What would you serve with Boeuf Bourgignon ?

I'm having this for dinner layer this week and I've decided on mixed vegetables and...Yorkshire puddings. Now, this might sound strange or sacrilegious but BB is essentially a beef casserole so YPs are, in my opinion, a reasonable accompaniment.

Is there a more traditional side dish for BB?
What would you have ?

Tagliatelle every time with a well-dressed green salad and garlic bread.
@speakout you're making your Yorkies all wrong!
Yes... if your Yorkies are stodgy and oily then you'd be better off cheating like DH does with Aunt Bessie's. They're light and crisp.

We had this last night, served with new potatoes, roast carrots, tender stem broccoli and cauliflower cheese. I would have preferred mash though!

Some lovely bread. Bread, casserole and salad is brilliant.

SheSaysShush · 18/04/2022 20:02

Mash. To soak up the juices.

tubbylittletwat · 18/04/2022 20:06

Yorkshires sound like an excellent idea! I would usually serve it with creamy mash with plenty of white pepper in, or pommes marquise if I was going overboard.

TillyTopper · 18/04/2022 20:11

Malbec.

Greensleeves · 18/04/2022 20:12

Depends what mood I was in. Mash and green beans, or crusty bread and butter, or little roasted potatoes and buttered root veg.

ABitOfAShitShow · 18/04/2022 20:13

@LightandMomentary

Parmesan mash and green beans.
This!
Pinchofnom · 18/04/2022 20:14

Dauphinois or fondant potatoes with green beans.

Riverlee · 18/04/2022 20:15

Mash potato and green veg

Geranium1984 · 18/04/2022 20:17

potatoes dauphinoise and green beans. Yum!!

ButtockUp · 18/04/2022 20:19

Rice.
Possibly mash.
Never dauphinois potatoes as it's far too rich.

Soffit · 18/04/2022 20:21

Aligot and hispi cabbage.

Libertaire · 18/04/2022 20:21

Yorkies with bourguignon sounds like a great idea. I would probably do a mash as well, maybe carrot & swede.

SquirrelFan · 18/04/2022 20:30

Wide egg noodles, tagliatelle in a pinch. Green beans or broccoli.

chisanunian · 18/04/2022 20:38

Mash, and green beans or savoy cabbage.

PurpleDaisies · 18/04/2022 20:38

Mash, broccoli, garlic bread

PurpleDaisies · 18/04/2022 20:39

I like the idea of Yorkshire puddings

MrsSkylerWhite · 18/04/2022 20:41

Creamy mashed potatoes, fine green beans and extra jug of the sauce.

Terfydactyl · 18/04/2022 20:46

I'm obviously the wrong person to ask, I did Yorkshire puddings with lamb curry 🤷‍♀️ and I'm not sorry.
So yeah do Yorkshires.

Alightjacket · 18/04/2022 20:49

Going against the grain here. I sometimes have it with couscous. If not that then new potatoes with butter. Crushed a bit.

MollyRover · 18/04/2022 20:50

Jamie Oliver has a recipe with sautéed celeriac, potatoes, garlic and rosemary all mashed up together to go with beef bourgignon that's really lovely and not too stodgy

BillyAndTheSillies · 18/04/2022 20:53

Mash and something green like beans or kale.

DH used to serve his with a baguette, french mustard and grated gruyere grilled. An absolute winner.

fufulina · 18/04/2022 21:03

Dauph and green beans
