Miss I hope you continue to have a lovely time despite your back.

I have my hair cut short again, great feeling Smile. DD and I then went to IKEA because she had won some small giftcards. She got pans, of all things.
Discovered a plant of Jakobskreuzkraut (ragwort?) in one of our big planters. DH removed it instantly.

Silkierabbit · 20/05/2022 21:32

Glad you are feeling great after your haircut Prok I still have short hair now, normally have long hair but the frozen peas have kept my hair on top intact so ear length bob now and no more falling out atm.

DD sat GCSE Maths today and thinks she got full marks so that is first 7 exams down, 20 to go, 5 next week, week off, then 5, 5, 5 so 5 weeks to go until over but very glad week 1 is over and went well. Mr Floof has been a big help keeping her calm and happy though he was a bit much for me on chemo energy levels. I woke to him jumping from my headboard to my laptop on top of me but thankfully this time he did not knock the laptop over. DD went out with friends today and back around 8pm so I had a long day of kitten silliness. DD is now home until next exam on Tuesday and completely taken over kitten duty, he is purring a lot as they love each other so much.

DH cleared the living room chicken and rabbit things which is good and he made sausage, aligot and leeks for me which was nice. I also had a big milky coffee.

I watched Below Deck Australia and e-mailed some friends but was good to catch up on a bit of sleep today inbetween Mr Floof hyperness.

DrBrennerFan · 20/05/2022 21:58

Awful week but twitter tonight has made me very happy loads and I mean loads of Dr Brenner pictures , I bet next week we’ll break twitter once s4 airs. Hi everyone hope everyone is ok getting good treatment health wise and feeling better hugs especially those with cancer etc and serious health issues.

DoctorTwo · 20/05/2022 22:22

Silkie I have never watched Below Decks Australia, is it any good? I spend my telly watching time on crap like Car S.O.S and Garage Rehab, wouldn't recommend unless you're a sad old man.

I have spent half the evening listening to Troublegum by Therapy?, definitely would recommend, especially if you need to let energy go by jumping around. Screamager is a wonderful piece of power pop.

Silkierabbit · 20/05/2022 23:08

Thanks DrB

DrTwo I enjoy all the Below Deck. Never watched much TV until the pandemic but then missed travel and you see a bit of the world with them and boats and I like boats as well. Not as much as steam trains but nearly. Other than that its the 20 somethings working on them and the clients. Its very light watching but its good for me at the moment as its a nice distraction from the cancer and relaxing though if I had more of a life atm and was travelling like could before it would be better though I might still watch them. I think you can get a free trial on hayu and once you have seen 1 or 2 they are all fairly similar so can see if you like it. There's a few on Netflix but not Australia one, its Below Deck Med and Below Deck I think. I like the Australia one best as it shows Great Barrier Reef etc. They are a bit addictive though if you get into them. Only thing with Hayu is there isn't a lot else on it and I feel slightly robbed paying £4.99 a month but did get quite a few free ones and in the scheme of things its the least of my worries. Mr Floof was not too impressed, he watched for about 5 minutes then went to sleep. Grin

MissConductUS · 21/05/2022 14:32

We are waiting for the ceremony to started.

DD is not a morning person.😀

Hello! I posted on the very first thread (although have namechanged since then). Today's news is that I have a dress from last year which I've only worn twice and two new dresses on order and I've just realised one of my favourite pairs of sandals will go with all three of them. And I have some upcoming occasions to wear them all. Hurrah.

MissConductUS · 18/05/2022 15:14

Lemons, I'm sorry to hear that you're having back issues too. They are really hard to diagnose and treat, as I'm learning first hand. Did the nursery use a scanning thermometer or an old fashioned stick type? Infants are prone to body temperature swings, more so than you would see in an adult. The teething can be awful. When it got bad with mine I'd use the infant dose of ibuprofen. That usually did the trick.

Your school trip cost is probably due to the rising cost of diesel fuel. Our drive to Boston and back is going to be expensive as well.

I’m not using tablets now just the gel paracetamol is my painkiller and that.

BOOTS52PollyPrissyPants · 21/05/2022 17:51

Thank you for the warm welcome xx

DoctorTwo · 21/05/2022 18:49

Ah, I see, it's pure escapism Silkie. I have seen it advertised on E4 but not watched, might give it a go now. Still wouldn't recommend the crap I watch though, it would still be crap if it was the only thing on. Screamager is still great though...

HelenaJustina · 21/05/2022 19:55

DD4 is addressing me as ‘bestie’, she wants something…

Left work at 8:20pm yesterday and was back by 8:35am this morning to start setting up for the school summer fete. It was the first since summer 2019 and there was such a lovely atmosphere plus it didn’t rain!

Lemonsandlemonade · 21/05/2022 20:56

Had a lovely and busy day today. Saw Canadian geese and lots of goslings today. Then went to beech.

We are away for a night tonight. Me DH and DS as it’s our wedding anniversary on Monday.

Beach not beech autocorrect went mad!

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 21/05/2022 21:43

I have spent this stormy Saturday working my way through a scan of the church records of Friemersheim eating 1/2 bag of crisps (100 g) and a bar of chocolate while doing so.

