DS has been accepted to the next stage and has to answer questions on his paper and give a presentation tomorrow. He hates it and it is not finished, yet - he aims for a pass (pass = 4 = barely sufficient).
I missed my tablet (the complete family organization) when I came home from work.Luckily I only forgot it at my desk and it was collected and locked away. I brought my work calendar home instead. Hmm
Silkie It is great that you still have the energy to get things done. My senologist likened the chemo to dry cleaning (chemische Reinigung).

Silkierabbit · 06/04/2022 23:09

Hope your DD gets better soon Shoes and you escape.

Helena That sounds like one child needs an early Easter break. We are already on Easter here.

MissC Yes heard quite a few cases, all girls actually who got angry with Mum doing chemo, I think its also as its a stressful time for DD as its gcses looming, hope the break in Paris will make things easier for her and good she felt able to travel whole way by herself. Well aunt picked her up from Eurostar French side. It was running 2 hours late.

Yes Prok I have energy 2 days a week on chemo thanks to steroid power, it only enables me to do things from bed like e-mail, phone, answer reports, do 20 mins exercise but still means I can keep on top of admin. First day of tax year here so was attempting first draft of self-assessment as well as ehcp and getting DD off to Paris and making sure DH phoned mortgage company.

DH made me a lovely smoked salmon salad for lunch (slightly spoilt by full steroid taste, yuck) and a lovely steak in red wine sauce with asparagus for dinner. Have been spoilt today.

mathanxiety · 07/04/2022 01:57

Best wishes to all suffering from covid. This thing really isn't going away.

DoctorTwo, hope your procedure goes well tomorrow.

DD and I usually go for an evening walk but the weather is too unsettled to consider it this evening.

I took Dcat to the vet this morning and she utterly disgraced herself, hissing, clawing, and growling at the vet. It took three assistants wearing gloves that looked like industrial strength oven mitts to hold her on the examining table, but in the end the vet gave up trying to look at her ears and sent me home with 100mg of liquid Gabapentin to give her tomorrow and then return two hours after she ingests it, hopefully feeling less warlike.

HelenaJustina · 07/04/2022 06:34

silkie you’re not wrong. Unfortunately this isn’t totally out-of-the-blue behaviour for this child. The council took their EHCP to mainstream schools with a SEN base unit for consultation. They all said they couldn’t meet needs. Our first question in response was how on earth they thought a mainstream school without a SEN base (ie us) are supposed to do so then. The system is broken and there are not enough spaces in specialist settings.

Only a matter of hours to go. I have to be in for the inset tomorrow but that doesn’t count!

DoctorTwo · 07/04/2022 07:43

Well, today I go to have my tests to see whether or not I need an operation. Having spoken to my daughter I'm a bit calmer now and have decided to at least try to deal with whichever outcome with a calm head. Inwardly I may be shaking but outside I will be zen. I will of course update later.

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 07/04/2022 07:58

Off in a minute to retrieve my tablet from the office (I have a day off today) But there is what counts as a garden center next door, so I will have a look.
DS has actually finished the presentation, did a bit of revision, took a shower, had breakfast and woke me at 6 to use my printer. Grin He is scheduled at 10:30.

Makiwa · 07/04/2022 08:07

Flowers to Silkie, DoctorTwo and anyone else facing any maladies. It can't be easy for you or your families.

Silkie I hope the trip to Paris blows away the cobwebs for your DD. Its very, very wet and windy here this morning.

Helena Shock at what you have to deal with at school!

Better luck with Dcat second time round mathanxiety. She seems to have some character.

Nice to see calming pictures of the ducks Miss.

Today I woke up feeling very hot and with a headache so tested for covid. Negative. Turns out I'm just a middle aged woman. I'll continue painting the stairs which is a project I started on Monday.

Makiwa · 07/04/2022 08:08

Good luto your DS Prok!

Silkierabbit · 07/04/2022 08:35

Hope you feel better soon Makiwa Yes the weather in Paris is not great today or tomorrow but looks fine after that for a few days out and DD is there until Wednesday. MIL will be glad of a couple of days with DD in the house as she has not seen her for a couple of years due to lockdowns / covid. I hope they all enjoy it. I hope DD can get back fine as well as she only has a valid French passport atm, in theory it should be fine as registered to a UK address but her gcses start with French oral about a week after then a gap to 16 May I think. The French oral does not count this year though, just goes on as a separate grade to main one which DD was happy about as she gets anxious about it.

Hope your DS gets on OK today Prok

Math Silkiecat would be proud of that performance though a bit annoyed she hadn't permanently injured the staff.

Good luck DrTwo for today.

Helena Yes the SN is really shocking at the moment, it was always bad but since lockdown needs have skyrocketed and funding seems to have decreased. Its awful for everyone and so sad to see the impact on the children. In DSs year the council basically told me there aren't enough school places for all the kids and DS cannot get into specialist either as he is too anxious to do the autism assessment and there is no provision for selective mute assessment in our county. Its very sad to watch him deteriorate so much, he got the best results in primary, had friends and was happy and chatty, now he is expected to fail all but maths, mute, not writing and no friends and that's lockdown plus no support all through secondary. But the LA said they have finally approached two places, both currently full though but its a start but he is half way through gcses and a move was desperately needed in January a year and a half ago. DD is doing so well in comparison, lots of friends, great grades, great 6th form offers. I have booked him in to an open day for the maths school here in July hoping that will inspire him as it where he wants.

