Would you find this sufficient for lunch?

A small m&s side salad.

I saw someone have this and this alone for their lunch, and imply anything more is greedy.

I suspect competitive undereating*, but do you think this is tiny/normal/lots? I'd be bloody starving 5 minutes later 😂

*Unfortunately I've worked with a few of these in the past and just roll my eyes.

Would you find this sufficient for lunch?
OP posts:

@SanFranBear

Just to be pedantic, it's 150cal per 100g and its a whopping 176g, so is actually 264 calories... not that it would be enough for me either but is more substantial than quoted.

And agree, Coriander is devil's food Envy

Not according to the label in OP's picture.

Serves 1 - this pack provides 150kcal.
per 100g 85kcal.

Changechangychange · 28/03/2022 22:36

@VyeBrator

It wouldn't fill me up.

But did she really imply anything more is greedy? I find that hard to believe.

You clearly haven't been on the "substantial salad" threads then Wink
VyeBrator · 28/03/2022 22:50

No,no comments, she started with them, saying she's glad she's not a glutton that eats meal deals.

I'm calling bullshit.

You've been asked a few times how she 'implied' that anything more than that salad is greedy.

You skirted round the question and now apparently she said that ^^ Hmm

She may or may not have food issues but starting a thread on a public forum about another woman's lunch, suggests you may too.

EndaDay · 28/03/2022 23:05

@KateTheEighth

I hear you but I cannot call a banana a meal, although I suppose it could be had as pudding after that salad making it part of what would then become quite a substantial lunch.

Anorexic friend for 20 years. Skeletal limbs and dont know how she is still alive (i sound callous but i tried to get her to a doctor for years and given up) Competitive undereating and "healthy" eating. She will make it a point to keep talking about all the sweet treats she's having and she'll make a spectacle of it at social meals to show how she eats big carbs and sweet treats but stays skinny. Always comment on others' appearances or shame their eating habits. I'd just stay away. Literally mental nutjob.

TonytheDog · 29/03/2022 00:04

Would you have started the same thread if a colleague ate, what you perceived to be, a meal that was too calorific? And laughed about over eating? No, you wouldn't.

The OP is also shaming her colleague on a public website and took the time to Google and post a photo of the other woman's lunch, to invite criticism of it. The same OP has openly said on another thread "I am fat, and have been fat more than I've been thin".

I don't think the colleague is the only person with food issues here but as long as this thread has made her feel better in some way I suppose 🤷

Of course she wouldn't.

They must surely be eating other food throughout the day.

I like my food but never have a big lunch at work because I feel sluggish for the rest of the day.

I'll snack on apples when I need to but once I get home I stuff my face.

NdefH81 · 29/03/2022 05:33

Sure you are

NdefH81 · 29/03/2022 05:36

On another thread re “What have you eaten today”

It’s 3pm and you say
Nothing for breakfast and the

“A banana one full fat pot of Greek yoghurt and a few strips of chicken” for lunch

That’s all you’d eaten by 3pm!!

I suspect that there’s mor to your frustration with your colleague than you outline in your OP

readingismycardio · 29/03/2022 05:57

Sure! I'd love it. Just add 3 slices of pizza and we'll be fine Grin

IEatChocolateForBreakfast · 29/03/2022 06:30

What a ridiculously critical post. Confused

Who cares what someone else has for lunch. Why does it affect you so much you feel the need to start a post about it?

How do you know they didn't have something else with it? Perhaps out of sight walking back from the shop? Even if they didn't, maybe they're going out for dinner and having a lighter lunch? I do that quite often so that I can enjoy a starter and / or dessert along with a glass of wine or two with my dinner. Or maybe they forgot their lunch and they picked that up on the way into work?

Would you have been so critical if they had a can of pop and a bag of crisps instead? I've seen plenty of colleagues have just that from the canteen for lunch at their desk.

People's stomachs shrink and expand and get used to a certain amount of food. If the person is used to eating a particular way that could definitely fill them up. That salad is healthy. It would fill me up for lunch. I regularly have a bowl full of leaves with a sprinkle of cheese, olive oil, balsamic, a few slices of deli ham and some olives for my lunch and I find it very filling and satisfying.

SmugOldBag · 29/03/2022 07:03

Perfect for lunch.

With at least a quarter of a chicken too.

I wouldn't eat it though as it's got far too much sugar in it and I is on a diet innit.

YingMei · 29/03/2022 08:21

Depends if you know the details of what she is eaten in the morning, which I expect you don't. Maybe she had a large and late breakfast and this is a snack before she takes a later lunch? Maybe she's going out for dinner early?

Crimesean · 29/03/2022 08:41

Sounds like she has an eating disorder. It can make people speak and behave in ways that aren't very nice - anorexia in particular is known for making sufferers manipulative and unkind in relation to food.

Brush it off - as you can see from this thread, it's not usual to only eat a 150 kcal salad for lunch, and most people would need something else.

Birdfooddirect · 29/03/2022 10:30

Are you competitive under eating OP?

NdefH81 · 29/03/2022 10:30

This

Clearly more to this

LottyD32 · 29/03/2022 12:12

No, I was doing planned fasting to get my blood sugar under control. For set amounts of time. It's entirely different to eating miniscule portions as standard.

And I know what she eats at other times and its consistentl, small amounts like I've posted about here. Think along the lines of a hotel sized cereal for breakfast, a titchy salad for lunch and a toasted ham sandwich thin for dinner.

OP posts:
NdefH81 · 29/03/2022 12:20

This is all starting to sound a bit odd

And I’m not referring to this women’s choice of breakfast, lunch and dinner

You spend an unhealthy amount of time thinking about what this woman chooses to eat and when she eats it. Think about this thread and why you might've decided to actually put a photo of this woman's food on a public forum to invite comments.

I would be STUFFED after that

Apple is so high in sugar, and there's a high cal dressing so would keep me going til breakfast the next day

Really can't understand how some people eat so much

And there we are!! Competitive undereating at it's finest!

This is fair enough but I'm curious how much you weigh and your height. I'm 4 9 and weigh 10 - 11 stone (I try to keep weight up), and this would be inhaled by me and I'd need something else straight away.
