@BookkeeperBobby

Does anybody else find that all the sauces taste like those pouches you get for stir fry in supermarkets? I really don't like it in there. And they always bring people's food at different times: like, what's the point of going out to eat together if you're not actually eating together?

Sorry I know that doesn't help you OP but I can't understand how this chain has survived so long.

It was better years ago. When the owners of Frankie and Benny's bought the chain a few years ago, it went downhill fast. A lot of elements are pre-cooked. There are cooks (not chefs) assembling pre made /pre frozen elements and putting on a few attractive garnishes. They deserts are all bought in.

Yalu soba, ebi katsu, deep fried duck gyoza, chilli edamame

boobot1 · 25/03/2022 18:27

@Chishnfips

Firecracker chicken. Always clears the sinuses

@Soffit I remember going to one in central London decades ago because there was a buzz about it opening and it was ... okey. We all pretended we were all great and relaxed about sitting with strangers because hey this is the new face of dining etc. But there were always nicer places to eat in London. Now there are nicer places to eat everywhere, and as you say Wagamama (which was never great) is not as good as it was, but it's still popular.

KittenKong · 25/03/2022 18:32

The one near us (behind Selfridges) looks very gloomy these days and often we walk past and it’s empty. It used to be bright and inviting (and have separate sex loos…). We used to go there as students and Ds loved it when he was little.

caprimoon · 25/03/2022 18:42

Ginger chicken udon, amazing... always order the same in case I don't like a different dish as much. Washed down with a large super green Grin

BookkeeperBobby · 25/03/2022 18:44

Lol obviously not popular everywhere then.

D0lphine · 25/03/2022 19:02

Hot katsu chicken curry mmmmmm

Porseb · 25/03/2022 19:21

Wagamamas is like Disney Japanese and East Asian food.

Much better food in small local Japanese restaurants.

CarbonelCat · 25/03/2022 19:25

I love the vegetarian katsu!

And the edemame beans with salt.

I like their kids meal deal, always looks fresh and plenty of colour/veg

FavouritePi · 25/03/2022 19:48

Me and friend/DH will share either gyozas or bao buns (can't remember what they're called on the menu) and that's in any flavour as all the gyozas and buns are yummy. We share these as a starter then I have firecracker chicken which is nice and hot. DH likes a spicy beef brisket + red onion donburi or a duck donburi. My friend swears by a chicken katsu curry.

ineedsun · 25/03/2022 19:53

Kare buruso ramen.
Veggie katsu.
Wok fried greens.

I’d love a wagamamas right now!

Mol1628 · 25/03/2022 20:02

I used to love the tofu ramen and the yasai itame but they got rid of them! Oh and the raw juice but they got rid of that too because of Covid apparently!

Used to love it but it’s not worth the price now.

knittingaddict · 25/03/2022 20:17

Chicken Katsu curry and ginger chicken upon.

knittingaddict · 25/03/2022 20:17

Udon.

Teaandcrumpets95 · 25/03/2022 20:26

I used to work there lol.

Recommend-
Raisukree curry
Yasia/Yaki soba
Pad Thai
Kare baruso ramen
Duck donburi (plenty of kimchi mix everything together )
Firecracker (if you like spice)

Most of the ramens and the katsu are extremely overrated and I wouldn't touch them tbh 😂

Teaandcrumpets95 · 25/03/2022 20:27

Absolutely get the hirata buns though! My favourite thing on the menu!

Titsywoo · 25/03/2022 20:34

Yaki soba or donburi - it's not amazing for Japanese food but it's ok. I won't eat their ramen though - so blah. If you can get a proper tonkotsu broth ramen in another restaurant (pork broth not chicken) then there are amazing ones out there. Ippudo in London is my favourite - proper comfort food.

Kayjay2018 · 25/03/2022 20:40

Wok fried greens, salt edamame, chicken pad Thai and chicken katsu for my son, hubby has firecracker chicken

schroeder · 25/03/2022 20:41

Yasai Yaki Soba although the last time I had it, it was so greasy and disappointing. Used to be fresh and spicy, but also comforting.Sad

IsitFridayyet21 · 25/03/2022 21:12

Mmm gyozas and the firecracker dishes.

tomorrowisanotherdayaotheysay · 26/03/2022 08:26

Duck donburi is delicious!

custardbear · 26/03/2022 09:12

Chicken katsu curry
Duck gyosa
Pork gyosa
Little bun things with beef inside - gorgeous!
