What would you serve with Boeuf Bourgignon ?

I'm having this for dinner layer this week and I've decided on mixed vegetables and...Yorkshire puddings. Now, this might sound strange or sacrilegious but BB is essentially a beef casserole so YPs are, in my opinion, a reasonable accompaniment.

Is there a more traditional side dish for BB?
What would you have ?

Potatoes with loads of butter. Either mashed or a gratin.
I would have Yorkshires if I fancied it too but mainly potato haha

LightandMomentary · 18/04/2022 18:47

Parmesan mash and green beans.

bellac11 · 18/04/2022 18:48

Mash. Lots.

Potato in some form or a nest of tagliatelle. I think Yorkshires kind of jar but to each her own.

Caspianberg · 18/04/2022 18:49

Mash potatoes and green beans

drumandthebass · 18/04/2022 18:50

Always dauphinoise potatoes, green beans and roasted carrots

NavaniKholinRocks · 18/04/2022 18:50

I’d go for potatoes as either seasoned/herby mash or fondants.

Or for something a bit different, cannellini bean purée. (Have had it with a peppery beef stew, and with duck legs, and it works so well with a rich meat!)

Comedycook · 18/04/2022 18:50

Mash and a green vegetable

CornishGem1975 · 18/04/2022 18:50

Mash or dauphinois if I could be arsed. Green beans and yes Yorkshire pudding as standard.

Jaffajiffy · 18/04/2022 18:52

Dauphinois. The end

Suzi888 · 18/04/2022 18:52

Mash🤭 - pomme purée if you feel fancy!

soupmaker · 18/04/2022 18:53

Steamed cavolo nero, dauphinois potatoes or garlic mash, green beans. Red wine!

Topbird29 · 18/04/2022 18:53

Prob new potatoes and green veg of some sort. But with a crusty bit of bread to mop up the gravy. Yorkshire sounds good though!

Dillydollydingdong · 18/04/2022 18:53

Mashed potatoes and green veg.

SolasAnla · 18/04/2022 18:53

Red wine. The end.🤷🏼‍♀️

FunkyPhantom · 18/04/2022 18:53

Buttery mash or buttery new potatoes, green beans and a plate of buttered crusty french bread.......essential for mopping up all that beefy, red winey goodness at the end 👍

MrsWOLF1 · 18/04/2022 18:54

Here in France its served with frites.

JaninaDuszejko · 18/04/2022 18:54

Another vote for dauphinoise potatoes. Yum.

Theimpossiblegirl · 18/04/2022 18:57

I wouldn't have thought of Yorkshire puddings with this dish but what a fab idea! I'd go for mash and green veg usually.

Trulyweird1 · 18/04/2022 18:57

Dauphinois or cauli cheese. But never both .

KezzabellaB · 18/04/2022 18:57

Mash and carrots!

TheYearOfSmallThings · 18/04/2022 18:57

Bread.

beenaroundtheblox · 18/04/2022 18:59

Dauphinois potatoes, broccoli and carrots.

beenaroundtheblox · 18/04/2022 19:00

Or cauliflower cheese, roasted new potatoes, carrots.

4thtimethecharm · 18/04/2022 19:03

Chips, bread, or mash. Something properly carb-y that can soak up the sauce.

Dauphinois would feel too rich for me next to it, and would not allow for the 'soaking up'.
