It's Sunday. I'm bored! Do you have any celebrity friends as in close enough to have them on Watsapp etc. Come on give us a clue, maybe some MNers will even be brave enough to tell us names!

I’m good friends with Davina McCall. I’m not part of the celeb world and I can confirm that when the cameras are off she is genuinely lovely; very honest, very friendly, very keen to do the right thing, almost too worried about pleasing others in the nicest possible way! She’s had it pretty tough over the years but she’s a real gem even in the face of difficulty.

Thunderpunt · 27/03/2022 18:59

@My3cents1

I’m hoping someone will say Nick Kershaw, Peter Cox from Go West, Paul Young, Mike Nolan from Buck’s Fizz ( I so miss the 80s) and Milo Ventimiglia….anyone?
I wouldn't say Paul Young is a friend but he's eaten in my restaurant a few times - as has the sax player/founding member of Madness Lee Thomson
DiscoBadgers · 27/03/2022 18:59

I used to be neighbours with Katherine Ryan. She’s really, really nice!

TroysMammy · 27/03/2022 19:00

@iknowstuff does Ron Pearlman like cats like his character Hellboy?

jessieminto · 27/03/2022 19:00

I know an athlete who has an MBE. Proper knob.

sweepeep · 27/03/2022 19:00

@PollyPutTheKettleOnKettleOn yep I'm still not seeing how it could be the queen...🤣🙈

musicalfrog · 27/03/2022 19:00

ShirleyBadass · 27/03/2022 19:02

I saw the Ferne Cotton chicken thing too 😂😂

1forAll74 · 27/03/2022 19:05

I dont know any so called celebrities thankfully,, I dont even like the overused word celebrity.. its usually meaningless, when people of no note, have done nothing special in life..

SuperSocks · 27/03/2022 19:05

Not 'friends' but have nannied for quite a few high profile families (actors/royalty/professional sports players etc) so have their contact details on my phone. If I hear that one's had another baby or is ill with Covid or whatever my finger hovers over them on Whatsapp but I never do message them, it wouldn't be professional I don't think.

I knew L S Lowry...he was good friends with my grandma and I met him lots of times as a child. Obviously at the time I didn't know how famous he was...I always thought he was kind of sad 😞

ForeverLooking · 27/03/2022 19:24

A 2000s boyband member
An 80s singer who was in a band -still performs (male) had quite a few no 1 hits
A couple of top glamour models from the 90s
An apprentice winner
Quite a few horse related sports celebrities who would be famous in the horse world but not necessarily known by anyone else
A few socialites/minor royals/It girls (also got to know through horses)
Ex prime minister and family
I live in an area very popular for famous people to buy houses in so end up meeting a lot of people that way.

LubaLuca · 27/03/2022 19:25

I'm related to a popular BBC presenter, and have met famous people through them. None of them are friends though, but I'm on small talk terms with those who went to the wedding, Christenings etc 😄

That's interesting! What kind of person was he?

Horaceandgus · 27/03/2022 19:31

My auntie used to live next door to bill Maynard from heartbeat and round the corner from liz McDonald from Corrie

She says they are both lovely and good neighbours

harrystylestaylorswift · 27/03/2022 19:33

@Ratatoo

I know Ferne Cotton, she's a bit bonkers but really kind and lovely. She's a Mumsnetter too.
Saw a tiktok yesterday that she spat chewed up chicken in a waiter's hand at an event Shock
BingBangB0ng · 27/03/2022 19:36

Yes.

Orangesandlemons82 · 27/03/2022 19:41

My husband worked for Ron Brand, Russell Brand's dad. He was a complete dick and my husband couldn't wait to leave.

myfanwybygaslight · 27/03/2022 19:46

My dad knew David Hockney's older brother, and by association, vaguely, David Hockney, who was quite the eccentric in 1950s Bradford, walking to the art college in a linen suit, his hair bleached blonde, with his paint brushes in a sort of leather quiver around his neck.
Thirty years later I was on a delayed plane back from Paris with David Hockney, and he asked to borrow my newspaper. I was very starstruck as I'd just been to an exhibition of his in London.

Scienceseeker · 27/03/2022 19:54

My next door Neighbours are social media influencers! We are friendly and chat regularly if we see eachother etc. I know of her struggles with mental health etc. I find it fascinating to watch the videos that they publish on their social media platforms and see how sunny and lovely everything seems, when in reality I know that isn’t the case. I know they don’t have to share that side of their lives, I just find it interesting to see the reality vs what they post. (They don’t know I watch their videos! E.g. I waited for her to tell me she was pregnant, even though I’d already seen it on social media the week before!) Blush

HollowTalk · 27/03/2022 19:55

@SnowyPetals

I once met David Mitchell at the airport. We were on the same flight. He was very nice and witty as well.
But she's asking whether people know someone well enough to have them on WhatsApp, not just bump into them in the street.
XmeansX · 27/03/2022 20:02

I’m good friends with an actor, we have swapped phone numbers and keep in touch regularly

DrBunsen · 27/03/2022 20:13

I was on a skiing holiday with Nick Kershaw and his family a few years ago (small family company so the guests skied together)
