Hi, just that really. I've never had a supermarket delivery before but at home with Covid so its a godsend.
How much do you tip the driver? The only similar deliveries i get are takeaways where i tip around £3, but my shop is a lot more so would i look tight?

I'd never consider tipping a supermarket delivery driver. Do you tip your postman?

Caspianberg · 18/03/2022 06:38

Erm, none?

Doidontimmm · 18/03/2022 06:39

I’ve never tipped either a takeaway or a supermarket delivery driver Hmm

Picklerickflag · 18/03/2022 06:40

Are you using the supermarkets online service or something like Uber eats to get it delivered?

If it is directly through the supermarket, a lot of drivers won't accept it/have rules about accepting it. So I don't tip them. If its uber eats or something then give what you usually would through the app.

tothemoonandbackbuses · 18/03/2022 06:45

I don’t tip the supermarket delivery drivers.

All supermarket delivery drivers I know gladly accept tips which range from £2 to £10 on/off all year.

Christmas tips are usually pretty good and postmen get a lot more in tips that time of year.

GeneLovesJezebel · 18/03/2022 06:46

I don’t tip them. Would never consider it.

Chocomelon · 18/03/2022 06:47

I have never thought to tip them.

CurlsLDN · 18/03/2022 06:47

Nothing

Pegasussnail · 18/03/2022 06:50

Only had delivery once during covid and didn't tip as we paid a delivery fee.

musicalfrog · 18/03/2022 06:52

Never tip.

goldensilver · 18/03/2022 06:53

The only place I ever tip is in a restaurant and that's not 100% of the time.

Have never even thought of tipping supermarket drivers. I do always say a big thank you and wish them a lovely day.

GoldenGorilla · 18/03/2022 06:53

We get almost everything delivered. I have never tipped delivery drivers unless it’s Christmas time, or it’s an especially massive heavy delivery and they carry it inside for me. Then I hand over a £5 or £10.

It’s really not accepted or normal to tip on a normal grocery delivery.

GoldenGorilla · 18/03/2022 06:54

I do offer them a bottle of water on hot days but that’s it!

wildthingsinthenight · 18/03/2022 06:54

Never tip

Waxonwaxoff0 · 18/03/2022 06:55

I don't tip for anything in this country.

TheRealHousewife · 18/03/2022 06:56

When I started online food shopping years ago I used to tip £2.00 but then stopped as the delivery men themselves were telling me it wasn’t expected and nobody else ever did. What I do now near Christmas or on a particular heavy shop is buy an extra item like a posh box of biscuits or chocs and write a note in the box provided they are for the picker/deliverer.

If I’ve baked that morning they might be offered a cupcake or cookie. I always offer a small bottle of water on hot days.

marqueses · 18/03/2022 06:57

They are employees doing their job, you don't tip them. I've never had a takeaway delivered but if I did I wouldn't tip the driver, is that the norm?

Burghwallis · 18/03/2022 06:58

This has never crossed my mind and I tip cab drivers, hairdressers, restaurants and also the bin men and my cleaner at Christmas so I am not anti tipping!

Lady0racle · 18/03/2022 07:04

Tipping supermarket deliver drivers isn’t a thing!

knittingaddict · 18/03/2022 07:05

I tip hairdressers, waiters and takeaway delivery people. I do not tip supermarket delivery drivers. They are employed on a very different basis to takeaway deliveries people and it would feel odd to tip them.

Whitefire · 18/03/2022 07:08

It is potentially putting them in a difficult position, so no you don't tip.

Candlecassie · 18/03/2022 07:09

We have the same drivers most of the time. If that continues I’d give them something at Christmas but that’s it.

SallyWD · 18/03/2022 07:13

I've never tipped either. I don't know anyone who does. I am someone who always tips for other services (hairdresser, taxis, restaurants etc) but it doesn't seem appropriate to tip the groceries delivery driver.

drpet49 · 18/03/2022 07:17
