Makiwa yes, I knew there was something. And I wondered why the heating did not start!

DD is going out to see her boyfriend and has shown me 3 outfits so far for my views. Grin Think she has now settled on outfit 3.

DH wanted an extra hour in bed. Silkiecat is Angry about this as she has tasks for DH and just because she needed him in the night as well does not mean he can slack in the morning. He is getting up and going to give her a second breakfast, first one was 3am.

Happy Mother's day (UK) everyone. Went to church with DS1 - lovely flower ceremony there and gorgeous sermon about amazing women in the Old testament. Then to pub for a glass of sparkling wine (DC are adults!) then home to linch which DH had made. I pointed out he isn't my son and that they should be doing it but he argued him making lunch meant i could spend more time with my sons so we agreed on that.

Happy Mother’s Day to all those celebrating, and to all the different kinds of mothers and mothering that there are.

I had cards, flowers, chocolate and a bottle of gin this morning. We’ve been to Mass, both DH and I have spent an hour with our mothers. I did a roast chicken with French bread and a variety of salads for lunch lazy but delicious I’ve done 4 miles walking with DC1-3 while 4 had a riding lesson, we met at a nice chocolaterie for refreshments afterwards. All in all a lovely day. Just swim training for DC2, kitchen cleaning and bed changing to do.

I am trying to figure out how to get 10.000 steps into my day. If I walk all the way to work, I manage about 7000 steps.

But walking through inner city Berlin in summer?

Happy Mother’s Day to everyone! I’ve had a lovely day, dds made me a coffee, flowers, chocolate, cards. Dh looked after one dd while the other 2 visited my mum with me, and spent time with my sister too. Home for all dds pitching in to make middle dds Easter bonnet. Dh is cooking lamb, and I’m doing nothing!

You all sound like you had lovely days. We had a good Mother's day too in the end. Very overcast here but we walked back from church where they handed out big bunches of daffs to everyone. DSs gave me a scented candle and some hand cream and we had a bottle of sparkling wine and some cheesecake, then the sun came out so we climbed the hill and admired the horses and spotted a vole in the meadow.

It's not Monday's Day here yet. It will be in May.

My Yorkshire pudding were possessed yesterday. I have never seen anything like it.

It was like mutant yorkshires.

They tasted pretty good. All crispy and full of holes.

I think it might be the bread flour!

Love Who cares what they look like - they were tasty that is all that matters! Easy for me to say as for me this is an 'ethnic' dish from a foreign culinary tradition. The correct preparation of kale on the other hand. Grin

Oh, and silkie the owl had me know that French champignon does not tranlsate to German Champignon but to Pilz. [sigh]

They look good Lovefall!
Got up far too early for my liking, given the clocks went forward, to take DS2 to his rugby match, then hotfooted it down the valley to watch DS1 in his (someone had kindly taken him). Weather was beautiful.
Had dinner partly cooked for me, as I had to peel the carrots and make the cheese sauce.
Forwent an afternoon nap in favour of getting a section of my dissertation done.
A productive day all in all.

Thank you for the new thread, Miss.

The weather has been lovely over the last few days but we are braced for it to get cooler over the coming week.

Prok, I feel for you with the reappearance of the piles of papers but they don’t seem to be as big as the piles from last time. Perhaps it’s wishful thinking on my part.

After reading your posts a few threads ago, Silkie, I can’t help but have a big smile as I think of you and how you always call them long broccoli. I hope your chemo tomorrow goes well (ok, as well as it can go bearing in mind it is chemo) and the new gel cooling aids work well.

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 27/03/2022 21:38

Nydj This new little pile contains stuff relating to his covid tests, so hopefully they will be gone when he's got is 'recovered cert.'.

DS just threw away 4 semesters worth of paperwork he no longer needs and sorted the rest into - well, heaps Smile and I baked him muffins.

We eat two types of brocolli here Nydj normal brocolli like the round one and long stem brocolli, the tenderstem one and both kids really like brocolli (DS will eat whole plates of it raw or cooked, any type, normally everything he eats is beige apart from fruit) and DD (veggie but doesn't eat most veg) eats it but prefers the round brocolli. I first got DS into brocolli with the long brocolli saying it looked like trees as DS loved trees and he would eat it giggling saying he was eating trees. I prefer the long brocolli. DH eats both but think he prefers the long one too. But we are all very happy broccoli exists.

Feeling rough this morning losing feeling in my body and a bit out of it but after some sleep, a lovely Sunday lunch and homemade apple strudle and custard DH made and lots of drinks feeling OK. Washed my hair, wierd to think before too long I won't have any though it can be longer on Pac before it goes. Normally its 14 days. I read someone yesterday who is was 5 weeks after the end of chemo though it varies a lot so will see. I ordered myself a beanie with puffins on.

