It's Sunday. I'm bored! Do you have any celebrity friends as in close enough to have them on Watsapp etc. Come on give us a clue, maybe some MNers will even be brave enough to tell us names!

I've met (doubt he's that famous) Andy Abrahams - the singer from X Factor or BGT. He's a family friend of a childhood friend of mine. A good few months after she gave birth to her DS he came round to her flat when I was there visiting (just before Xmas) and brought round a really nice perfume gift set for her (it was a joint birthday/Xmas gift for her as her birthday is Christmas Eve. Seemed like a very nice man.

I wish there was someone on here who is friends with Gerard Butler he may need a future carer 😀🤔♥️♥️

Ds2 knows Ben Mills who came third on XF the year Leona Lewis won... Ben is very kind to him and when ds goes to his gigs Ben always makes sure that he gets seats at the front.

I know Russell Tovey quite well. His aunt is my Godmother. My parents shared a house with my godparents for 15 years so would see him here and there. He is an awesomely lovely bloke. I also have a stash of embarrassing child photos from christmases I keep in reserve 🤣.

This is stretching the question to the limit a bit, but here goes...I was in the same year at school as Ali Taylor. She's the canine behaviour expert at Battersea and is often on For the Love of Dogs with Paul O'Grady. We were t in the sa e class so weren't particularly close, but I remember her being funny and likeable. This was early 80s and she was a Rude Girl ie into 2 tone and ska music. I remember she pretended to fart into my Haircut 100 single to express her displeasure with my music choice . She was right though, they were shit

I think we’ve got a long way to go before we reach the limit. Does anyone remember the thread about what it’s like to be famous, where a poster said she knew what it was like because when she was growing up, her mother was the local headmistress and literally everybody knew her?

Yeah, in the 80s most paparazzi had to make do with candid snaps of Princess Di or Madonna - the REAL money shot was of Sue Holdsworth, Head of Alderney Road Secondary in Marlow. The bidding war between The Sun and The Mirror hit six figures at one point.

Good, it was shocking what happened. My brothers were unaffected but the brother in law of one of them was abused by one of the masters. It was an open secret what was going on but my brothers never mentioned it at the time. Our parents had both died by the time it all came out. They'd have been horrified. My brothers got in on an Assisted Places Scheme where the LEA paid for bright kids to attend independent schools (the scheme had stopped by the time I got to secondary school age) and they were very proud of my brothers to get into what was seen as an excellent school that they wouldn't have been able to afford otherwise.

They definitely preyed on boys who were on scholarships & therefore more vulnerable to pressure, and even those whose parents worked at the school.

We spoke to people who had been abused in the 1950’s - by teachers who’d been at the school in the 30’s.

And when the ex-Abbot went in the run they gave rather misleading description of him to the police.

Ghastly stuff. Quite eye-opening.

I have a family member who is famous in his musical genre. I had no idea really until I helped him to get to an event he needed a car for and people who shaking his hand and delighted to meet him.

I also recently worked with someone who had a big hit in the 1960s that was then used in a film in the last 20 years so everyone knows it. They are on my WhatsApp.

It was in Ealing. Quite prestigious independent Catholic boys school but mixed now. Unfortunately like a lot of Catholic institutions there were a few bad apples and there was a history of physical and sexual abuse which was happening for decades and only came out about 10 years ago.
