Where are you going? & how much is it costing (all in) and how many people is that for?

Interested as I haven’t been away abroad for several years now and have lost sight of the cost of a family holiday

thanks

15 nights 5* all inclusive in Oman in October for six adults and two kids for just under 6k.
I didn't book it in the UK with a UK company though.

Lasana · 22/04/2022 12:33

I love reading about holidays! We are going to a chalet on the beach in France for a week in August, two adults and one child. The boat is £400 and the chalet is £450 for the week.

Stumpedasatree · 22/04/2022 12:33

Can I ask for those going to Turkey, where or which resort will you go to?

thesugarbumfairy · 22/04/2022 12:38

Family of 4 in school Summer hols £2000 for accommodation at Duinrell in Holland and £600 for ferry. Plus fuel to get there and then food for a week.

Lalaland44 · 22/04/2022 12:39

We’re going to Crystal Admiral Resort and Spa near Side. Flying into Antalya. It has an impressive water park so perfect for my 15 and 11 DC’s.

underneaththeash · 22/04/2022 12:42

We’ve two U.K. holidays in SC houses. One is £2,000 for the week, the other £5,000.
florida in October will cost around £10,000.

Appledrop · 22/04/2022 13:24

We are going to the Maldives for two weeks, four of us, all adults now...£15,000. All inc. Basically making up for the two holidays we missed in the last few years.

BlancmanegeBunny · 22/04/2022 13:30

We are going to Spain for two weeks at the end of July, with two adults and two teens. Rented a private 3 bedroom detached villa with its own pool
Flights, car hire, airport parking, insurance, and villa rental come to £2,500.

We are spending a bit more this year as we haven't been for a while!

I may be the current front runner in the most MN sounding holiday on this thread. Maybe I should claim that for food I’m going to buy a magic chicken while there and feed us for the whole 5 days with it.

Well the real question is how many pairs of pants and PJs you’ll be taking and if you’ll be doing any laundry while there…

Abouttimemum · 22/04/2022 13:35

@ChickinMarango who have you booked Florida with if you don’t mind me asking? I’m looking for next may for us and Ds and can’t get it under £6k (although I haven’t looked very hard currently!!)

Beetlewings · 22/04/2022 14:39

Staying with family in sw france. 2 kids one adult, approx £100 for flights inc bags. Everything else is no extra than we'd spend here for food, days out etc

Norgie · 22/04/2022 15:04

@Lalaland44 Your kids will love it, it's a great hotel. I usually stay at the crystal palace hotel in Side.

Thanks so much Norgie. 🤩 Our first trip to Turkey. Can you recommend any trips/days out from the Hotel? Also, what’s the best currency to take?

10 nights all-inclusive holiday to Tenerife in mid July for me, DH and 2 kids for £2,000.

EnglishGirlApproximately · 22/04/2022 15:25

This is a far from normal year for us as we're going to Disney so for 3 of us I'm expecting to spend about £10k for 14 nights - we definitely couldn't afford to do this every year we've been saving for two years for it.
In a normal year we tend to go in May or October holidays as we don't like it too hot but love a sun holiday. Generally we'd spend around £3-4k on that- either a cruise somewhere like the Med or Canaries or land based resort.

zafferana · 22/04/2022 15:37

Ozgirl75 · 22/04/2022 09:44

Yep, flights in general are much more this year and the number and availability is way down. We’re actually not paying much more but we’re going with a “worse” airline and also have a 7 hour layover instead of going straight through.
Flights with our normal airlines were nearly £26,000 though.

That's not for economy class airline tickets is it @Ozgirl75 ? If so, Shock

bubblicious3 · 22/04/2022 15:40

Florida for 2 weeks in August, 2 adults, 2 teens. 3 diff hotels inc Hard Rock, and Onsite at universal. Car hire - £6.3k

rookiemere · 22/04/2022 09:57

Hi not going abroad in summer, but in October half term we're going to Lanzarote HB, 4 people in two rooms costing £4k. However we booked a few months ago and it has now gone up to £5k ( Jet2).

So-called 'budget' airline tickets are ridiculously expensive now. We flew to Chambery with Jet2 just before Easter and the tickets for 2 adults and 2 DC (one a teen) were £1650, which would've been unbelievable in pre-Covid times. We fly to the US regularly too and so have been very familiar with transatlantic flight costs and they've gone up hugely. We travel a fair bit each year and I'd say our travel budget has had to go up by about 25 or 30% this year.

Norgie · 22/04/2022 15:43

@Lalaland44 Take Euros and a little sterling, they prefer Euros though.
I can recommend a boat trip to Manavgat, but don't book it via the beach vendors as they charge more.
Go to a shop, which you will find locally and have a look through the brochures. They are reasonable in price, particularly if you book the all inclusive trip, which gives you a nice lunch and unlimited drinks on board the boat. That's the best value one. It's a really good day out.

Allmyarseandpeggymartin · 22/04/2022 15:43

I’m in Tenerife now, sat on a sun lounger, mojito in hand. Honestly it’s wonderful.

Paid £1700 for me, DH and DC (free child place) through jet2

NotesOnMyScandal · 22/04/2022 15:43

I priced up a small cottage on the Northumberland coast, I've stayed there before. Two bed but tiny (nice enough) - £1,457 for a week. It was £950 ish the summer pre covid.

I'm SC in Italy for two weeks for the same cost, including train tickets to London, BA flights and three apartments so we can move around a bit inc. two days in Florence at the end for the flight home.
