Those who want BJ out, hope to reverse Brexit and daydream about Starmer being pm will be busy banging away angrily on their keyboards

Tone deaf and an example of a complete failure to comprehend the issue or the people (presuming you’re in the UK) you share a country with.

Brexit is irrelevant, Labour are largely irrelevant other than voicing an opposition to Boris in parliament - this isn’t even about the tories just yet (though the longer they shield this cabinet the more fragile their grip on power) it’s about holding a corrupt and incompetent prime minister to account.

Johnson resigning won’t result in Starmer as PM, it’ll be another Tory, but as an improvement on what we have now, hopefully one that heeds the consequences of dishonesty and unwarranted arrogance and is capable of leading a country without scandal at every turn.

'I may also be wasting my time, but if enough individuals write expressing their disgust, perhaps there will be some impact'

Tbh I think it's an even split. Those who want BJ out, hope to reverse Brexit and daydream about Starmer being pm will be busy banging away angrily on their keyboards. Those who can clearly see that these were workplace interactions and they weren't visiting dying relatives when others couldn't will be voicing their support.

The polls suggest many people are the former but then I've never participated in a poll nor have any of my family and friends so you do wonder how representative they are.

@JaniieJones This may appear a strange question, but does your partner often end up going to work with you, even though they don't work at the same place as you?

Does your interior decorator often end up at work with you as well?

That is before we get on to, how was it essential for the partner and interior decorator to be at a work party?

If he lived in the building I worked in then yes I can imagine our paths would cross, ditto workmen/decorators. In fact we had some new windows fitted mid lockdown and I gave them a cup of tea and a KitKat Shock

Carrie doesn't live in Number 10. The decorator was working in a flat in the property next door. Would you expect to find your neighbours' workmen sitting in your kitchen having a cuppa?

littledrummergirl · 21/04/2022 11:30

Absolutely use my points. It's a ridiculous state of affairs.

I'm not expecting a reply from my MP, I've been writing almost monthly this year with no response. I still think it's worth giving my opinion.

ilovesooty · 21/04/2022 11:34

Johnson says he plans to fight the next election. This is typical behaviour from him.

DuncinToffee · 21/04/2022 11:34

Clever play by Labour

Looks like Boris Johnson forced his own whips into a slightly chaotic retreat. Unclear whether this was planned or not… twitter.com/KateEMcCann/status/1517086753911447553?t=2W3S5PIQ96yPUh_uc6SihA&s=19

SueSaid · 21/04/2022 11:40

'Carrie doesn't live in Number 10.'

"As a result of many internal alterations over the years, the three terraced houses are internally a single complex; one can walk from number 11 to number 10, via an internal connecting door,"

From wiki for you. So yes I maybe wouldn't be surprised to find my neighbours workmen having a brew if we all shared one inconnecting building.

DuncinToffee · 21/04/2022 11:48

Beth Rigby
Less than 24 hrs ago, PM said on plane “best thing to do is for the investigation to be concluded” & “we have to wait for that & then Sue Gray have her final say” > Now u-turn & free vote on unamended lab motion. Senior Tory tells me threat of big rebellion forces whips’ hand….

SueSaid · 21/04/2022 12:06

Oh I see Starmer has withdrawn inaccurate comments made yesterday at PMQs. Not so forensic afterall.

DuncinToffee · 21/04/2022 12:10

Keir Starmer - "The government have corrected the record & said that Boris Johnson's only referred to the Archbishop of Canterbury & not the BBC... so I'm more than happy to withdraw my comments at PMQs yesterday.

If only Johnson had the decency to correct his record of repeated lies.

Cornettoninja · 21/04/2022 12:11

SueSaid · 21/04/2022 12:06

Yet you missed the point that it’s perfectly possible to stand up in parliament and admit an error if your intention isn’t to mislead.

Have you got your blinkers on to the rest of what has taken place this morning?

CakeAmbushAlert · 21/04/2022 12:11

Watching HOC live now - Starmer is so right that this is about the credibility of politicians in future,

Tory MPs minimising. Accusing other parties of trying to gain votes in local elections on back of this issue. SNP putting it back into perspective, 'The Prime Minister of the United Kingdom is a liar... the public know it to be true. The house was misled deliberately because the Prime Minister knew the truth...The Prime Minister was at the parties he denied existed'
'It's a terrible truth. To Tory MPs grow a backbone, do the right thing'

Decent and honest, though.

DuncinToffee · 21/04/2022 12:15

Christopher Hope

^NEW Conservative MPs are being sent home and told they don't have to vote on Labour's Privileges committee motion.
This means the motion will almost certainly pass and Boris Johnson will be investigated for misleading the Commons, as soon as Scotland Yard finishes its work^
^Images of any parties taken by taxpayer-funded photographers in Downing St might now be published (if the Tory-majority committee agrees to it).
This will severely test Boris Johnson's defence he did not "deliberately mislead" MPs, which he set out as recently as Tuesday^

CakeAmbushAlert · 21/04/2022 12:18

Johnson does not care a jot about the damage he is doing to his party and to politics in general.

Egocentric arse.

Peter Bone just now out in defence 'alledged parties' the PM has been fined you fool!

That's the offices. The flats are completely seperate and private. She lives in a flat above number 11.

This is what I find incredible people are missing. Partygate has now transcended political cheerleading, it isn’t about the colour of the rosette, it’s the very simple fact that a proven lawbreaker and ‘alleged’ liar is holding the office of prime minister by stalling and misdirection.

Not caring or being sick of it is one thing but the fervent defence of the indefensible is quite another. Anybody willingly refusing to see that is condoning corruption.

It’s sounding more and more ridiculous to bring up distractions like brexit, party leads, continuity during a crisis of your choosing etc. None of that takes away from the simple fact that Boris broke his own law and is has now attempted to prevent further parliamentary investigation.

littledrummergirl · 21/04/2022 12:28

I like William Wragg. I don't know much about him but he is coming across very well in his speech.

CakeAmbushAlert · 21/04/2022 12:31

Peter Bone is an absolute knob. His opinion is the PM didn't knowingly mislead. So his defence of his leader is that he didn't understand the laws he made!

Making the Conservatives look fools either way.

Notonthestairs · 21/04/2022 12:35

Being dragged out time after time to defend the indefensible. Yup. That's where Johnson has dragged them to.

Blossomtoes · 21/04/2022 12:38

Bone really is the useful idiot.

DuncinToffee · 21/04/2022 12:38

Wragg spot on
“The invasion of a sovereign nation by a dictatorial aggressor should not be a reason why we should accept lower standards ourselves.”

littledrummergirl · 21/04/2022 12:52

Sir Bob Neill must have so many splinters in his arse.
Get off the fence already.

Cornettoninja · 21/04/2022 12:55

Steve Baker appealing to MP’s Christianity and redemption 😂

Remind me how the Archbishop of Canterbury’s Easter sermon was received by tories?
