Plans still going well al I’ll say but happier than I’ve been for a long time. Had to test for covid in this house this week both have summer colds negative for covid though.

HelenaJustina · 06/05/2022 19:08

Great news about the seats, well worth the investment to celebrate your boy.

MissConductUS · 06/05/2022 20:45

Helena, the uni has an academic coaching program that is brilliant and very supportive. DS really benefited from it, so we made a gift to the program. We were planning to do so anyway, so win-win all around.

My alarm went off at 5.30am today and I left the house with DC3 at 6.35am. She is performing at the Copperbox Arena in Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park this morning. I’ve had 3 coffees and could do with another tbh.

DrBrennerFan · 07/05/2022 11:59

phoned up sky on off chance got told contract end in June so cancelled the lot thrilled one less thing for me to worry about things are moving slowly but so cleverly I’m thrilled less money going out and no need for him to do it he’d be hopeless at this so all sorted now.

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 07/05/2022 20:20

We finished setting out the plants on the terasse including an excel sheet for amounts of water, sun and fertilizer needed (yes, I am like that).
And I changed the duvet covers from "fluffy wintery" to "cool summery".

DrBrennerFan · 07/05/2022 20:49

Mentally exhausted I’ve spent the day saying you’d still get free channels through the sky box hasn’t believed me until he read it himself, I’m worn out with him thank god Banished is on I’ll watch that then talking book got rid of audible found an apple app that lets you buy the book as you want them no subscription things are getting there.

DrBrennerFan · 08/05/2022 14:43

I must say hi to everyone and send best to all I who are I’ll and suffering hugs to al of you.

MissConductUS · 08/05/2022 15:00

Thanks DrBrennerfan, hi back at you. 😀

My insurance approved the MRI my rheumatologist wanted, so I've booked it for next Friday night. I'm really hoping this finally identifies the cause of my sciatica.

Today is Mother's Day in the US, so happy Mother's Day to all who are celebrating. I'm just back from church. It rained all day yesterday so I was cooped up inside. I may pot some plants and do some gardening today.

More stuff sorted by email only now in his name I’ve told him it’s your email so it’s yours the tiny amount just comes out once a month transferring my emails over to another account.

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 08/05/2022 18:50

Hello from here!
We have mother's day, too, but do not celebrate + the sun is shining + my terasse looks quite pretty. The bees have started to come, so all fine.
I am (tentatively) happy to say that the office bbq, the fête de la musique, the expolingua and my 60ties birthday might actually take place.

I go-e they do and you enjoy them. 🤗

IWanderedLonely · 08/05/2022 20:08

Evening all,
I hope everyone's had sunshine today?
We've had mostly sunshine. I slept for 12 hours last night😱I don't think the a HRT is working for me, though th Dr did say it takes up to 3 months, so I need to be patient.
I bought a book from The Works today for £1. Called "Dead Famous" It's a out historical celebrities as far back as the Bronze Age.
Prok when is your 60th?

KathieFerrars · 08/05/2022 20:19

Lovely weather today so washing warming and flapping on the line. Fluffy hound has had a good walk before things got too hot and has spent the day either basking in the sun (she's wearing a furry duvet!) or sitting in the shade. She's spark out now. I found shorts for adult DS1 in Tescos for once in a 30 inch waist, which is a major achievement. Tomorrow is DS2s final degree performance for their directed piece so off to watch that.

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 08/05/2022 21:04

Iwandered it is in July - but lots of things can happen in 6 weeks and it will be a very small celebration anyway.
Kathie alle the best for your DS

Silkierabbit · 08/05/2022 23:24

Prok Hope everything will go fine for your 60th.

Kathie and Helena Hope the performance goes well.

Happy Mother's Day MissC and anyone else celebrating. Hope the MRI goes well.

All the best for the surgery DrTwo Keep us updated.

Glad you had a good sleep Iwandered

Thanks very much Half, Math and Lemons

Love to everyone else.

Wed had bone scan, quick only a few minutes and open and not too bad though had to go alone as no parking again. Thursday was bloods for chemo and oncologist. She wants to do 8 more chemos weekly and to try first this Monday with cannula again then if difficult go to picc. She said can do blood clot tablets rather than blood clot injections if get blood clot and says about 10% go on those.

Beyond depressing what is happening for poor DS with schools and SN, basically there are not enough school places in his year and no school wants another SN child as they have to pay £6k out of their non-existent budget but its just heartbreaking when every school in the county says they won't help. LA also won't help, just general staff training is all he is eligible for and a free school all of which say can't meet needs. CAHMS after 4 years waiting said he is too severe and just sent him e-mail links to try and cure his own mutism and autism. Spoke to GP and she says they are "shit everywhere and unfit for purpose but only option there is" Had meeting with current school Head, meeting next week with other mainstream who are opposing him going but LA says will force and the third school who say 20% chance of place in Sept but he has to pass tests and cannot say until Sept.

