Maths That would be a street party (Straßenfest). A Hoffest is more private and non commercial - but yes, kids mill around, beer and food is had and there is music till after midnight.

Miss Opuntiae I think - how lovely! That will be the next cactus I'll buy.

My annual leave has been signed - off work from the 8th to the 24th of July.

Silkie I really do hope that Mr. Fluff develops are healthier sleep pattern (healthy for humans that is) Grin

Plastichanger · 20/06/2022 19:47

In dull news, I have eaten a bit too much for dinner.

Silkies the school are behaving shockingly. I am so angry on yours and your DS’s behalf. The shocking waste of police time and resources is unconscionable.

Miss I am so glad the injection worked and your pain has eased. Long may it last! Also, your deck plants look lovely. I saw a duckling on my walk recently and thought of you and your ducks.

Lemons I hope you and your family feel better soon.

IWanderedLonely · 20/06/2022 21:05

Took the grandchildren to the park this afternoon- saw 10 goslings of various sizes. Problem is, it's not a huge park and is overrun with geese (& goose poo) but as long as people keep feeding them, they've no incentive to move on. I think they're Canada geese. Will have a Google.

Silkierabbit · 20/06/2022 23:12

11th chemo done, only 1 to go. Massive delays as lots of emergencies and one I saw no bed anywhere in hospital and were saying try a different hospital, cancer patient. 2 hour wait to go in then very slow but done.

Came back to message saying ds has no school anywhere in county until at keast September as school lose him. La will be in touch about home tutors and maybe a dog therapist.

Will catch up on rest later but love to all.

Silkierabbit · 20/06/2022 23:32

Iwandered That sounds lovely.

Plast Thank you. I am really shocked as well, it is a right shambles and very worrying as he is half way through gcses with no plan for y11 now.

Prok glad you got annual leave. Any plans

Sue hope op goes as well as it can.

Silkierabbit · 20/06/2022 23:34

Lovely pics MissC

Glad sunburn getting better Math

Hope you can get lots of rest Lemons and turn the corner soon.

Workinghardeveryday · 20/06/2022 23:37

@Silkierabbit hope you are feeling okay after today.

take it easy xxx

Silkierabbit · 20/06/2022 23:43

Thank you Workinghard I feel ok thanks just a long day.

The school thing is ok for this term as only 16 school days left but its not ok for y11. But need to think more.

Dd has 3 more gsces and level 3 4th exam left. She is doing very well. So is Floof.

Hope you are ok working.

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 21/06/2022 09:00

Sikie Hope you are feeling as well as possible! Only one more to go - will there be a celebration after the last one?

What will I do on my days off: I'll be 60, so a meal out is on the cards. Perhaps a visit to the city archives of Essen and Duisburg.
And the dreaded "what to do with DS". He is not prepared to put in any effort into anything and tries to excuse this with his diagnoses. As neither is GGM, GF, mother, DSis or DF ever used their brains as an excuse (and even his cousin does the best he can) I am not prepared to tolerate this. Not looking forward.

The tomatoes are coming along nicely.

Happy summer solstice for everyone in the northern hemisphere.

Math, since I had my second skin cancer removed last year I am absolutely fanatic about using sunscreen. I've been very lucky both were caught early.

Silkie, I hope your chemo went okay today.

Father's Day was pretty low-key. DS got DH some flavored coffees. DD says her gift is en route but running late. We both had the day off yesterday. DH washed and waxed his car, then did mine too, which I thought was quite nice. I think DH is going to get a new charcoal grill. The one we have now is over 20 years old.

I started a project I've been putting off. DS came home from uni with two giant plastic bins filled with school supplies, clothes, various personal care items and general tat. We've been sorting through it. So far we've filled two bin bags and I've done loads of laundry. He really needs more storage space for his clothes.

More cactus blossoms opened yesterday. They appear and are gone in a flash.

It's quiet on here this week. Hope everyone is OK.
I'm off to the Dr's this morning - HRT hasn't made much difference so I don't know what the next step is.
I'm cooking a turkey for tea (I bought it at Christmas for £7.00 & I'm fed up of it taking up all the space in the freezer)

DoctorTwo · 22/06/2022 10:31

I managed to smash the screen on my two yea rold NOKIA. Frankly I'm surprised, the amount of times it's been dropped. I have my hospital appointment tomorrow, hopefully I find out what's wrong with me.

Good luck Silkies, only one more round to go, we're all rooting for you. Plus Mr Floof needs you.

Silkierabbit · 22/06/2022 21:17

Hope it all goes as well as it can tomorrow DrTwoand thanks for your kind message.

Hope you have a lovely 60th Prok and good luck with lazy boys.

