I had several people try to put needles into me, all the way up to an anaesthetist. When mention of a need to try and take more bloods, all the doctors got scared. Senior sister did it after three more tries.

DoctorTwo · 26/05/2022 21:26

Good luck with the chooks tomorrow Silkie, hopefully Ruth will be top of the pecking order.

Prok, you found an ancestor from nearly 400 years ago? That is cool.

I am still processing something that happened to me today, will probably post about it tomorrow.

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 26/05/2022 22:00

Doctor I was quite happy about it - an unindexed mircrofilm scan, I worked my way through from back to front.

No bad news, I hope?

IWanderedLonely · 26/05/2022 22:13

Loving the lighter evenings.
Going away tomorrow after work while Son-in-law is on paternity leave (booked when we thought we still had a couple of weeks before new GD appeared).
In the spirit of the thread, our hydrangea, which hardly flowered last year, is full of buds, but the bits of lawn which we sowed with wildflower seeds only has grass coming up so far.

I'm afraid our lawn seems to be in a similar state Iwandered..
Still hoping for some wild flowers for the Summer
It's been a wet, windy and cold May here mostly.
But the weekend is promised good so we are looking forward to that.

Silkie, the reservoir is a lovely setting. It could be a film scene. Great news about the new chickens. I wouldn't trust my cats around them. They are way too focused on chasing birds.

I saw the heron catch a fish today, but it was too quick to get a photo.

DrB, are you having a bad day? Still under the weather?

DS went out to lunch with two of his mates from high school who are still in the area, so that's nice.

Dreadful day tearful all day getting there infection wise , no I’m done now with tears and that arsehole Kama will hit. Today is May 27th Stranger things day and now it’s my time oh yes My Dr Brenner is back.

DrBrennerFan · 27/05/2022 09:00

Just got my revenge named and shamed on twitter permanently blocked now had to unblock for a few seconds loaded photo as evidence laughing head off now I can tell youright later on off to drool for the day after hairdressers.

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 27/05/2022 11:21

DD has a folding door closing off her part of the room. Or better had - I tried to leave her room without opening the door first.
On Monday I will got to our local Hornbach (DIY) and get someone in to measure for and install a proper door.

MissConductUS · 27/05/2022 19:59

DrB, I'm a bit concerned about your infection. Were both prescriptions for amoxicillin?

Prok, good choice. Everyone deserves a proper door for their bedroom.

The heron has discovered that by perching on the mysterious stone structure, it is easier to find fish to catch.

I have not seen the ducks or geese since the heron appeared. I wonder if they don't get along and it's a territory issue.

DS asked DH last night to help him fill out the form to enroll in his online courses for the summer and submit the payment. The forms are due today and the courses start on Tuesday. Let's hope there are no problems getting him enrolled.

Sorry your NDN cannot get a rescue cat Prok and hope you can get a door fitted. Here it is quicker now to learn how to make your own door and fit it than to find a carpenter. 🙀

Thanks DrTwo hope you are OK. The two new silkies settled in fine then DH took Ruth out, DH came back with a bruised eye and Ruth was apparently determined to be top of the pecking order and batting the two new ones. They are younger but same size. I said to DH to try some fruit or veg and see if we can stuff Ruth full so will go to sleep and calm down. DH did that and she took herself off to bed and has been calm since. But when DH went back the two new ones, DD has named them Carol white one and Barbara the silver one, no idea why they have these names, had not worked out how to climb up into the cottage and Ruth was in there not offering help. So DH carried them up. All was well in the night and DH opened in the morning, Ruth went out and other two were hmmm what do we do. But they seem to be getting on now. Ruth is Head Chicken, not sure what benefits there are but important to Ruth. Other two are so gentle.

Glad your DS met with friends MissC

Cleaner here today for 4 hours from 10.30am.

Yesterday I heard a cancer charity has given us a week in a cottage on the Cornish coast, we are so lucky. It not far from Lands End. It is in term time in July but DD wont have school and think school will be ok with DS going. Also used my Avios points to book a jet boat to seals in Norfolk for this Friday.

Hope you feel better soon DrB and Pink

Thank you I love get there (hopes) mentally much happier stranger things has seen to that. That’s my summer sorted he can get on with it husband I mean I’ll do my own thing. Birthday mine I mean cancelled. I’ve told mum never take a photo of me again it will be automatically deleted

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 28/05/2022 10:05

Silkie If I can't get a carpenter, I have two other ideas to close that room off. The door just fell down completely, so I have to find an emergency solution anyway.

