Silkies I’m glad you saw puffins, seals and rainbows and that the problem with the car was resolved and that it led to you meeting lots of really lovely people.

@lovestreet, I’m so sorry you’re out enjoying your holiday very much. I hope things improve for you very soon.

DH dug up and established plant in the garden for me so I could plant a rose bush there. We were both more than just a bit tired afterwards.

MissConductUS · 17/04/2022 13:55

Happy Easter! 🐇🐰🐣

I'm at church waiting for services to start. Smile

Have to go to work because for some reason hospitality can't shut for Easter Sunday

HelenaJustina · 17/04/2022 15:30

Sounds like a real adventure silkie! Glad the accommodation is top-notch.

Happy Easter all! We got back from the Vigil Mass at 11pm last night and still made 9am this morning. So proud of my big two who altar served at all the Triduum Masses plus this morning so beautifully. Really seamless and prayerful. We’ve had a huge lunch and a walk and now hanging around while DC1 sets up their traditional egg/scavenger hunt. It involves really complex clues and takes them hours to prepare, the other DC love it.

MissConductUS · 17/04/2022 16:31

Welcome, @Sapphireskies, and thanks for sharing your mundane but still annoying work scheduling news. Earlier in my career I had to work a lot of holidays too.

Helena, well done to your DC! Altar service is not as easy as it looks. My service was lovely as well, and our first in-person Easter service since the before times. My DD shocked me recently by telling me that she's attending church while away at uni, so now I'm wondering if she went to Easter services.

Wow Helena well done on your DC I know it’s a big job even if I’m not overly religious myself .

I hope everyone had a good Easter Sunday.

DS astounds me with his eating sometimes he just gives things a go. Today he had goats cheese and leak tart with pomegranate and red onion salad roast beef dinner and cheesecake for pudding. He is small with a small waist but eats really well.

IWanderedLonely · 17/04/2022 20:56

Happy Easter all!
We're in Wales on a short break, but I walked to St Trillo's Chapel this morning and sat in solitude for a while. Strange how really old places of worship have a special atmosphere.

Also managed my first sea swim of the year. It was bloody cold but brilliant.

Lemonsandlemonade · 17/04/2022 21:01

Hope you have a live trip up North Wales
Iwondered. I live all the castles round those parts.

You’re right about old places of worship. I always feel so calm.

Silkierabbit · 17/04/2022 21:07

Happy Easter all. We are now back home, about 5.5 hours back but light traffic. Car had a car wash. Sadly could not persuade DS to do the same, someone needs to invent a child car wash. Grin

Well done to your DCs Helena

DH is now telling DD all about his car adventure.

Next chemo tomorrow at 11am, but at least all neuropathy has gone for now and bruise on arm is much better so they may be able to get cannula in again.

Well done lemons on your DSs eating. My DS was a challenge to get to eat and drink on holiday though today he ate a full English and hot chocolate before we left. Yesterday he ate the dinner of cooked ham, mashed potato, broccolli and chocolate mouse (I had treacle tart with cream). He refused breakfast that morning, he hates breakfasts with menus.

Silkierabbit · 17/04/2022 21:22

And when we got back rabbit had land grabbed massively from the silkie and DD had just left it, we have now restored the balance.

Champagneforeveryone · 18/04/2022 12:27

My only child, the light of my life and the person I am most proud of has a hangover. A very bad hangover.

He vomited when presented with a slice of dry toast.

DH and I are naturally not extremely sympathetic. He has managed the toast, several glasses of water (sipped like a maiden aunt with a small sherry) and some paracetamol and is now playing the guitar. Gentle tunes on the acoustic guitar rather than his usual electric guitar repertoire Grin

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 18/04/2022 12:56

Champagne Grin

Both my semi adult DC prefer to drink water (no coffee, no tea, no alcohol). It is not a protest because DH and I seldom drink and never too much. Hmm

MissConductUS · 18/04/2022 14:53

Champagne, let us hope that your DC remembers this the next time one of his mates wants to play drinking games at the pub. As I am teetotal and DH is nearly so I have never witnessed mine drink, but who knows what's gone on at uni.

No joy looking for ducks on the reservoir this morning. I think I have been duck ghosted.

Thanks Silkie working with a child with a sensory eating disorder has set me up I think with food and DS. I hope your DS enjoyed the holiday it sounded lovely. Hope your chemo went well.

Had an impromptu treat today saw two of the SEN children that I’ve had in setting in the past and they are both doing so well considering. Spent some time with them was so proud!

Silkierabbit · 18/04/2022 21:41

You must be well proud Champagne Grin

Hope ducks return to you MissC

Glad the kids are doing well Lemons

Had chemo today, they struggled to find a vein as can only use 1 arm now (some dispute over that but hospital say best not to use other one due to lymphoedema risk and certainly don't want that). They want me to have a PICC line fitted. DH then went to collect DD from nearest city as she wanted to be collected. Got 2 lots of washing down and cleaned downstairs bathroom. I think the scales said I put on 3 pounds this week though possibly was 1 pound but I dropped 2 pounds at start of chemo so only a 1 pound gain overall and its probably all the lovely food when we went away. I was worried as so many said gained lots of weight on chemo but I suspect a lot of that must be comfort eating, can't say I blame them but don't want added weight.