Lovely photo MissC

Enjoy your turkey Iwandered

Very little sleep as trying to get some education for DS. I got school 6k for DS a month or so ago as before they just got 4k a year now its 10k plus they are supposed to spend 6k of own. School said on Mondat as they keep losing him he must be at home until at least September but no education plan. I asked school and they offered 1 gcse and maybe a dog in our house but said dog maybe busy until September and said maybe DS needed a holiday. DS would love bumming around until September living teenage boy dream but this is not likely to end well so managed to get LA to fund 11 gcse subjects for 2 hours total a day until end of term tba. No dog as not compatible with indoor rabbit, kitten and silkies. Hopefully will start soon. I had 1 online lesson I did for ds, useful but was so tired. Got in touch with head of 6th form want ds to go to and got la to agree. Floof was being silly boy and jumped on rabbit but that did at least get other silly boy ds to move. 3 gcses to go by Friday and then last chemo Mon and can concentrate on boys silly season. Cornwall soon as well.

Lemonsandlemonade · 22/06/2022 21:48

Hope tomorrow goes ok Sue.

DH better but tired after Covid. I’m good but tired. DS went to nursery today.

DS being very slow on the walking front he can take steps about 10 but is much happier to craw.

DM is struggling with covid a bit.

IWanderedLonely · 22/06/2022 22:00

Silkie you are amazing.
Dr Two hope all goes well tomorrow.
Lemons glad you're feeling better (if tired).
I'm shattered, but it's been a lovely sunny day so took grandchildren to the park & they paddled in the river.
Turkey was nice, if a little dry. Had it with various salads etc ( think MN calls it picky bits, we call it pick & mix).

Silkierabbit · 22/06/2022 22:13

Thanks Iwandered

Floof has been worn out by his game.

halfpasteleven · 22/06/2022 22:39

Best wishes to everyone who is under the weather, attending appointments..

Silkie, well done in ALL that you have achieved for your DS so far, and hope you're feeling ok after the second last chemo.

Took DD to see her new play school today- she will be starting in September and I can't think about it. She took it all in her stride though.

mathanxiety · 23/06/2022 04:14

What a handsome fellow Mr Floof is. Lovely photos.
Hope you're recovering well from the chemo, Silkies.

DoctorTwo, hope all went well.

My sunburn has turned into a slight tan.
We had electricians today (promised yesterday but better late than never). They restored power to the wall of my kitchen where I have the microwave and dishwasher plugged in. No more hand washing of the gazillion dirty plates, glasses, and pieces of cutlery two DDs and I manage to generate every day. Huzzah!

They also fixed a dodgy outlet in the bathroom. It is now a GFI outlet, much safer right next to the sink.

One of the bathroom lights above the sink had a problem for a good while where every bulb I put in caused a fizzing sound, followed by the light popping off. So I had resigned myself to just having one light over the sink instead of two. Today I put a bulb in to show the electrician that there was a problem, and lo and behold it worked. Oh the shame.

I had to buy a new phone as my old one isn't compatible with 5G. I got a good price (I hope) but will be unable to call or text with my old phone from today except using WhatsApp.

I baked a quiche this evening as the heat finally died down, making it possible to use the oven. I have picky eaters - if the quiche were a Venn diagram I would be in the middle with cheese, onions, spinach, and mushrooms, DD3 would be in the cheese and spinach section, and DD4 in the cheese, onion, and spinach section. The quiche ended up looking like a peace sign.

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 23/06/2022 05:49

Hello and good morning,
DS's school helper is prepared to continue helping him transition to work, if I can get the funding. New word: Einzelfallhelfer. 😀

sueelleker · 23/06/2022 06:24

Thank you Lemons. I woke at 6.00, and though I'd usually go back to sleep, thought I'd better get up. I'm only allowed to eat until 7.30, and although I don't usually eat breakfast this early I thought I'd better have something; as I'm not likely to be home until tea-time.

MissConductUS · 23/06/2022 15:47

Lemons, I'm glad to hear that you're turning the corner on covid. Lots of infants don't see much point in walking when they can crawl. I think they do it eventually because they see everyone else walking.

Math, what was the problem with the electric power for that part of your kitchen?

DS gave DH a selection of gourmet pretzels for father's day. It included spicy mustard, brick oven pizza, and salted caramel flavors. They're very good. DS has now eaten most of the pretzels.

Silkierabbit · 23/06/2022 19:26

Thanks for your lovely message Half Hope the play was nice, I think its quite an adjustment when your child goes to school, hopefully she will love it and flourish there.

Thanks Math glad you got electrics sorted.

Glad you have some help with DS Prok

Hope all went OK today DrTwo and Sue

That sounds like what my DD would do MissC

Time for a new thread again.

I did meeting with LA, ed pscy and DS online tutoring for English, DD did GCSE physics and last 2 exams tomorrow. I just ordered pizza as her favourite and she's happy.

mathanxiety · 23/06/2022 22:15

Sadly I do not speak Polish, MissC, so I can only guess that the issue was a combination of a worn out GFI socket in the kitchen plus an issue with the circuit breaker in the basement. They were really quick.

Silkierabbit · 23/06/2022 22:25

Dd bought a yoga mat tonight

Come and tell me your dull and unexciting news 22: Calmly through the day
Prokupatuscrakedatus · 23/06/2022 22:31

Silkie You mean he got Mr. Fluff a yoga mat, he might lend to you. Smile
