@Sewfrickinamazeballs

What was he like as a teacher?

SenoraMiasma · 01/04/2022 22:09

Sazzasez

@Spidey66

They definitely preyed on boys who were on scholarships & therefore more vulnerable to pressure, and even those whose parents worked at the school.

There’s got to be a very special place in hell for those who do that

PollyPutTheKettleOnKettleOn · 01/04/2022 23:53

They're called Tom & Laura I think?

@Sewfrickinamazeballs did you recognise any of the children's characters in Man Down? I heard Greg Davies say they he used his teaching days for inspiration when writing it.

Someone who is infamous for selling his bodily fluids to desperate women. Was in a relationship with him. Psychopath, smashed my TV, broke my phone, restrained me regularly and made me think I was insane.

swingmybing · 05/04/2022 12:42

I knew of a C-list celebrity in the late 90s. He was an actor and slept with a teenage friend. He was in his 20s.

bunnywarren · 05/04/2022 18:42

I'm friends with Angie Bowie.
My best friend's brother (who was also my boyfriend) worked with David back in the day, and we met her a few times, with and without David.
She was lovely. Daft as a brush, but lovely. Very kind to us, very funny and generous even though we were a few years younger than her we thought she was so elegant and glamorous compared to us.

Both my bestie and l are still in touch with her, 40+ years later.
She's still the same, very direct and you hear her before you see her but she's a very loyal friend. She adored my bestie's mum, and she was genuinely devastated when she died.
She sent me a beautiful bouquet last year when l had a bereavement, and called to see if l was okay. My friend and l are in fairly regular contact with her.

For people I’ve just met - Shane Warne - really friendly guy in person, not arrogant at all and let our family take pictures with him and have a chat…. It was on a holiday in Verona.

Shah rukh Khan, at a meet and greet. This guy is like bigger than the Tom Cruise or Leonardo di caprio of Bollywood, met him when I was 9 years old and I remember we snuck through security, my mum had always loved him growing up and wanted to take the chance. He laughed about it and kissed her on the cheek and talked to me, I think he complimented my name. Very chilled out.

People I know better - Paddy Bever was in my class, the guy who plays Max in Coronation street, the funniest kid I knew back in high school, kind of guy everyone was mates with and wanted to be around him, glad his acting dreams turned out.

And John Thompson from Cold Feet, daughter was in my class too. It’s ironic, he is a comedian but his daughter was funnier than him haha, she was great and fun to be around, must be a family trait! He also was really nice and talked to my parents at parents evenings, cracked jokes….very easy to get along with

I knew Julian Clary, from our days at Sacred Heart, before he live in St Marks Road, he lived in Blandford Rd, Teddington, we were friends often round his to play, ride our bikes, age of innocence

@Agadoodoododont

Ben E. King insisted on giving my exh his autograph for me. ( he was a backing musician) I was a sleep deprived new mum so didn’t really appreciate it. Taught Felicity Montague’s son. She’s lovely and her son was a sweetie. Taught 2 children now in royal family. Nice children, shame about the parent. Oh and the son of a then famous show jumper whose mum brought him to school with concussion. When your kid knocks themself out on the driveway at home, don’t put them in the back of the Jag and drop them off at school…. please. One vomiting, drowsy child blue lighted to hospital.
Beatrice and Eugenie?

Now in RF suggested they are step children. Intriguing.

AnastasiaRomanov · 09/04/2025 17:29

I knew Ian Rankin well once.

DilemmaDelilah · 09/04/2025 19:17

Matthew Pincent is a very distant relative, but I've never met him and I very much doubt that he is even aware of our branch of the family.

One of my sister's best friends is a television newsreader.

That's the limit of any famous people knowing in my family!

Have you read his autography? He talks about the priest with the watery eye at sacred heart. I can't remember his name but my husband knew who he meant. He used to go there every Sunday and grew up in Bushy park road. In-laws are still there. My mother in law used to do stuff for the church and knocked on Julian's door when he lived nearby. He was lovely by all accounts.

@LetsGoCrazyPurpleBanana

Sazzasez was the school with Julian Clary in Teddington? My in-laws live there near his old house opposite the Sacred heart school.
It was in Ealing. Quite prestigious independent Catholic boys school but mixed now. Unfortunately like a lot of Catholic institutions there were a few bad apples and there was a history of physical and sexual abuse which was happening for decades and only came out about 10 years ago.

Gunnersbury?
