Random things that were big in the '90s.

I'm trying to make up a quiz for a friend's birthday based on things that were popular in the '90s, plus I was just having fun reminiscing with another friend. So I wondered, what random and lesser known things do you remember being popular back then?

Riverdance is one I remember. That was so huge back then and I was obsessed with it and Michael Flatley. I remember watching Eurovision live when they had Michael Flatley and Jean Butler perform and being blown away by it.

Do you remember the velvet headbands that had your name written on in sort of 3d paint?

I do! Yes, personalised things were huge.

I only ever had one personalised item though. I had a very common name and only ever found an empty box when looking for my name. The strange thing was though that I never actually encountered another person my age with the same name, until high school and even there I only met one.

Best friend" jewellery. Usually necklaces. Usually a broken heart with best on one and friend on the other, you wore worn and guess you one the other?!

I loved those.

I cannot begin to tell you how happy this thread is making me grin it's like a big warm fuzzy feeling

I'm glad to hear that it's making you as happy as it's making me.

TOTP 1992 is on BBC4 at 8.00. Could get some "fashion" tips lol

Ty for letting me know. I definitely need to watch that.

@StanleyTheCrane I never got one as a child and to this day I'm gutted. I saw one in a charity shop not so long ago and nearly bought it until I realised I probably couldn't get the chocolates for it any more.

They made them up until fairly recently but it seems that they have stopped producing them. Sad I'm sorry that you'll never get to experience the joy of a Cadbury's dairy milk machine. Flowers

I loved these! Proper Polly Pockets and what were those plastic dogs and cats you could collect? No bigger than your thumb and weren't movable but were always frozen in the act of doing something. I remember getting some that were heat sensitive so you could warm them up and the wound on their paw would disappear!