Pinklimey · 21/05/2022 22:36

I hate salad. My lettuces have grown really well. Suddenly I keep eating salad- and liking it 🤷🏽‍♀️😺

MissConductUS · 22/05/2022 11:50

I'm glad to hear that, DrB.

Thanks for joining us, Boots52.

Happy almost anniversary, Lemons. Lovely pictures.

Prok, crisps and chocolate are essential food groups.

Salad is good for you, Pinklimey. I should eat more myself. I have tomatoes started in my deck garden. If I put lettuce out there the cats would eat it.

The commencement ceremony was lovely, if a bit long. Almost a thousand students were graduating, so it took almost an hour and a half to hand out all of the diplomas. We had a quick lunch of takeaway sandwiches from Whole Foods and then got on the road. DS took DD to her uni, then came home from there. We drove home directly from Boston. I am so glad I don't have to do that drive anytime soon again. We got home just before 7:00 and DS about 45 minutes later. It was too late to really get dinner organized, so DH got a takeaway from our favorite tex/mex place.

DS got a bit emotional, just at the enormity of it all. He was rather badly language delayed as a toddler and had some ADHD, so he really struggled in school early on. It got better as he got older, but he still had challenges. He's really quite intelligent, well organized, etc. so always had a lot of potential. He just struggled in certain areas. Now he's done brilliantly in uni, got his degree, and has a fabulous job lined up doing work he likes. I think he's having trouble accepting that it's all worked out so well for himself.

Today I get working on the mountain of laundry he brought home. 😊

I’m so glad everyone had a good time at the graduation, Miss.

it was lovely day here today. I went for a walk this morning and spent the rest of the day relaxing in the garden - wonderful!

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 22/05/2022 21:08

Congratulations to your DS Miss!

DS will sit his last 'Abi-Klausur' tomorrow, his last oral exam on the 31st.
Then we will be waiting for preliminary results, if he is unlucky and his exam results appear to be unusually good or bad he will be pulled in for more oral exams. But on the 2nd of July certificates will be handed out and I will celebrate with his mentor. (Hopefully!) No idea what will be happening after this day, though.🤔

MissConductUS · 22/05/2022 21:21

It was a lovely day here as well, Nydj, just a bit hot (about 35 C). We got caught up on shopping and cleaning, and I managed to reduce the laundry mountain a bit. DH and DS used to the leaf blower to clear the long, stringy seeds that the oak trees drop this time of year from the driveway and deck. We have a lot of oak trees.

Thank you, Prok. What skills or knowledge will be tested in the Abi-Klausur? Good luck to him.

DH and DS are going to grill chicken and steak for dinner. I'm going to make a batch of DS's favorite chocolate chip cookies.

Your DS sounds like a son you should be so proud of Miss. He has done so well.
My DD has a speech disorder so your post gives me hope.

Those baby birds were beautiful Lemons.

We had a quiet weekend- catching up with friends and family and a walk on the beach. Bliss.

mathanxiety · 23/05/2022 02:29

Congratulations to your DS, MissC. A huge accomplishment. It's fantastic to have a job lined up. How long does he have before he starts work?

I've always enjoyed causing consternation among my graduating DCs by threatening to jump to my feet and roar out Erin go Braaaaaaaagh!!! when their names are called. I haven't worked up the nerve to do it so far, but I have two to go Wink

CharlotteSt it's always nice when you buy something that matches footwear you already have, or a handbag for that matter. I wish my subconscious mind worked more efficiently. Usually one item is bought and then it all snowballs. Hence several handbags and pairs of dressy sandals.

Prok fingers crossed you will be celebrating on the 2nd of July.

DS noticed that my left brake light was out when he was driving behind me and I was cursing whoever it was who was riding my bumper* *so I had to run out to get a replacement bulb, which DS installed after watching a YouTube video.

MissConductUS · 23/05/2022 14:44

Halfpast, we are certainly very proud of him. Having a disability doesn't define anyone. It is important that the child gets the appropriate services and support. DS received testing and speech therapy from our school district when he was two years old and it really made a difference.

Math, they allowed him to pick a start date in September. He's put it off because he wants to take some additional college courses online over the summer. He needs to do this because he graduated with 138 credit hours and he needs 150 to take the CPA exam. It's just an artificial barrier to entry as almost no one graduates college with 150 credits. If he gets the additional 12 credit hours this summer he won't have to worry about getting them in his spare time once he's working.

One of the officials at the college reviewed the rules for guests and parents before the ceremony started. One of them was no shouting of anything when a student's name was called to receive their diploma. It's tempting. 🙂

Not to monopolize the thread, but I was glad to see that Mr. and Mrs. Duck are still residing at the reservoir. I observed them having a bit of a frolic on the spillway.

It's much nicer and cooler here today. DS's only task today is to post DD a package with some shoes she left in the car. She's just texted me to say she needs some other things from home, but it's too late to include them with the shoes, so I asked her to send me a list and we'd send whatever else she needs separately.

Lovely bird pics Miss and Lemons. May I add mine. I observed some baby wagtails on the patio today (poor photo apologies) and Swan family on the canal on the weekend.
