catering villa with pool, not much that meets our requirements for less than about 8 grand.

GnomeDePlume · 22/04/2022 11:53

Provence for 2 weeks at the end of June. Villa for 6 adults with pool.

Villa = £1500 (James Villas, there was some sort of cock up and I think we got a bargain)
Eurotunnel = £450 (going flexi plus as a treat)
En-route hotels = £400 (2 rooms each way)
Fuel/tolls = £400
Food = £750 maybe more

All told around £3500 plus flights/car hire for 2 (4 adults in car, 2 making their own way there)

Cannot wait. DCs are all grown up so this is likely the last big family holiday.

Monkeybutt1 · 22/04/2022 11:55

We are going to Mexcio AI in October for 2 weeks 2 adults and 1 DC - £7000
City break in Bruges in December £1000 plus spending money.

We have been looking at holidays for next year and there are varying costs depending where you go, hotels etc.

bumpermom · 22/04/2022 12:04

£5.5k for 10 nights all inclusive to Spain in Aug. 2 Adults and 3 DC

SoggyPaper · 22/04/2022 12:06

We are going to Latvia for 5 days. Flights and accommodation were £350 for 3 of us.

PurplePinecone · 22/04/2022 12:08

£6k for Mexico AI in July for 2 weeks. Two adults two children

SoggyPaper · 22/04/2022 12:08

I may be the current front runner in the most MN sounding holiday on this thread. Maybe I should claim that for food I’m going to buy a magic chicken while there and feed us for the whole 5 days with it.

Louise0701 · 22/04/2022 12:13

@SoggyPaper 😂😂😂

ilovebagpuss · 22/04/2022 12:17

2 weeks in Spain 3 cities (airbnb)and one near beach. 2 adults 2 teens booked independently. Will be about 3k all in that included spends transport passport x2 and airport parking.
We booked flights Jan so luckily they were cheap.

chocolateoranges33 · 22/04/2022 12:27

2 weeks in the Balearics in early July (in school time). 2 adults, 2 x mid/late teens and a 4 year old. £2500 SC but booked last March. Same holiday to book now is nearly double! We wont be going on holiday next year due to price increase and general cost of living issues now. Just really glad we booked when we did.
