I read her first article ten years and was mentally joining in with the “who the fuck does she think she is” pile on. I read this one yesterday and thought “good for her”! Sure, she’s no Jennifer Anniston but good on her for being confident and feeling good, I need to take a leaf out of her book. This is really not something I ever thought I’d say

I'm another one who has changed my mind about her. Life is short, everything is shit right now, so what if she has a spring in her step because she actually likes herself? Women are brought up to be their own worst enemy, if you think you're hot stuff then apparently you're shallow and deluded.

All the posters saying "She's not even that good looking !" are missing the point. You do not have to be beautiful to be attractive, it's all about confidence, ease, charisma, charm. If she sidles up to a man in the supermarket, all warm smiles and sparkling eyes he will find her attractive, that's how people work.

She's just playing a role and earning a crust while doing it. Liz Jones does the same except her story is a tragic comedy, feel sorry for me thing. Whatever pays your mortgage, I suppose.

The tone of this article starts off slightly differently to her offerings ten years ago but ends up the same. She thinks women don't like her because she's beautiful but she's completely mistaken. I disagree with a PP that people think her confidence is misplaced vanity. Women don't like her because in her head she is constantly in competition with them for male attention. She compares her looks to those of other woman constantly throughout the article and reports all the positive male attention she's received. Most women find this kind of thing tedious, we want to make friends not be competing. Far from being confident she comes across as deeply insecure which is a shame because she does look good.

I agree with this. She looks lovely, the floral midi dress really suits her as does her hair. It is the “he slips me extra lemons” but wouldn’t do this for those other women who have no charisma and magnetism, unlike moi … stuff that makes her annoying.

Ah, Samantha Brick. She's like something from a simpler time. A halcyon and more innocent day before the arrival of Katie Hopkins and her ilk.

I remember after her initial 'I is the most bee-yoo-tiful' article she did a few photoshoots with her husband. He looked liked he'd stepped out of an Asterix and Obelix comic book.

He really did.

I like Samantha Brick though.
I also think she has a point about women not liking her. I think for some women they look at her and realise that’s she’s not a classically beautiful woman.
She’s a woman who has worked hard on keeping herself slim and attractive.
And quite simply the women who don’t like her haven’t.
And they are a bit envious.

I wouldn't have recognized her. She has certainly slimmed down and Europeanized her look. In between then and now, we have been hit by an epidemic of narcissism so it's just not controversial anymore. She milked it for what it was worth at the time.
See her again in ten years when she is even more pointless, I suppose.

Catty? I've just watched the interview , Ruth Langsford was the opposite of catty , if anything the Pyschologist wasn't falling for Ms Bricks delusional self admiration.

Soffit is right, in the 10 years since Samantha's first article we have gained Instagram, it's totally normal and accepted for women of any age to pout like a soulless fish for a selfie and invite comments like "What a beaut" "pretty girl" etc.

Why do people put pouty selfies on social media if they're not saying "Look at me I'm gorgeous", the same way Samantha Brick does in an article for the Daily Mail.

In a way, I think classically beautiful is what she is......just not fashionably, or of the moment beautiful.

You won't find many people with better skin; Jessica Alba, perhaps. Samantha has a high smooth forehead and sparkly eyes. Her features are well-proportioned. She isn't a siren, by our contemporary definition, as she isn't pouting or looking sexual; she looks intelligent and focused on what's in front of her and not going vacuous with her expression to reflect attention back to her looks.

What do journalists say about her who have actually seen her close to?

I bet she is very attractive, just as some men have women falling over them, and other men can't understand why. What would some men say about Harry Styles...that X,y,z is wrong with his appearance...or Mick Jagger or Rod Stewart, but convince me that these guys are not more sexy than a breakfast show presenter like Dan Walker or Charlie Stayt ( who deliver when it's too early in the morning for sexual attraction).

The funniest thing about the male equivalent is that he thinks being a maths teacher is such another string to his bow that “women can’t believe it”. Nothing against maths teachers but why would being a teacher be such a catch? Ok it’s a steady job. But a bit dull and not brilliantly paid. It’s not like he’s boasting about being a highly paid banker or some sort of really interesting, unique type job.

No. They’re not jealous of her looks.
I specifically said she’s not classically beautiful.
But she’s made the best of herself,
They’re slightly envious, imo, of her drive. Her confidence. Her determination.
I often wish I’d done more exercise, concentrated on my skincare.
Samantha Brick reminds me that a bit of dedication to self care reaps rewards.

She definitely does look better now than she did 10 years ago.

There is nothing wrong with being confident and thinking you’re great. Nothing.

What is wrong, is thinking the reason (only reason) other people (women, not men) hate you, is because you’re ‘too beautiful’.

If women do seem to hate - or, far more likely - simply dislike you, it may be for many reasons, the least of which might be your looks (hint: the reason most people are disliked is for their personality).

She’s a nice looking woman. But most of my friends are more beautiful than her. And God knows I do not hate them. I love them.

A little bit of self-reflection might be in order for Samantha.

I'm actually in an FB group with Sam (for anglophone women in SW France) and any posts she makes are funny and TIC. I wouldn't take this article any way seriously.

Surely her articles are just a way to make money? Some women work in shops or offices or perform open heart surgery she just writes outrageous articles for the DM.
I'm sure she just sat and thought what can I write to get everyone frothing and clicking on the DM links and get my name out there.

I could write a thread saying all you women with young children should be staying at home looking after them. Doesn't mean I believe it but it would certainly get a lot of replies.

No problem with being attractive and very confident about it, it's the claim that women hate her for it.

She looks better with dark hair I think, but she looks like a well groomed woman in her 50s. There’s nothing wrong with that, but she’s not beautiful or even particularly attractive. She may have a sparkling personality which shines through I suppose.

I love her. I’ve had a bit to do with her as I volunteered for one of her columns (total bullshit but huge fun, and the DM photoshoot with the wrap dress and nude heels are a hoot).

She’s dead right with what she’s saying, it’s seen as misplaced vanity as a woman of a certain age to have confidence in your looks, and the response to her article said it all.

Most people never read past the headline.

She got the shit ripped out of her for claiming that a pilot Sen he champagne and that men fell over themselves to pay bills for her. She was talking total bollocks

She has given several contextualised imperically- unimpeachable examples of men finding her beautiful, telling her such, and giving her favours. Men offering to park her car for her; buying her things. She obviously is very attractive, then.
