Is there a news blackout on fuel shortages?

Just doesn't seem to be reported anywhere. There is no diesel in my small town and supply problems for the last week. This is the same in the large town I work in. My colleague drove round all the fuel stations within a five mile radius and could not locate any.

I don't seem to see this reported anywhere or is it just my town?

@RedWingBoots

It's the XR idiots.

All the supermarket petrol stations, which are about 4-10p per litre depending on the fuel you use, had no fuel at the weekend around me. It coincided with the XR lot blocking the nearest oil refineries.

This. It’s reported in the i newspaper today. Mostly in the south.

I did notice that the garage up the road had its forecourt blocked off yesterday. Hope the one in town is ok as I’ll need to fill up before the end of the week or the dcs won’t finish this week at school.

MsAdoraBelleDearheartVonLipwig · 05/04/2022 16:37

North east Suffolk.

FlickyCrumble · 05/04/2022 16:41

Large supermarket SE had run out of unleaded on Sunday and they were manic with employees guiding cars. Not as bad as during shortage but I was glad my tank was full - we were just using car wash.

Past a different station which was more expensive and smaller but top brand and they weren’t busy at all.

Notanotherwindow · 05/04/2022 18:57

SE here and 5 out of the 6 local stations are fine. Only one short is Tesco.

Makinglemonadefromlemons · 05/04/2022 19:07

No fuel in our area either

Kitkat151 · 05/04/2022 19:12

No issues where I am ( NW England)

TheTempest · 05/04/2022 19:16

It’s fairly short of fuel here (Eastbourne), my car is diesel and thankfully I’m ok and DH’s car is electric. It’s all over our FB pages in the area, and lots of friends have mentioned it. I figured it was Russia related to be honest.

cptartapp · 05/04/2022 19:17

Just filled up. NW

Sunflower987 · 05/04/2022 19:18

There are shortages where I live, but people are also panic buying.
I am glad the media aren't reporting it, I think it makes it worse.

SunflowerSmith · 05/04/2022 19:20

I'm in Staffordshire and none of the local ones have unleaded or diesel, luckily I have half a tank so am hoping it's over by the time I need some

Grumpysister · 05/04/2022 19:23

Definitely a diesel problem here (north Oxfordshire) - unleaded seems fine. Of course I drive a diesel! Hmm

Trulyweird1 · 05/04/2022 19:25

I am in Aberdeenshire and had to go in to Aberdeen today - Sainsburys fuel station was closed and Asda had only 2 pumps open.

I got in but by the time I was done the queue was crazy. DH tells me Tesco was the same - out of 8 pumps only 2 open and no diesel.

nocoolnamesleft · 05/04/2022 19:26

Filled up no problem (apart from the price - ouch) this evening.

Theunamedcat · 05/04/2022 19:26

Ours is fine however it popped up on Facebook the other day petrol 12 months ago was £1.06 per litre

I miss the pandemic

Calandor · 05/04/2022 19:46

No there's not. Literally Google petrol shortages and they're all there. The media isn't a conspiracy and they're not doing a 'blackout' 😂

Is there a news blackout on fuel shortages?
Chloemol · 05/04/2022 20:22

It is NOT a fuel shortage

The twats who protested at the weekend have caused supply chain issues which I am sure will be quickly resolved

There is PLENTY of fuel, just not in the right place at the moment

So no need for headlines to scare everyone as THERE IS NO FUEL SHORTAGE

PinkSparklyPussyCat · 05/04/2022 20:44

@dottydodah

I assume from the blockades due to the "I know what .lets stick our heads to the road brigade!" I got some a few days ago ,and noticed some pumps were locked up .
Why not just move the twats on? If they glue themselves to something tough, I'm sure the skin will regrow.
LynetteScavo · 07/04/2022 22:29

DH had to go to 6 petrol stations before he found one with fuel today. When he did find one with fuel it was capped at £30 worth. I had a petrol can ready to go and rescue him. There may not be a fuel shortage but it certainly wasn't where DH was today. I was able to fill up OK (apart from the bloody price)

GroggyLegs · 07/04/2022 22:36

I'd heard nothing about it, then nearly had kittens yesterday when 3 petrol stations in Birmingham had no fuel. Detoured twice, and I was down to 10 miles left by the time I found a Sainsburys with massive queues & rowing customers. Diesel in 3 of the 12 pumps.

Had I known, I'd have not left it quite so late, but I do agree it helps prevent panic buying.

gogohm · 07/04/2022 22:38

There isn't a shortage here but diesel is rather pricey

mum2jakie · 07/04/2022 22:41

Midlands and our closest petrol station was out of diesel today too

Neverreturntoathread · 07/04/2022 22:48

It’s not just your town, I was driving round the M25 yesterday and at least one overhead motorway sign said ‘next services: no diesel’

SquirmOfEels · 07/04/2022 22:48

I've not spotted any shortages here (London, the several petrol stations I pass near here all seem to be open as usual no queues)

What I have spotted are lots of Extinction Rebellion posters calling for anti-fossil fuel protests in April particularly between 9th and 17th, including more blockades

So although there is no shortage, supply might get iffy

Chakraleaf · 07/04/2022 22:59

There's nothing here at all :(
