Do you prefer fruit or veg?

I much prefer veg. I like nearly everything and eat lots of carrots, peas, broccoli and cauliflower especially. I also like most salad vegetables.

The only fruit I really like is bananas and occasionally avocados. I don’t particularly like apples, oranges, grapes, strawberries or any of the common fruits.

I’m thinking about it as trying to increase my fruit and veg intake and I’m not managing five a day!

I prefer vegetables.

Fruit is unpredictable. Sometimes delicious, sometimes sharp or sour or mushy.

I need stability in my life.

And you can do lots with vegetables. Sex them up with herbs and oils. Fruit mostly needs to be eaten as it is.

Veg. I'm not actually that bothered by fruit although I like a range. But ear veg most lunches and dinners

French fries. You have your answer.

I love veg - not much fruit I would eat, it is too sweet for me.

hedwigismyowl · 13/04/2022 19:22

Veg

Do like fruit but I'd rather eat a plate of veg/ salad rather than a dish of fruit.

Yes I know salad contains things like tomatoes which are officially fruit, but the point remains!

grapehyacinthisactuallyblue · 13/04/2022 19:23

I hardly eat any fruit, except for berries. It just became a habit after having a child with lots of allergies.

But I do eat a lot of veg, including massive salad everyday. So, I do think not eating much of fruit isn't doing any damage.

SheWoreYellow · 13/04/2022 19:23

Much much prefer fruit. I eat fruit for pleasure and only eat salad and veg because it’s good for me.

Rememberitwell · 13/04/2022 19:23

I find most fruit too sharp. If I eat strawberries or raspberries I need sugar and cream on top but that defeats the object of eating healthily.

Veg. No sweet tooth. I'm just never inclined to eat fruit, it's a chore to me.

nocoolnamesleft · 13/04/2022 19:24

Definitely fruit. I think the only fruit I've ever tried and not liked is grapefruit. Really struggle with a lot of vegetable flavours/textures.

WinterCarlisle · 13/04/2022 19:25

Veg definitely.

GeoffLynton · 13/04/2022 19:25

Veg.

I do like fruit now and then but I don't have much of a sweet tooth.

Svara · 13/04/2022 19:25

Banana at breakfast, two veg at lunch, three at dinner is an easy 6 a day. Do you eat fruit like tomatoes, peppers and cucumber?

A580Hojas · 13/04/2022 19:25

Yes - you can cook with vegetables and make lovely main courses out of them. Fruit is at best a snack and I don't tend to snack.

fitzbilly · 13/04/2022 19:26

Fruit.

I'd happily give up all other food and just exist on fruit.

emuloc · 13/04/2022 19:27

Vegetables

TheSmallAssassin · 13/04/2022 19:28

Vegetables are better for you than fruit, so why not just eat more veg to get your five a day if you don't like fruit much?

LoveSpringDaffs · 13/04/2022 19:30

I love both.

However, I'm diabetic which I control through diet (low carb) so fruit doesn't fit into that really. I'll have berries sometimes and add a passion fruit into Greek yogurt or something, but mostly I just do without. 🥲

Eat a shed load of veg (and some veg fruit like cucumber/tomatoes/avocado)

FourEyesGood · 13/04/2022 19:31

I definitely prefer vegetables. I could happily go a few days without eating any fruit, but I really miss veg if I go a day without.

LoveSpringDaffs · 13/04/2022 19:31

No need to force yourself to eat fruit though, plenty of nutrition in a selection of vegetables!!

DuchessOfSausage · 13/04/2022 19:31

Veg

Rememberitwell · 13/04/2022 19:33

Yes true about not needing to force myself to eat fruit. Sometimes I buy it and it’s wasted eg if I buy blueberries they are expensive and don’t always get eaten by me or the dc.

Veg, used to be fruit but it doesn't agree with me anymore so probably only have a piece a day of fruit, if that.

BigSandyBalls2015 · 13/04/2022 19:33

Veg. Not keen on fruit as I don’t have a sweet tooth. Could eat a big plate of veg on its own 😋

VeganGod · 13/04/2022 19:34

I love both but I eat more veg. I eat salad for lunch most days and then more veg for dinner. I have an apple and some berries every day though.