It is windy and cold here and I cannot discover if DS prepares for his oral exam or not. I fear he is not.
DH is making taboulé and I do some cleaning.

Silkierabbit · 28/05/2022 10:29

Hope you can find a carpenter Prok If its a standard size door our DIY stores like B&Q sell internal doors and I don't think they are that hard to do yourself if they are exactly the right size, think you just fit it to hinges. This is the less straightfoward guide.

www.wickes.co.uk/how-to-guides/home-maintenance/hang-an-internal-door

Otherwise for a temporary solution people here sometimes do curtains often heavy fabric like velvet.

Silkierabbit · 28/05/2022 12:05

How lovely - have they been named yet? The brown one looks like a Gerda.

Sadly, it is not a standard door, as the wall was put up when I needed to separate DS and DD (at the same time I had extra outlets installed). The size is OK put the wall is thinner. DD has managed to rehang the folding panels, which gives us a bit of time.
And a foto of a bit of landscape and sunshine

Silkierabbit · 28/05/2022 14:47

Lovely photo Prok

DH is naming the silkies korma and tikka Hmm but DD named them Carol (white one) and her friend named the silver one Barbara. I asked DD why as these seem strange names for chickens to me and she said they were aiming at middle aged women names but said they got older women names instead. No idea why you would name young chickens after middle aged women. But its better than food they could be made into. I think a longer consultation period may be required on names. Grin

Cleaners have just gone and did DDs room, DSs room, dining room, kitchen and downstairs bathroom and looks much better. Rest was OK before. Mr Floof was very curious but keeping his distance, interesting to spy on. The rabbit thought chase the hoover was a good game.

DD is back from the gym. DH is having a nap as he is recovering from the pre tidy for the cleaners. The cleaners also discovered DS has a secret stash of washing up.

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 28/05/2022 15:16

Chickens are middle adged by definition - hence Gerda, but Barbara and Karola sound great.
Whenever DH wants to switch on the dish washer, I run behind (DC live at the other end of the flat) and yell: "Dishes, now!" that's what I learned in the ADHD / AS parenting courses Grin

DrBrennerFan · 28/05/2022 17:43

💔💔💔💔💔💔💔💔💔💔💔today I died emotionally yet again have done lots in my life bathroom unable to be continued due to drainage pipes money pit. So today I snapped inside I’ve hard just had. (Off to hibernate and not coming out again what’s the point)

Silkierabbit · 28/05/2022 19:20

Yes I think we need to do that Prok

DD tried to introduce the rabbit to Mr Floof twice but both times Mr Floof found rabbit too scary. Rabbit bounces a lot. Silkiecat was also terrified of rabbit. Though in the end she used to sit up much higher than him and give him the evil eye. Rabbit is desperate to be friends but goes completely hyper near cats and tries to jump on them. There was also going to be a food war as rabbit went to eat and Mr Floof thought I love eating too. They could have a veg / meat peace deal only rabbit tries to eat all food belonging to any animal or person and wants to be friends with an animal that does not eat food and is happy to be jumped on.

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 28/05/2022 20:58

Does bouncy rabbit wrestle with table cloths, too? Is it channeling its inner Tigger?

Actually - I usually do not speak English to my DC, so it is "Geschirr, jetzt. Papa will spülen." what I yell. I first had a parenting course for NT children and wondered why nothing worked, until I learned that "Zieh Dir bitte die Schuhe an wir müssen gleich gehen." does not reach their brains. "Schuhe an, jetzt" got results stress free for all. But I shocked some parents.

Silkierabbit · 28/05/2022 21:14

😂Prok he cant get to a tablecloth as he is in the living room but he is like a wallaby bouncing round and no sense of fear at all, his only fear is running out of food.

mathanxiety · 29/05/2022 07:18

Prok, I love your style of short, clear orders Smile
Lovely photo. Hope nobody was hurt by the folding door. They're easy to knock off their tracks, at least for me, but hard to hang up again.

Silkies I suppose there really is no way to discern what goes on in the minds or hearts of hens. Glad the silkies sorted themselves out in the end, and hope relationships remain stable. I love Barbara and Carol for chookie names. My neighbours here had June, Wilma, and Ethel.

Lovely warm, clear weather today. I potted some annuals I bought in Walmart and sorted out the deck. I need to find a healthy-looking basil plant.

DrBrennerFan · 29/05/2022 09:00
