I've had a look through info on purdah and nothing seems to directly apply to the activity of the police or criminal investigations as far as I can see.

There isn’t anything in the purdah rules. The May elections are local and central government and police forces carry on as usual. Someone’s leant on the Met.

DuncinToffee · 21/04/2022 17:07

Janiie is doing a JRM in goading us.

jgw1, I hear Rwanda is welcoming those not welcome here, perfect for Mogg and nanny.

itsgettingweird · 21/04/2022 17:08

@Roussette

" So Sunak is having his kitchen sink unblocked and he wanders through the non existent connecting door to Johnson's gaff whilst Carrie is breastfeeding the baby to have a brew. "

The workman wanders through. Not Sunak. Obviously. 😁

It's actually hilarious to I,alone a work an wandering through as Carrie is sat in pants breastfeeding her baby why Wilf runs around and just says "hi, put the kettle on"

So both the Prime Minister and Chancellor would rather be in India than the UK.
Is the true of all the cabinet, or do they have plans to move to other countries?

I wonder where would have JRM.

I was looking through the brexit thread earlier; if they’re right apparently he purchased some land in Rwanda a while back….

itsgettingweird · 21/04/2022 17:09

Once again how we see things differently. He is smiling and pleasant just probably impatient with Beth's attempts at interviewing.

Let me correct this sentence for you

Once again how I alone see things differently. He is smiling and pleasant just probably impatient with Beth's attempts at interviewing.

DuncinToffee · 21/04/2022 17:17

Cornettoninja that was my guess on the Brexit thread Grin The plot of land was something mentioned on twitter, not sure if there was any truth in it.

We can't rely on the Met to do their job without fear or favour.

But does it have donkeys on it?
I feel it is important we find out, or only asses?

itsgettingweird · 21/04/2022 17:22

Just seen Steve Bakers speech.

I loved the dramatic flutter of the paper to the bench before stating "the gig is up".

I thought that was very cleverly worded - because Johnson really did/does just see this as gig he's performing.

Well I’m happy to give up at JRM so they can definitely have at least one! He’d have to take nanny with him though, bless.

@DuncinToffee 😁 We need to start using the word ‘allegedly’ a lot more around these parts.

Piggywaspushed · 21/04/2022 17:37

I saw again Johnson's 'I was too fat' speech last night. In that he looked humbled, slimmer, ironically healthier. The comparison with him in parliament recently is stark. He isn't a well man.

CakeAmbushAlert · 21/04/2022 17:58

Just watched the clip of Johnson & Rigby. Irritated are you PM that this won't go away, that people aren't as stupid as you believe, that your gaslighting isn't working.

People give a shit when you lie in parliament and apply one rule to them but not yourself and your inner circle.

itsgettingweird · 21/04/2022 18:09

Yes he is getting irritated that their "we want to talk about ......" is not longer working.

I think when the things everyone else's wants to discuss weren't so continuous, bog and getting bigger it kind of worked. With covid they had vaccines.

But Ukraine isn't working. It's not our war. We are providing support but it doesn't need to be Johnson in charge. Ben Wallace is leading it anyway.

Blossomtoes · 21/04/2022 18:26

There was a fantastic interview with a woman in Wakefield (by election upcoming) on PM. She was talking about all those inconvenient things like integrity, honesty and honour and how she wanted those qualities in a politician. Rumour has it that Ed Balls might stand there.

I'm not digging! the suggestion that he is 'cracking' when he just clearly cba with Rugby's ridiculous questions is a bit of a stretch.

He's clearly irate and thinks he is too important to be asked questions about why he is a lawbreaking tit.

He's a fucking embarrassment to the entire country.

balalake · 21/04/2022 19:03

Of course Mr Johnson is upset being interviewed by Beth Rigby, someone who asks awkward questions.

Mr Johnson would prefer to be interviewed by Laura Kuennsberg, who he spends his whole time during the interview staring at her breasts.

newnamethanks · 21/04/2022 19:24

I feel quite encouraged by the sight of the sparsely populated Tory benches today and frankly, if even Steve Baker has had enough of Mr Charisma, then we may soon be waving him goodbye.

It doesn't matter if a lockdown gathering was for someone's birthday or not, says a judge 'Were you there with more than 2 people?' Yes = guilty This comes not from a #Partygate probe at Downing St but the prosecution of a new mother who could have done with a lawyer

ENoeuf · 21/04/2022 20:33

The clip is interesting I don’t think he’s rattled or worried, I think he’s irritated and amused. All the panto eye rolling and looking round for an audience - it’s what he does, his thing, playing to the crowd, making them laugh at the person Boris is bored with.
i can’t believe all the Tories are so desperate to be in power that they keep the man there. Ironic that the ones who want to be MPs are too scared to oust the current cabinet and PM.
my theory is the current cabinet etc are in it to increase their existing portfolios in a sinister way - a few years getting them in shape and then off out.

Well really why should he ask questions put to him by a woman?
He knows what a woman is and where their place is don't you know.

NamelessNancy · 21/04/2022 21:05

I might not be the only one (sorry haven't read all the threads) but the keep seeing the title as "Boris has been fired". I can't take the disappointment again.

Fulmine · 21/04/2022 22:55

I'm not digging! the suggestion that he is 'cracking' when he just clearly cba with Rugby's ridiculous questions is a bit of a stretch.

The very fact that he's trying to imply that it's all beneath him is what shows he's cracking - because he just doesn't have any answers. A competent PM with nothing to hide would have no problem with answering tough questions.

The problem for him is that his normal response is along the lines of "This really isn't important, the public is much more interested in vaccination/Ukraine/ whatever else I can think of that isn't about parties or the economic shitshow". But, of course, the fact that this is all still in the news demonstrates that the public certainly is interested. More importantly, trying to imply that the huge constitutional implications around a PM lying to Parliament isn't important just shows that either he has no understanding of the constitution or he's backed into a corner and can't think of a way out.

Notonthestairs · 22/04/2022 08:47

Interesting thread setting out where we might be and what might happen! Grin

(Short version - Johnson will be out soonish, successors will soon start jockeying for position if they haven't already).
