Who would you really vote for ? A party wishy washy on self ID and other trans issues with a gobby brash deputy leader who puts her foot in it and a lacking in charisma but well meaning leader or a party that implemented austerity, savage cuts to all public services, oversaw the deaths of 150,000, deceitful, pork barrel politics, corrupt, but with a teflon coated populist leader, plummy voiced slick mps and a less wishy washy stance on self ID (although not necessarily to be trusted)
What is most important to women earning £30,000 who are going to be hugely affected by the spiralling cost of living, struggling to heat their homes, feed their kids ? Issues very much the result of conservative policies like brexit, austerity etc or trans issues ?
I'm not pro self ID but not cat in hells chance I'd ever vote tory either. Their past record is not erased just because they say they know what a woman is. I'm addressing this to average earners too as they are on the front line.

@PierresPotato

Labour. The most pressing issue is imo economic unfairness.
I’m inclined to agree but it would feel like I was letting my daughter down. That said keeping the Tories in would be letting down all the people who are freezing and going to bed hungry so their kids get a bit of dinner. How the fuck did we come to this Sad
Kreuzberg · 02/04/2022 22:59

@FOJN you think red wall areas voted for the tories because they liked them ? Brexit was the reason.
Who cares whether you vote for the tories ? Red wall areas have been insulted by tory governments for generations. Actions rather than words.

Who cares whether you vote for the tories

You apparently

The whole thread is asking what people are going to vote for

Interested in this thread?

Then you might like threads about this subject:

Kreuzberg · 02/04/2022 23:05

@MarshaBradyo can't we start threads critical of the dear bloody leader ? Why would you be suspicious of my reasons when there's been at least 2 threads like this over the last 2 weeks. Did you question the OPs on those threads which were largely anti labour/pro tory ? Funnily enough this thread has been more supportive of the opposition which must have thrown you a bit Hmm

Gingerkittykat · 02/04/2022 23:06

I'm against self ID but will be voting SNP and if I lived in England I would be voting Labour.

The most important issue for me is Scottish Independence and then social and economic issues.

I have a friend who requires daily carers for complex medical needs. I have seen her care go from good to downright dangerous in the past 18 months to the point where she has had to go into a nursing home temporarily until they can find a care agency who will actually provide the care she needs.

I also care about the millions who are going to be plunged into poverty over the next few months. The tories have proven time and time again they don't care about the vulnerable.

LangClegsInSpace · 02/04/2022 23:06
@LangClegsInSpace do you live in the red wall ? I do. What won them them the last GE was brexit and forriners. Nowt to do with labour regarding them as being thick. Tories have done that for years already Confused
You just did it again - implied they were thick bigots!

'forriners' Hmm

Carry on, that worked so well last time.

With every post you make, your OP looks more disingenuous.

PrincessSpanky · 02/04/2022 23:12

@HappyPumpkin81

I'd vote tactically for the Conservatives as it is the only option in our area to get rid of the reigning SNP. There is not a single political party that actually offers me representation. Ideally what I would like is a hung parliament.
This. I will never vote SNP and will vote tactical.
Kreuzberg · 02/04/2022 23:12

@RufustheFloralmissingreindeer no I just got people complaining that they were being made to feel guilty about voting tory. Put on a guilt trip yaaawn as one poster put it just because some posters are able to regale us the appalling record of this government. The 'threats' to vote tory are a bit tragic really. Nobody really cares.

OP posts:
CharityShopChic · 02/04/2022 23:13

Whoever is best placed to give the SNP a kicking. My contempt and loathing of the nationalists overrides everything.

Not really. I was going to say there are more Labour posters on this thread. Maybe this is a true indication of how it will go. We’ll see.

I did think you started the thread as you wanted answers from both sides. Then thought you sound firmly in one camp. Up to you. It’s not up to me to change your vote if you’re already decided.

LangClegsInSpace · 02/04/2022 23:15

@urbanbuddha

^Vote for us you stupid, selfish, bigots is not a great campaign slogan. I really shouldn't need to explain that.*

Exactly.

Yup.
Nightlystroll · 02/04/2022 23:19

The 'threats' to vote tory are a bit tragic really. Nobody really cares.

Say what? You obviously care otherwise you wouldn't have started a thread about it. 😅

Kreuzberg · 02/04/2022 23:20

Nobody said they were thick bigots, your words in fact. I live in the red wall btw. Grew up here. Most did object to immigration. And yes the whole brexit deceit worked well. But most of them aren't laughing up here now. Levelling up ? Northern power house ? Ask them how the fishing industry is coping in grimsby ? Ask why most red wall tory mps are extremely worried about their survival in a forthcoming GE?

OP posts:
Kreuzberg · 02/04/2022 23:25

@MarshaBradyo come on. A bit naive for someone who's been here a while. I think it was pretty obvious I'm not a particular fan of this brand of tory. Few more joining the thread though.

OP posts:
hedwigismyowl · 02/04/2022 23:27

I'd still vote labour since I care about those who poor or disabled or less fortunate, and the tories that they don't care about them time and time again. I've seen the rich/ poor divide get much greater during austerity and it's not right.

Much more important than 'what is a woman' issue.

MarshaBradyo · 02/04/2022 23:32

I have no idea about your stance, in your op you mention a few reasons for disliking both. That’s what I was going on I have no idea about other posts elsewhere.

Anyway you seem angry for someone who started a thread asking people which why they will vote as if you were interested in reasons.

I’ll leave you to it as the op came across as something different and I’m not up for insults.

I prefer: Please don't vote for the corrupt, lying, self serving hypocrites that have fucked us all over. Repeatedly for the last 10+ yeaŕsFlowers

Again.🙏

Mocara · 03/04/2022 00:08

@LangClegsInSpace

This is why I've spoiled my ballot for the last few years.
How mature of you
Mocara · 03/04/2022 00:34

@ZaraSizeMedium

I may take inspiration from this thread and sticker my ballot paper.

I'm hoping that some "Respect my sex if you want my X" campaign stickers might be available to buy soon.

If not I'll use some Women=Adult Human Female and one of Posie's other stickers.

This is a joke right !
TooBigForMyBoots · 03/04/2022 00:41

No it's not a joke @Mocara.Hmm It's something that poster feels passionately about. I don't agree with her method but I get where she's coming from and it's not a joke.

MillieMoonbeam · 03/04/2022 01:06

Honestly? I don’t know. I’m politically homeless. I live in Wales so we are governed by Labour. Conservatives will never be in power here (Thank God!) I will never vote for Plaid Cymru with their stance on the rights of trans people, to the detriment of women.

There is nobody to vote for.

Lurkerlot · 03/04/2022 01:09

Labour

Gilead · 03/04/2022 01:19

@scorpio32
I think you’ll find that the Lehman brothers bank was at the centre of the financial crash. Much as Tories like to tarnish Brown, he really wasn’t able to control American fiscal policies. I think PFIs were a mistake, but I also think if you look properly, Thatcher started the downfall of the NHS. An institution for whom she had little respect because she couldn’t find a profit in it, other than running it down in order to sell it off and make said profit. She managed it with transport and utilities though and look where that’s got us. How can you be so proud of a party that does this?

AlexaShutUp · 03/04/2022 01:38

Labour.

I am very unhappy with their stance on the trans issue and I wish they would sort themselves out, but notwithstanding all that, it's an easy decision for me.

I see the impact of this Tory government on the most vulnerable people in our society through my work. It has been getting progressively worse for years, but the response to the cost of living crisis will make things a whole lot worse very quickly. I couldn't live with myself if I was responsible for putting them in power.
