It's Sunday. I'm bored! Do you have any celebrity friends as in close enough to have them on Watsapp etc. Come on give us a clue, maybe some MNers will even be brave enough to tell us names!

OP posts:
DancingChairs · 27/03/2022 17:46

@TheArtfulBlogger she gets talked about on MN every once in a while and watches for threads she's mentioned on! I'd rather not be inundated with messages from her flying monkeys.

SnowyPetals · 27/03/2022 17:47

I once met David Mitchell at the airport. We were on the same flight. He was very nice and witty as well.

JaneJeffer · 27/03/2022 17:47

@SheilaTheGr3at

Yes, I'm good friends with Fish from Marillion and we exchange messages weekly and chat

I realise most of you won't know who this is

What do you mean? Everyone here is middle aged aren't they? Grin I know someone who named their daughter Kayleigh!
Sunnysprings · 27/03/2022 17:50

My ex fiance is quite famous, a successful musician and actor.

I know Russell Tovey well, and more importantly his lovely dogs.

I know Neil Tennant, he is very good at playing tea party, so much so that my little one always makes him do it.

Jessie Cave, we used to be housemates.

JaneJeffer · 27/03/2022 17:54

Neil Tennant now that's a good one for any 80's teenager and Smash Hits reader

Longingforatikihut · 27/03/2022 18:12

I went to college with someone who did the modelling on the front of knitting and sewing patterns. Not famous but she would get stopped regularly in the street by people asking where they knew her from. They knew her face but obviously not her name and it would leave people utterly perplexed.

iknowstuff · 27/03/2022 18:14

I know everyone says this about people who have died, but Heath was honestly the nicest guy...easygoing, non judgemental and fun. Not Hollywoody at all, in my experience anyway.

And Orlando is a nice guy but very eccentric. So not the most down to earth but nice and not up himself. He's someone I know through work so we're not best friends or anything.

MissDollyMix · 27/03/2022 18:16

I work with a lot of household names- I wouldn’t call them celebs really but well known in their field. They’re nearly all lovely.
DH was related, by marriage to a very famous British actor. He went to his house a couple of times. Despite the actor’s ‘national treasure’ status, he wasn’t that nice and there were a lot of skeletons in his closet that wouldn’t have matched with his public persona.
My great uncle was captain for West Ham football club- I never met him though so I don’t think that counts…!

So jealous. I love Fish
My3cents1 · 27/03/2022 18:17

@YodaLivesOnMySofa. I would love to met her. She lives her life, no apologies. I think she’s awesome

Rhannion · 27/03/2022 18:18

@iknowstuff

Name change for obvious reasons..

I know a few (job related), for example - Orlando Bloom and Ron Pearlman would two I know best. I was friends with Heath Ledger too back in the day...

I was watching A Knight’s Tale earlier and thinking how sad it was that he died so young.
musicalfrog · 27/03/2022 18:19

@sweepeep

Yes. I know a few American actors, very famous but very normal, down to earth. One is the main character in a long running Netflix series. Another was a more famous as a child actor but still does bits n pieces now.
Omg you're friends with the Queen @sweepeep? That's so damn impressive Grin
My3cents1 · 27/03/2022 18:21

@YodaLivesOnMySofa *meet

Handsnotwands · 27/03/2022 18:21

I know Rupert Everett. Wouldn’t say he’s a friend but I’ve got his number.

Also a range of a particular strain of minor royalty / landed gentry types some of who you’d have heard of but not celebs.

CornishGem1975 · 27/03/2022 18:27

I guess people don't say names as they don't want to out themselves on here, nothing to do with the celeb.

Same here - yes I know one, but given my previous posts if I said who it was and someone else was friends with that celeb they'd probably put two and two together from my previous posts and I like my anonymity on here.

AndAsIfByMagic · 27/03/2022 18:34

I know several stand up comedians.

I've said on here before - Greg Davies is lovely and everything you'd hope he would be. Sarah Millican and Jason Manford really care about their fans and go out of their way for them. Sara Pascoe is beautiful inside and out. Most of the ones I've met are lovely but a few can be a bit "edgy".

My3cents1 · 27/03/2022 18:36

I’m hoping someone will say Nick Kershaw, Peter Cox from Go West, Paul Young, Mike Nolan from Buck’s Fizz ( I so miss the 80s) and Milo Ventimiglia….anyone?

sweepeep · 27/03/2022 18:43

@musicalfrog no not the queen Confusedconfused as to where that came from.

Thehonestybox · 27/03/2022 18:48

Yes from my work, a couple of pretty famous musicians. A few things I was surprised at. Their lives are super ordinary. They don't get hassled in Sainsburys/cinema/on the train anywhere near what I'd imagined they would.
Both of them have personal email addresses that surprised me- literally just their [email protected]

I dunno why that surprised me, I thought they'd be more obsessed with privacy.

Eukanuba · 27/03/2022 18:49
Grin
hidinginthekitchenwithwine · 27/03/2022 18:53

I used to work for one.
Public image: positive, caring friendly.
Reality: toxic, messed up marriage, weird views on women (despite being one), snarky, materialistic and only interested in people she deemed "important"

It's nice to hear that Greg is lovely, and that the others are kind too!

NancyNC2022 · 27/03/2022 18:55

TOWIE’s Gemma Collins is my cousin, does that count 😂? I hardly know her really.

TroysMammy · 27/03/2022 18:55

I love it that Neil Tennant is good at tea party. He must have so much patience. I used to get bored drinking pretend tea when my niece used to make me play.

PollyPutTheKettleOnKettleOn · 27/03/2022 18:57

@sweepeep I think its in reference to you knowing someone v famous, a lead from a Netflix show