DD getting ready for GCSEs and said that if Mr Floof arrives Thurs night rather than Sat she will do so much better so that has been brought forward. I called children's services in desperation for DS, no idea if they can help or I just created a whole level of new stress for myself but they may come round house and so we did a bit more clearing of things. Plumber coming to fit new sink on Wednesday. So chemo Mon, IPSEA, mainstream2 and special collection out on Tues and children's services say if can help, Wed plumber, visit Red Balloon, counselling assessment, Thurs counselling and mr Floof. And have Head from current school and LA complaints meeting. Hoping can stay awake for those. Then DDs GCSEs start on 16 May.

DD was worried DS was not eating enough so she got a big Tiramisu and gave him some and was very proud of herself. Then she went for a second portion herself and saw it had all gone and she said it was a massive one and DS ate half of it and she was Hmm DS. Grin

MissConductUS · 09/05/2022 01:18

Prok, your roof garden looks fabulous. That spot gets good sun.

Silkie, sorry about your difficulties arranging school services. It was like that here until New York passed a law requiring school districts to budget for and provide services for all special needs students. If they don't the parents can sue them and the state can cut off all state funding, so they really have no choice.

DD gave me posh chocolates and DS gave me some baking kit for Mother's Day. DH got me flowers and more posh chocolates, so I'm going to take some to work to share.

It really feels like spring here. I can't believe that in two weeks DS will be back with us for the foreseeable future. He and his roommate went into Boston today to see a baseball game so he did the weekly family Zoom call on his phone. I'm so glad he got to study where he did. Boston is such a lovely, old and historic city. DD had a crew race this afternoon. She's been promoted to the varsity boat and her team did very well. I'm taking driving up to pick her up at the end of the week. One thing I will not miss after DS graduates are the trips to Boston. DD's uni is much closer, 2,5 hours vs 4-5 hours.

Lemonsandlemonade · 09/05/2022 06:39

Children’s Services may be able to help your poor DS Silkie as if you managed to get a disability social worker then you might see things move forward for him. At least where I live disability social workers seem to be like magicians and magic solutions from thin air, even if they are hard to come by.

Had lovely time with DH and DS. Saw family this weekend. DS slept in his travel cot which was super as last time ( although much younger) he didn’t sleep really just screamed!!

DrBrennerFan · 09/05/2022 06:53

I’d love to go to Boston in the fall as you call it also the Ether Dome at Boston Memorial Hospital .

MissConductUS · 09/05/2022 16:36

I have been to the Ether Dome. It's hard for us to imagine the time when surgery was done without general anesthesia. Lots of patients refused it, understandably. GA, vaccines, and antibiotics were the three innovations that really revolutionized medicine.

By the way, the Ether Dome is at Massachusetts General Hospital.

DH mowed the lawn yesterday for the first time in two weeks. He's really looking forward to DS being home, as he normally just does part and pays DS $20 to do the other part.

Finally on rest days, though only 3 as back in early for a training day 🙄 Nice to catch up with all your news eventually!

Passport now showing as printed and awaiting dispatch, I may leave the UK yet!

DS's student finance almost complete. The online calculator tells us that he's likely only to receive the basic maintenance grant. Apparently we fall into the middle ground where we're not so rich it's not a problem to make up the difference, and not struggling enough that he gets the full grant <sigh>

Mortgage company are playing silly games and my broker has submitted a complaint. The worst that will happen is that we will need to find an extra £2k which, while not ideal, is still doable. Given the house is not built yet I am happy to let things take their own sweet time for now.

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 09/05/2022 18:16

Silkie I am sorry for your DS - it is, as DS would say, "sub-optimal" I am usually not that polite. DS needs to find a new psychiatrist as he soon will fall into the adult category and I need to get him "in Lohn und Brot" as my DGM used to say. But - he has NO interests apart from gaming and reading.

Silkierabbit · 09/05/2022 23:58

Glad you had a lovely time Lemons

Hope you can get a good psychiatrist Prok

Exciting your DS will be back soon MissC

Did chemo number 5 today so feeling shattered with the piriton, its like 2.5 of them at once. They used a cannula again and said it was super easy. So think 6 will be like that too, just need to drink loads, I normally do but was so rushed at 4 I did not drink anything before, had just come back from puffins trip. EHCP, likely to be useless, appeared today so at least have final version and it said starts 6.6.2022, not sure it that is the number of the devil for me or an asd friendly date.😂but it works, its after half term so 3 more weeks at current school. It did say providing transport if I fill in form then 2 weeks so did that tonight.

Tomorrow 8.30am ipsea the legal charity, then new school at 12pm. May hear from children's service to see if they can help or if they will add more stress. Then ordered special collection for 9 sacks and 1 bin. Discovered on way back from hospital 3 rubbish sacks in garden, hmm DH. And he was an hour late collecting me from chemo and felt ill as needed to be lying down but then the nurse insisted we wait for the doctor though am like that every week and just needed lie down and food. But home now. DH has cleaned dining room carpet and kitchen a bit so he is trying.
