Dh can go and live in the shed with his beloved dyson

I’m sick to death of the bloody thing.

It doesn’t work. Half way though something clogs. The whole thing has to be taken apart. I’m sick to death of giving it a hair cut once a week (Dyson owners will know what I mean).

The charge never lasts that long. The bloody head has to be changed for the hard floor and that head is next to useless, anything other than a large speck of dust makes it stop working.

When he bought the bloody thing, he said he would do all the vacuuming. But a hairy cat and three children including a toddler who is incapable of keeping anything on a plate means that I do end up using it when he’s working.

His Grandmother has had to move in to a care home and MIL has asked if we want the Shark that they bought her last year. I’ve bitten hand off (do you like the shark reference).

Dh is sulking saying he wants to keep his dyson. He loves it. It’s the bestest vacuum cleaner ever.

It doesn’t sound like he loves the bastard thing when he’s on the kitchen swearing at it halfway though cleaning the house trying to find out why it’s stopped working for the 6th time, but what do I know.

I’m having the shark and he can either like it or run off into the sunset with his beloved dyson and i’ll read about how “I married my vacuum cleaner” in Take a Break.

Your OP made me laugh but I think it actually needs to be you in Take a Break - my husband married a vacuum cleaner. That way you get paid. Practise your sad face now!!

I'm waiting for the ultimate outcome of this thread. Dyson Vs shark.

I have house bunnies. The downy fluff is inextricable from the carpet with my current Henry and have been looking to upgrade but can find any honest trustworthy reviews.

RedRobin100 · 03/04/2022 11:06

Agree. My OH also loves his Dyson. I hate it.

I will always be loyal to Henry.

For the poster who wants to know what you Hoover up that murders Dysons…
The kid being stalked by the giant, hairy vulture for sausages is sitting on her own blonde locks. Her younger sister would make Ariel (Little Mermaid) weep with envy. The vulture is currently shedding her summer coat and the next big “blow out” will be worse.

I HATE MY SHARK!!!!
I begged for it as our dyson was so annoying - rubbish suction, bloody heavy. Dh was reluctant as dyson was spenny but after five long years of dyson hell I convinced him we needed a shark. It's awful, yes the lights are cool, it's quite light and it does bend. But the suction is only decent on the hand held it's terrible on the pipe. And it stores bits in the roller then spits them out randomly. It doesn't work on carpet (yes I change the mode) only on wood. When I turn it off it drops a load of dust on the floor. It needs emptying constantly. I bought it 18m ago within 7m it had broke and they sent a full replacement as it was in warranty. 8m later it broke again, again they have replaced it. I can't fault customer service they are great. But basically I've had 3 sharks n 18m and they have all been rubbish!

Fraaahnces · 03/04/2022 11:08

Sorry about the random countryside photo! Must have bumped it!

Shopaholic100 · 03/04/2022 11:09

I absolutely hated my Shark and have returned it. It looked nice but clogged up at the slightest sign of crumbs or just pushed them round the room. I’ve just bought a Dyson again and you can actually see a visible difference in the carpet. It looks clean and fluffy again. I would never buy a Shark again, I spent more time dismantling it. First Dyson lasted over 10 years, the second over 15 years and is still working but is noisy.

BearPear · 03/04/2022 11:10

My original Dyson was fabulous, it survived having builders in and coped with grit, muck, plaster dust etc with ease. I got it serviced intermittently and passed it on to my daughter when she moved out and she managed to kill it. My replacement Dyson is poor in comparison.
We have a cordless as well that gets whipped out most days and it’s adequate for a whiz round but that’s all.

SoupDragon · 03/04/2022 11:11

I wonder why people have completely opposite experiences of Shark and Dyson.

I think it proves that you can't actually trust any online reviews to be of any help!

Oh, there won't be an ultimate outcome. The subject appears regularly and there never is!

Shopaholic100 · 03/04/2022 11:12

@autienotnaughty, I agree with everything you’ve said this was my experience too. I have to admit I miss the lights too.

HumourReplacementTherapy · 03/04/2022 11:13

If it's pulsing it's the filter that needs either changing or washing rather than a blockage
(Cordless)
I like mine for carpet but it's not great on dry cat foot or the cat litter over spill on hard floors. It just flings it about.
Replacement parts are ridiculously expensive too.
I'll not buy another.

SamphiretheStickerist · 03/04/2022 11:14

I'm on my second Dyson. First one was corded and lasted almost 20 years. This one is cordless, 7 years and counting, most if them with a dog. It's great.

We also have a Henry. We are doing some renovations and it picks up the lighter rubble and dust no problem.

Atomiccat · 03/04/2022 11:24

Mine doesn't clog. We have a dog and a cat. Dh vacuums every day. Battery lasts a long time and it’s light compared to others, we’ve tried a few. Can highly recommend it. Also love the Dyson hair dryer and fan!

MrOllivander · 03/04/2022 11:29

Must be a man thing. Dad saw me kicking the Henry (it fell over one too many times), adopted it and now talks to it lovingly as it's the best vacuum ever Hmm

I bought a shark. Not one regret

mynameiscalypso · 03/04/2022 11:30

@CertainUncertain Exactly! You can sit immediately in front of it when it's on the top setting and get nothing more than a gentle breeze!

How did you return it? they have refused to take mine back!!
Vapeyvapevape · 03/04/2022 11:30

Mine doesn't clog but we do have to give it a hair cut regularly (dd has waist length hair).
I bought a replacement battery for it (not dyson) and the charge lasts for much longer .

BoredZelda · 03/04/2022 11:39

Hated the Dyson with a passion. The one we bought was so difficult to use with the suction head thing, we ended up cutting off the suction bits. I spoke with Dyson who didn’t seem to think there was a problem that we had spent 300 quid on a vacuum cleaner we couldn’t physically use.

Went back to the Miele. Also have robot vacuums to keep on top of the day to day stuff.

Thesefeetaremadeforwalking · 03/04/2022 11:58

@WaterBottle123

James Dyson is a Brexity cockwomble and his shitty vacuums deserve all the boycotts

That's he funniest thing I've read all day !!

I think that Shark have s very good online presence and use this to promote its brand in online forums. I don’t believe half the posts loving the brand are form genuine people.

I’ve had a Shark. It was ok.

I have a cordless Dyson (wooden floors). It’s ok.

Sebo was the only ive ever had that I’d rate (but on carpets).

@SoupDragon you're clearly in the real 50ish% 🤷‍♀️😁

Inarightpickleandpreserve · 03/04/2022 12:31

I’ve nothing to add regarding vacuum cleaner but ‘brexity cockwomble’ has made my day Grin