I thought I posted a review of the B&B on their Facebook but actually posted it on DHs Facebook Blush and DH had not told some people we were going as doing chemo and they don't know and they will wonder why we did not go to France (can't with chemo). Within minutes SIL had liked the post. Though SIL does know though DH says she is funny about cancer, her friend with cancer said SIL dumped her when she had it, she told MIL. SIL sent DH a message to say there is his rubbish in their house in Normandy she bought him out of as she wanted to own it and can he remove it. Its like one boot full Hmm, not great timing for that request. Looks like mostly all binable stuff but DH is very precious with his things.

Silkierabbit · 19/04/2022 12:56

When we were away and DD stayed here we got a message I never expected to receive from a teenager you are not allowed to use the outside recycling bin until it is collected as I have filled it with 5 bags from my room. Shock Must have got very bored as we also did not have washing up mountain like last time. I said to DH do you think if we went for longer next time the whole house could be done? Grin Very impressed anyway, she seems to have plans for an at home gym in there from her messages.

MissConductUS · 19/04/2022 14:13

Fabulous news. A lone male duck appeared on the reservoir this morning. Sorry for the poor quality of the picture. He was right in the middle of it so quite far from where I was standing. I think my next iPhone might have to be one with a fancier camera and telephoto lens.

Silkie, that is encouraging news about your DD. At our house DD's room is always neat as a pin and DS's looks like a bomb went off. He would sometimes pay her $5 to sort it out for him.

Glad one duck is back!

Took DS to a lovely park today in a village. It was newly put in just before lockdown one and covid.

The park is amazingly well thought out. And have lots inclusive equipment from a selection of swings to a wheelchair accessible roundabout.

HelenaJustina · 19/04/2022 21:52

A great playground is a thing of joy lemons I speak as a connoisseur of many hours spent in them a nearby coffee outlet maketh the outing glad you both had a good time.

I had a household wide blitz on Good Friday silkie so much so that we had to utilise my MiL’s bin as well.

MissConductUS · 19/04/2022 23:08

A good playground is key. We have some really nice ones near us, but unfortunately, DS fractured his tibia at one when he was five years old. He was a trooper about it. I took him straight to A&E.

I've just opened a new 20-pound bag of sunflower seeds for the bird feeder, which is mobbed these days. The local bird population must be thriving.

The lawnmower shop rang DH to tell him that the mower is fixed at no charge. He can't pick it up until Saturday. The front yard is looking pretty shabby. Fortunately we have no VIP visitors scheduled. Smile

Champagneforeveryone · 20/04/2022 09:16

There is a new playground under construction near to us that puts anything I ever took DS to to shame. I'm secretly rather sad he's too old for it if truth be told!

We are also using bird food at a great rate, the seed of choice at the moment is sunflower hearts which I had no idea were so expensive 😣

Sadly DS's room cannot be described as "neat as a pin" though efforts will be made over the next week or so as Grandma is arriving as guest of honour for his 18th. She's then ferried off to the train in order to make room for a battalion of teenage boys who will be staying the night, followed by a night "in town", a prospect that fills me with a certain amount of trepidation.

HelenaJustina · 20/04/2022 09:26

Lazy morning here, but need to do some chores and get on…

Sounds potentially messy champagne! My sister is coming to stay for a night on Friday, which is also going to involve tidying of a bedroom.

Silkierabbit · 20/04/2022 10:30

Got first lot of ESA money through today, 15 weeks at once so £1100 which is great must have given them right bank details and covers all cancer costs to date and will be at least £77 a week going forward though 28 page form, assessment and 2 pages for GP to fill in for that and awaiting their special envelope. PICC line to be fitted on Monday then chemo same day.

Glad a duck returned MissC.

Good luck Champagne.

Glad nice playground Lemons

Hope Thursday went OK DrTwo

Hope this does not crash again

DoctorTwo · 20/04/2022 20:09

Thursday went almost according to plan: unfortunately different departments didn't communicate with each other properly, so instead of getting a CT scan and necessary blood tests all I got was the scan. So I have to wait for a verdict as to whether or not they want to operate or not.

You can tell I'm getting to that age when everything starts to fall apart; a telephone diagnosis of symptoms I have had for a week tells me I have a hernia. It's more painful than I thought it would be, and has left me with an unsightly bump of pain in my stomach and more pain whenever I walk.

I'm your bitter sweet bundle of misery, to misquote Graham Coxon.

MissConductUS · 20/04/2022 20:16

I was walking around the reservoir this morning and ran into a woman who walks at the same time as I do and I have become casual friends with. We discussed the duck situation and we talked about the ducks who lived on the reservoir last summer. What she knew that I did not was that there were two duck families on the reservoir who didn't get along and who tried to drive each other out. It sounded like it had the makings of an AIBU on ducksnet.

DD was wrong when she said that her summer internship was unpaid. I found this out when a payment showed up in our checking account this morning from the college. So now the question is do we give DD the excess after paying her summer room and board charges or hang onto it for her fall tuition charges?