Today I have oncology by video and counselling by video. I feel OK atm though just pins and needles / numbness in both feet which is worrying as don't want that permanently but can feel both legs and my mouth again and my hands. Only lost a few hairs so far. I am also working on the tax return though its more complicated this year as opened a Vanguard general account and not sure how that goes through, just moved more of it over to a SSISA yesterday as its a new tax year and that gets left off tax return. Plus I have a claim for new ESA now which would be for last year partly but won't hear until later. I have until January to do it but prefer it out of the way. And I have one bank account I closed without noting the interest for year, it was probably about 50p but need to try and find that. Lovely day here, will just be another day in bed but did manage around 20 mins exercise yesterday from bed as well as calls and e-mails so on top of admin. Silkiecat is enjoying sunbathing, she is 1 foot from the backdoor as she is not the bravest cat in the world. Grin

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 07/04/2022 12:13

DS got a pass.

But his 4th semester grades are abysmal and he thinks he is on Easter vacations now. As we are very much alike, I messed up his happy plan with bad timing and now DH has to calm the waves and have him agree to a workplan.
(I just never learn.)

DoctorTwo · 07/04/2022 17:54

I turned up on time for my appointment only to be told my name wasn't down. After a few minutes digging the receptionist called me over and told me apologetically that my appointment is actually for next Thursday. We both laughed, and I went to get food from the canteen as I'd been up since 6am with nothing to eat. The Cornish pasty was delicious.

MissConductUS · 07/04/2022 18:13

Math, one of my cats has the known troublemaker notation on his chart at the vets. I've seen those protective gloves come out as well.

I got a letter last night from my gastroenterologist. I'm due for a colonoscopy, oh joy. I"ll ring them to see what dates are available, but I'm not going to do it until June, after DS's graduation.

While reading the letter, I looked out the kitchen window and noticed this visitor in the front garden, a sure sign of spring. All of the rain has been good for the lawn, but it hasn't really started to grow yet.

Come and tell me your dull and unexciting news 22: Calmly through the day

Sev and Felix were docile and sweet little cats at the vets. Never any trouble. Grin
One of NDN cats died at the age of 19 last week, now we (the 'Hausgemeinschaft') are all trying to find a new companion for the one left - preferably adult and indoor.

IWanderedLonely · 07/04/2022 20:23

I am now the proud wearer of a shiny new HRT patch.

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 07/04/2022 20:43

Iwandered Congratulations. I hope it stays where it is supposed to be.

HelenaJustina · 07/04/2022 21:36

Great news on the pass prok well done to your DH for knowing when to step in and intervene with DS!

How did the stairs project go makiwa?

Makiwa · 08/04/2022 07:42

Well done to your DS Prok. The stairs need a second coat Helena but the hall now looks so much brighter without so much dated orange coloured wood.

The weather continues to be very wet but no longer cold.

Silkierabbit · 08/04/2022 09:25

Well done on your DS passing Prok

Its only just 9.17am and already 3 medical things have happened. Hmm Silkiecat has been bleeding again so needs to go back to the vet as may have another urine / kidney infection, last weeks DHs said cost him £220 so hoping she kicks this habit soon. Shock I then had my oncology video which they missed yesterday put back to Monday but now clashes with my chemo if they run late at all and they always run late. And a letter from endocrinology saying after my steroids are finished with chemo I need a 24 hour steroid suppression test but rest of tests are normal for adrenals just to add to my list of medical tests.

Though that hopefully should be it for medical things today, and just have neuropathy in both feet and one hand today, otherwise just a bit drowsy but OK. Hope Silkiecat will be OK, she said she is always perfectly behaved at the vets, its just they need to be disciplined through scratching for trying to abuse cats. Grin She has quite the reputation there and they all always put gloves on before going near her.

ShoesOnFirstThenCar · 08/04/2022 13:58

Well done on DS pass Prok
DoctorTwo shame to get yourself all psyched up only to have to do it all again next week. Glad you enjoyed your pasty though!
Makiwa we (well DH really) had the job of de-orangeing our house when we moved, there was a load of orangey pine everywhere. Glad it’s going ok
Silkie hope silkiecat will be ok
Miss is that in your garden? How lovely!

Our news…..all three of us here now have Covid 🙁

Silkierabbit · 08/04/2022 14:15

Sorry to hear that Shoes hope you are not too ill with it.

Lovely picture MissC nice to see wildlife in the garden. We have all kinds of birds here, quite a few singing ones, and a squirrel but other than that its just Silkiecat.

Heard back from ehcp re schools. Chemo on Monday has been put back to 4.30pm so can now do the 2 appointments same day. I told the nurse about the cancer charity giving us a night in a hotel by the river and she started crying, she said they treated the lady who set up the charity, she has sadly died.

DD messaged twice, once to ask what I don't mind is in French and once about her brother.

Champagneforeveryone · 08/04/2022 16:28

DDog1 has had a haircut - this has gone some way to revealing a more svelte figure, though there is still some way to go Wink

DH has a hangover is a little tetchy. DDog2 is snoozing and DS is playing drums (again)

We're off out for dinner shortly, then to a local pub to watch a band. It's a proper heavy metal / rock type place so DS will be utterly in his element Smile

AnchorWHAT · 08/04/2022 16:33

I tried a red lipstick today instead of pink 💄

Echobelly · 08/04/2022 16:58

Boring but pleasing news: I got offered a new job just after paying up for a quite expensive course it looked like I might need to get that kind of job. So I asked for my money back and they made it very simple to do and will be returning my payment.

Lemonsandlemonade · 08/04/2022 19:07

Hi all,

I think SEN or ALN as we like to be different in Wales is terrible at the moment. Getting support for a child we have is like pulling teeth. Every professional teapot highlights the complex needs of the child but under the new ALN bill as long the child makes progress then all is well.

Nothing interesting to report here. Went to mother and baby club today. Got roped into leading the story time.

Lemonsandlemonade · 08/04/2022 19:08

Reports not teapots 🤦‍♀️
