Is there a news blackout on fuel shortages?

Just doesn't seem to be reported anywhere. There is no diesel in my small town and supply problems for the last week. This is the same in the large town I work in. My colleague drove round all the fuel stations within a five mile radius and could not locate any.

I don't seem to see this reported anywhere or is it just my town?

Very little where we are in Suffolk yesterday.

There's the premium diesel at a village garage we drive past each day, at £2 per litreShock.
The ordinary diesel there (which they don't have) was 15p a litre dearer than the supermarkets (who also have none)🤷. A work colleague was saying it was a blockade at a refinery.

Yes, we're in the Cotswolds and have noticed shortages of diesel at most stations and petrol is being rationed only £30 limit. Which barely fills up half the tank at these current prices!

The police need to sort these blockades out. I thought they had more powers now to arrest people doing this sort of thing. I don’t understand why the protestors aren’t been dragged into police vans. Even if they’re locking themselves to stuff the locks can be broken?

Because they've superglued themselves to the road. Not their clothes, themselves.

It takes quite a while to get people off without damage.

No diesel at any of the petrol stations here or even the next county. We are at the point where what we have left has to be for an emergency only. Hope it gets sorted before the end of the school holidays (only another week for us). We live rurally so there aren’t public transport alternatives.

Lots of them by me too have none. DH on the road for work so needs it. Managed to get 30 00 yesterday at a supermarket thank god but our plans of going out for the day on hold as don't want to waste it. Government need to get army in or something to get it delivered.

Patchbatch · 09/04/2022 08:27

I've seen it in the news, it's just baffling why people can get away with it without being moved on, how spineless are we.

It's people blocking the depots in protest unless you mean get the army in to move them on which I agree with.

We've had some queues here at the cheaper places like supermarkets...

crossstitchingnana · 09/04/2022 08:45

It's fine here now but where I live we have had problems, off and on, since last summer with supply.

No, there isn’t a news blackout.
Belledan1 · 09/04/2022 08:50

Yes Patchbatch thats what I meant. Sorry was not clear.

ButterSageSpaghetti · 09/04/2022 08:54

I've been saying this too! There is NO diesel in this county or even the next, apart from sporadic deliveries which result in massive queues and it selling out really quickly.

I suspect because the media CAUSED the shortages last time through panic buying, there is a media blackout. But this is different, there ARE shortages and the media doesn't contain a peep about it. Very weird.

SniffMyQuiffyHair · 09/04/2022 09:02

Definitely shortages here, not that anyone can go anywhere as the lorries trying to get to the port have been blocking the roads
They need to report more about those poor stranded drivers too

soupey1 · 09/04/2022 09:07

East Midlands here, many places have run out of diesel and limited pumps with unleaded.

Quail15 · 09/04/2022 09:21

No shortage here (Kent/Surrey/Sussex border) only issue is the local petrol station has just closed for a referb so I have to drive a bit further to fill up my diesel car.
