Things that are not fit for purpose

I am finding this increasingly of late, and it's driving me nuts. Is there no product testing any more?

I ordered Tippex with my weekly shop, and they sent me an alternative that looks like a pen. You're meant to squeeze the pen for the tippex to come out. Husbands grip is strong and it works for him. No matter how hard I squeeze, I'm unable to get any liquid to come out. So who is that made for? Just men?

Packets of ham/bacon, where it says "Peel here". Nope, the plastic just rips randomly, so you have to cut the whole thing off.

Milk cartons when you pour, the milk goes everywhere because the spout doesn't work.

Writing on things that is the same colour as the item, so you can't read it. See also, best before dates on eggs - can't read as it's always smeared.

Shredders that get paper jams within minutes.

Public loos - often the bolt doesn't align with the "bolt holder" (?) so you can't lock the door.

Train loos - no water in the taps.

Dog harnesses that dogs can back out of.

Aargh..........

Those public toilets with the sensor flush that goes off if you so much as move your arm or lean back a tiny fraction.

MrsDeaconClaybourne · 15/04/2022 14:27

Teeth!

Meant to eating but almost all food and drink damages them in some way. Especially stuff like fruit that's good for your body but full of sugar and acid. Even cleaning damages them if you do it too close to eating said foodstuffs

@vipersnest1

The female body..... Why in earth do we have a hole in our pelvic floor that our internal organs try to escape through? (I may be a bit bitter as I had a prolapse repair which has failed so I have to go under the knife again.)
😂😂😂 so true !

@BarrowInFurnessRailwayStation

Searbelts in cars. Even on the lowest setting they end up cutting across my neck. I'm 5ft 4, so not particularly short.
If your a tall man you are fine but we all Die - women are far less safe in accidents because everything is designed for men. Gives me the rage - same for all pregnant woman who have to drive. Why are our lives less important?
Toomanyradishes · 15/04/2022 14:36

@NETSRIK

The Prime Minister. He'd be fit for purpose as a children's entertainer though.
YABU, you would leave him to entertain the kids, go to get the party food out and find him hiding in the fridge...
Oblomov22 · 15/04/2022 14:49

Supermarket plastic wrapping of veg. No, I don't want 3 peppers, I only want 2.

TortugaRumCakeQueen · 15/04/2022 16:02

In that case I will go with so-called "spreadable butter" that still rips the bread even when it's been out of the fridge for five minutes

We keep our in the cupboard, for this very reason.

@ThisIsNotARealAvo

Many petrol pumps. You have to squeeze the handle in a certain way, not too hard or it clicks off, not too gently or nothing comes out. I find it so annoying.
Omg this. So annoying. I used to think it was just me doing something wrong when it clicked off all the time.
TortugaRumCakeQueen · 15/04/2022 16:32

Funny clip about petrol pumps, from Chewing the Fat

I'm totally defeated by washing pod boxes which have childproof lids.

MumThatsNotFair · 15/04/2022 17:15

Mirrors put up by men, so I can only see my forehead.

Theunamedcat · 15/04/2022 17:20

Petrol pumps that go "both sides" it got stuck IN MY CAR and I thought I was going to have to find someone to get it out It won't stretch so its at the correct angle maybe I need to pull it harder? FML why don't they teach you this shit in school my car is NARROW

Onesmallstepforaman · 15/04/2022 17:52

Hand dryers in public loos. Very rarely actually dry your hands... and blow excess water onto the floor! What genius thought that was a good plan?

WeBuiltCisCityOnSexistRoles · 15/04/2022 17:58

Auto correct.

I fucking hate it. And why does it always always change fucking to ducking?! Who the fuck even says "ducking" (apart from people who dislike the FWR boards/posters Wink)

dipdye · 15/04/2022 17:59

NHS

The current nursery system - needs to be subsidised

WeBuiltCisCityOnSexistRoles · 15/04/2022 18:00

Also - and these are usually at the back of the neck, just to maximise the rage - tiny buttons with tiny loop fastenings. Every time you think you've made the loop big enough to get the button through, you haven't and the button slips out of your fingers!

I remember throwing an item out of my bedroom window the other week as it was annoying me so much, even more annoyingly I can't remember what it was.

Happenchance · 15/04/2022 18:01

Towels and bedding that can't be washed at 60 degrees, if necessary.

The lids on liquid soap pumps. I struggle to get the pump to work on a new bottle.

IbizaToTheNorfolkBroads · 15/04/2022 18:08

Sock toes

I always go through them in 3 wears or less, whether they are part of a cheap multipack, or £10/pair.

Daenerys77 · 15/04/2022 18:13

The human body. Especially mine.

2DogsOnMySofa · 15/04/2022 18:19

This motorhome we're currently hiring for a week. It's not the one we wanted as someone has damaged it. This one has a fixed bed at the back that a small teenager would struggle to be comfortable in, let alone 2 adults. I've tried sleeping in the bed you make out of the front seats but it's sooooo uncomfortable. I can't wait to go home tomorrow and be able to stretch out and get some sleep.

LightDrizzle · 15/04/2022 18:22

Those stick-on hooks that promise to bear a weight of 12kg or similar nonsense.

I clean the surface with white spirit, dry it, follow all instructions, hang a brolly on it for a couple of days and find both brolly and hook on the floor of the cupboard. Every time. I don’t know why I fall for it.

2DogsOnMySofa · 15/04/2022 18:22

Womens genitalia. Who the fuck designed it! Internal tube all moist and warm, brilliant for breeding bacteria. The waste tubes are right next door to the warm and moist tube. A hole in the exit for all your womanly internal organs to fall out of. Periods! Wtf is that all about. Don't even get me started on menopause Grin

Plantstrees · 15/04/2022 18:24

Supermarket packaging. So many items that I struggle to unwrap or take lids off. Those horrid plastic soup pots I have given up on and the clear lids that you need to remove before cooking are so frustrating.

Teeth - I don't understand why evolution has failed on this one.

Loo seats - yes they all come loose

Chargers and electrical devices - why so many different fittings. Just when I thought USBs were standardising the system someone changes them again. Similarly light bulbs - infinite variations so I always come home with the wrong ones.

The worst one I discovered today - a swimsuit that says in the label that it is not to be worn in water! WTF were they thinking!

Cherrysoup · 15/04/2022 18:28

Jars of gherkins. Much loved by me and no doubt by older, less strong people. Can I open the lid without giving myself a hernia? No, I fucking can’t. Even my DH, big strong bloke, has problems. Using those grippy things doesn’t help. I have resorted to making a hole in the lid with a screwdriver. I know you don’t want them leaking, but it’s not Fort Knox!

MarieInternette · 15/04/2022 18:32

Eyes.
Most people wear glasses for some reason
