DS needed a lift to the station, (doesn't happen often) so DH did it, he was back by six, he came up with two tiny drops of white wine and some cracking manchego, we have turned the leccy blanket right up and stuck on Classic FM and are drifting off for a nice long snooze.

That’s not my scene but you sound really happy and I’m glad you enjoying yourself!

sandgrown · 07/04/2022 07:15

Was that 6am? Good on you . Do whatever you want in retirement. You have earned it !

FlipFlops4Me · 07/04/2022 07:17

I retire after 50 years of work at the end of June. I cannot tell you how pleased I am.

My DS and dil are delighted for me and I am looking forward to chilling instead of panicking to meet impossible deadlines. I loved my work for years but I know it's time to stop because I don't love it any more. Not at all.

Oh, I can't joint Gransnet cos DS is my only DC and he and DIL haven't felt in a position to have a child yet. So I'm still a mum but not a gran

Rinatinabina · 07/04/2022 07:18

Sounds lovely to me!

Sounds a lovely way to start your day!

LondonQueen · 07/04/2022 07:19

I still have about 45 years leftBlush

PoshWatchShitShoes · 07/04/2022 07:20

Wine and cheese for breakfast? I really can't imagine it, but enjoy your snooze.

I'm rushing in circles to get to the station in time to catch a train to London. How did I do this 5 times a week in the olden days??! 😂

GlitterSquid · 07/04/2022 07:21

I'm 40, about to start my first day at a new job and would trade it all for what you've just described.

Thank you, yes it was.

We are at the moment just delighting in the ridiculousness of not having to be grown up, the DC is off to work, may need a lift later hey ho, the dog walker will be here soon and we are going back to sleep having been wage slaves for years. It seems anarachic. Grin

Not a daily occurrence, just a moment of nonsense.

Haha is that 6 o clock this morning? Really couldn’t fancy the wine and cheese for breakfast but being retired with no agenda does sound lovely. Enjoy!

NiceTwin · 07/04/2022 07:23

6am in the morning Shock?
I am not a drinker but if I was, I can't imagine starting that early!

Love an afternoon nap though, so I envy you that part.

balalake · 07/04/2022 07:25

I think you should start walking the dog, showing love to her or him.

Whooshaagh · 07/04/2022 07:27

@ThreeWiseWomen
Enjoy OP.
I’m off to dd’s to help with new dgc so retirement temporarily suspended!
Still in bed though atm as not leaving until midday and dh brought me a cup of tea.

ThreeWiseWomen · 07/04/2022 07:29

Just for clarification the wine may as well have been sherry the glass was that small, it was just the sheer utterly silliness of it that appealed to me.

However bed is warm, music gentle and today life feels good.

DH already snoozing.....

Thank you to those who get it.

And remove someone else's much needed revenue stream, don't think so.....

LovelyYellowLabrador · 07/04/2022 07:34

Wouldn’t fancy cheese or wine at 7am but I get the point your making that time no has no meaning as you’re now a free person
That’s like been released from slavery ! So enjoy your retirement op and do whatever the hell you like 🥂🥂here’s to you

2DogsOnMySofa · 07/04/2022 07:34

OP - sounds amazing!! I'm doing everything I can to retire a few years early, if it all goes to plan, I'll be you in 8 years time GrinSmile

gogohm · 07/04/2022 07:36

Enjoy but yes do walk the dog yourself, routine is really good once you retire and getting out daily with the dog has proven mental health benefits. Dog walkers are in hot demand, they'll get a replacement client.