Just woke up and saw DH had left a message that he has gone back to the Post Office collect thing so think he missed a parcel of the chemo yesterday but that seems OK, as I got an e-mail saying collected on that an hour ago. A little baffled as to why he is not back now though he's probably at a late night supermarket getting me a Mother's Day present. Grin Or maybe my birthday present as that is soon as well. I am really not bothered about either both are just lying in bed feeling bleurgh post chemo and he's been amazing anyway.

Glad others had lovely Mother's Days. DH is always very glad its a different date in France as its a big thing for MIL. Think DD will be going to Paris. DS is bathed and in bed.

Happy mother's day to all!

I don't think I've ever had Yorkshire pudding.

Inspired by my clearing out the freezer yesterday, DH did a complete refrigerator clean today. He took everything out, washed the glass shelves and the bins on the door and tossed everything past its best by date. The fridge is about a year and a half old, so we got it at the worst of the pandemic and this is its first major cleaning.

We just got off Zoom with the kids and MIL so DH is getting ready to grill. DS has a start date in September for his new job. I made mac & cheese this afternoon, so that just needs to go in the oven.

DH has been located in the house. Neither of the kids did anything for Mother's Day though its fine, its a really difficult time for them and DH is being so amazing with everything and he just came to say that he loved me as much as Silkiecat loves him. Grin I know from DH he bought a card so will probably get something at some point though DD always refers to it as "Mothers Day and your birthday combined thing" as she merges them. She had a lovely day with boyfriend and now sleeping. DH has just bought me a cup of tea and an elderflower cordial as need to drink a lot with this.

Hoping you all had a happy Mothers' Day. The big day is in May here.

We're having a cold blast complete with the occasional snow flurry.

I did the bare minimum of housework this weekend. Got some reading in instead. It was a good weekend for a comfy armchair and several mugs of tea.

For years Mother’s Day was hell. Yes I was/am very thankful for my DM but seeing all these people with children being thanked for something I thought I would never have hurt like heck. I realised how bad it was this year.

This year was different. We made a weekend of it and had a lovely time. DS was a love.

Your DH sounds lovely Silkie.

Yorkshire Puddings look good and so long as they taste good that’s all that matters Lovefall. Usually you would use plain flour ( all- purpose flour) lots of eggs and not open the oven door until ready as that usually makes them flop like pancakes. www.bbcgoodfood.com/recipes/best-yorkshire-puddings

Controversially I’m not a huge fan of Yorkshire pudding. Originally they were made as the filler of the meal as meat was so expensive and it kept workmen fuller for longer.

DS not well he had a high temperature just then.

I hope that your DS is OK now Lemonsandlemonade.

DD2 fell during the race yesterday. We were getting anxious when almost all the children had past us near the finish line and she hadn't. She attends athletics twice a week for 2 hours a time and has sport at school twice a week so we knew that she wouldn't have walked the race. Anyway, I had a word with the official man on his bike who was following the stragglers and he said he'd ride the circuit to find her. Two minutes later he came back to say that she'd had a fall and the firemen had taken her to the first aid tent. Poor thing. She was in tears and quite badly bruised but nothing broken.

Hope that all goes well with your treatment Silkie.

I'm glad you had a happy first Mothers Day Lemons. My first pregnancy needed some help and I remember feeling the same as you.

Math, we're getting the same arctic cold front here. It was -7C here this morning and windy. It feels like January has returned.

Makiwa, I hope your DD2 is doing better today.

I think the only way I'll be able to try Yorkshire pudding is to make it myself, as I've never seen it on a restaurant menu. It's not really pudding though, is it?

Happy belated Mothers Day everyone! I was working in the morning then we had a Lego marathon session and a walk in the afternoon. It was nice.

I just spoke to an educational psychologist about DS and his needs! Very exciting as they’re like unicorns - I only cried a bit. Another step closer to getting some support, I hope 🤞

Welcome, @BlackeyedSusan, and thanks for sharing your gardening news. This is the perfect time to put in raspberry canes. They grow wild where I live and have at least a half dozen behind my house. I love fresh raspberries but they are a lot of work to pick.

In the summer it's common to see people picking them at the side of the road here.

Spudlet, well done with the educational psychologist. Testing will likely be the first step.

I spoke to someone today about the prospect of our MAC employing an educational psychologist. The schools would then ‘buy’ time from them rather than buying LA time. Hopefully this would make them a bit less unicorn like! We can only afford 4 days per academic year at the moment and could easily fill 12.
