I think he just said he wasn't going to vote. What a cop out

Who was that? Abstaining is ok if it allows the motion to pass, it just means someone isn’t prepared to go on record as voting against the PM’s interests but also won’t vote in their interests.

hey @JaniieJones, given your criticism of Statmers apology whats your take on this statement Boris has made repeatedly, including yesterday, despite being informed it’s wrong and misleading?

Bob Neill.
I want to know where our MPs stand.
Loving Ed Davies speech as well.

Bone really is the useful idiot.

Is Bone related to a persistent poster on here?

'Carrie doesn't live in Number 10.'

"As a result of many internal alterations over the years, the three terraced houses are internally a single complex; one can walk from number 11 to number 10, via an internal connecting door,"

From wiki for you. So yes I maybe wouldn't be surprised to find my neighbours workmen having a brew if we all shared one inconnecting building.

I live where my partner works. That doesn't mean I am allowed to wander around the buildings as I fancy and the business doesn't deal with anything nearly as sensitive as presumably 10 Downing Street does. And if my friend or interior decorator was to wander about the offices I am pretty sure I know how long my partner would remain in the job.

Notonthestairs · 21/04/2022 13:22

The gig is up. I'm in agreement with Steve Baker! (I did wonder if SB fancies his chances).

jgw1 · 21/04/2022 13:22

Cornettoninja · 21/04/2022 12:55

Steve Baker appealing to MP’s Christianity and redemption 😂

Remind me how the Archbishop of Canterbury’s Easter sermon was received by tories?

Are Christians supposed to be honest, I forget?

jgw1 · 21/04/2022 13:26

littledrummergirl · 21/04/2022 12:57

I think he just said he wasn't going to vote. What a cop out

The thinking now is surely that there won't actually be a vote surely?

There aren't many Tories there and they probably won't enforce a division and so unless Labour make a lot of noise when the motion is put to parliament in opposition to it, it will be done without a vote.

BREAKING: Scotland Yard confirms @evansma story that it will not be issuing any more Partygate updates before the May local elections.

Hhhmmm from the little I've read I thought maybe purdah wouldn't apply.

ilovesooty · 21/04/2022 13:36

I didn't expect Steve Baker to say Johnson should go.

Did Kruger really say Johnson was anointed by the people? 😮

littledrummergirl · 21/04/2022 13:47

He did. I think he shocked everyone.

HarrietPierce · 21/04/2022 13:56

BREAKING": Senior Tory Steve Baker calls on Boris Johnson to quit. "I'm sorry, that for not obeying the letter and the spirit.... the Prime Minister now should be long gone. I'll certainly vote for this motion but he should just know that the gig's up".

Even baker thinks he should go @JaniieJones,

HarrietPierce · 21/04/2022 13:56

Baker

littledrummergirl · 21/04/2022 13:56

Alexander stafford- "defending Putin saves lives"

WTF!

Piggywaspushed · 21/04/2022 13:58

janiie - polls are representative because they are random. They aren't people who fancy 'participating'. That indeed would skew results. So you haven't been included simply out of chance.

As for people wanting Starmer to succeed Johnson - surely anxious Tories should want Boris out and a new leader? He is tarnishing the reputation of his party as the party of honesty, decent standards in personal life and the party of the CofE. My dyed blue grandma would turn in her grave.

Blossomtoes · 21/04/2022 14:04

Just heard World at One - a commentator just said that Johnson is fast becoming an electoral asset for Labour. I tend to agree with that. The local election results are going to be so interesting.

Alexandra2001 · 21/04/2022 14:15

Not quite sure why the Met cannot just continue on their current timetable? if that means more fines issued or not, so be it.

Its not the Police's job to alter their investigations to favour any political party.

the80sweregreat · 21/04/2022 14:24

Steve ( extreme sports) Baker MP put the boot in earlier on today apparently.
If the ERG are having a fewwobbles, then Boris Johnson might decide to stay in India a bit longer maybe?

jgw1 · 21/04/2022 14:28

By the Met saying they are not going to announce anything until after the local elections, it rather indicates (as if any of us except @JaniieJones ) didn't know it already that there will be more fines. And frankly a few more for staffers, might not have been enough to halt announcements, so I would suggest it means more for Boris.

Which is frankly bad news for Boris, because spreading it out just reminds people of his lies.

DuncinToffee · 21/04/2022 14:34

Tory MP Anthony Mangnall, who submitted a letter on Feb 2, says that "unfortunately not enough" has changed for him to withdraw it

"I do forgive the Prime Minister for making those mistakes, but I do not forgive him for misleading the House as I see it"

ClaudineClare · 21/04/2022 14:36

Definitely more fines incoming for Johnson. I fear janiie will be squirming like an eel to excuse him, despite what she has said about a potential Abbagate.

Blossomtoes · 21/04/2022 14:48

Abbagate will be very interesting indeed. I’m looking forward to it immensely.

jgw1 · 21/04/2022 14:49

Blossomtoes · 21/04/2022 14:48

Abbagate will be very interesting indeed. I’m looking forward to it immensely.

Well here's hoping that Boris doesn't find his decency and resign before then, else we will miss out on that pleasure.

the80sweregreat · 21/04/2022 14:51

Abbagate.
A photo of Boris Johnson dressed up as Agnatha would be epic : very unlikely , but it would make me smile.

All flats that have a communal area work like that. I can walk through my building to 3 other dwellings.

But their actually flats are separate dwellings me he whey they are no 10/11/12. With separate front doors and keys to them.

I couldn't go into my neighbours house as it was against the law.

They shouldn't have been in the cabinet room as a) it's a place of work and they aren't employed there and b) it wasn't part of the communal areas of the dwellings you walk through and last to get elsewhere.
