And I want every woman of faith (any faith) or no faith to do the same if that fucker wins Angry

(Marine le Bastard is saying women are not allowed to wear head scarves in France and that they will be fined)

@Gwenhwyfar

"someone from the Ivory Coast who might have moved to France when they were 3 could never be allowed to vote. "

Surely they can when they get citizenship?

Exactly.

I moved to France when I was 31 (5 years ago) and I'll be able to vote in the next elections.

@EnidSpyton

I don't have a problem with this.

Any religion that only requires women (and not men - because it's never men's bodies that are shameful and disgusting, is it?) to cover parts of their bodies in order to be acceptable to their God is misogynistic.

Should we be supporting misogyny in 2022?

Marine Le Pen is racist and fascist, so that's a different issue entirely. And she won't get in.

But the reality is - religions that force women to cover themselves and view their bodies as objects of shame are oppressive and misogynistic and should be challenged about their treatment of women with the full force of the law. Religions are all man (and I mean man) -made nonsense and our kowtowing to them in the name of liberalism while they oppress and abuse women is disgusting.

I completely agree with this.

The UK tends not to ban things which is the better way really. However France has very specific separations of church and state and a different culture. I don't however agree with a comment earlier on the thread that if you ban women using head scarves to ban Islam in France. Loads of UK muslim women don't cover their head. There is a strong argument the Koran does not require it surely?

The bottom line is a lot of islam is pretty dreadful for women and thankfully in the UK and France we are allowed to say that - that you need 2 women to give evidence to have the same weight as one man, that men can have 4 wives, but women only 1 husband, etc etc etc

If I ruled the world, the first thing I'd prohibit is religion. Any religion.

Religion brings comfort, joy and structure to more people’s lives that it has a negative impact

I would rather ban weapons

Really? Because oppressive religious based laws have impacted billions of people throughout history.

Macron isn't exactly live and let live with regards to Islam either and has come out with some comments that would have filled multiple threads and column inches if it was made by a UK politician.

She won't get in as Macron will squeak it in the second round, but it won't be a win for some left wing utopia that MN predicted last time

Me too.

Sorry that was in response to this:
