Report in the Guardian that she has had her passport returned and that a negotiating team are in place.

Too early for celebrations but I have got my fingers crossed behind my back.

So she's flying into Brize Norton from Oman and the PM is in Saudi today? I hope for both their sakes the plan isn't to bring them back to the UK together. There aren't enough in-flight refreshments in the world to make that conversation go well.

Oh, scrap what I wrote above then - was going on previous information about the flight being from Tehran.

It would give Boris Johnson a photo opportunity he would very much want but does not deserve.

Either he imperilled a British National detained abroad by blurting out a judiciously suppressed truth, or he made a stinking great error of fact in a diplomatically explosive situation and harmed the chances of a British citizen coming home

I don't think the Iranians needed Boris to justify what they were doing, to be honest - it's a bit like the Truss remarks over people going to fight in Ukraine allegedly encouraging Putin to increase Russia's nuclear readiness. He was an idiot, but I don't think it made one iota of difference. She was just an unfortunate pawn in their schemes.

I hope no other dual nationals make the mistake of going to Iran - if they want to meet family it would be much safer to do so in a third country.

The poor woman is likely to have a great deal of significant mental trauma that she’ll need to work through with her family. She may be free soon but the impact of this will be with her for a long time yet.

She wasn't teaching journalism.

She was an admin person for a charitable organisation that does that - booking flights etc.

She was in Iran on holiday to see her family, nothing at all to do with her work.

I hope she sprays him in the eyes with duty free perfume, then sabotages his parachute while he's blubbing and pushes him out of the plane over the Persian Gulf. He still wouldn't have the first appreciation of what she's been through.

Tulip Siddiq is being interviewed on BBC Radio 4 right now. Also Nazanin's sister-in-law, Rebecca Ratcliffe. Well worth a listen on BBC Sounds thingy.

I must say, I'm very impressed by Tulip Siddiq.

Plus the lifelong affect on her daughter. Questions such as will she be able to see her parents again?

We are all keyed into it now but I hope a veil of privacy will protect them.

I don’t think they’ll parade her in front of the cameras like they did with the Beirut hostages and so on. We’ve learnt a lot since then.

Hopefully she (and her husband and DD) will get access to really good therapists too. It won’t be easy for any of them.

A flight from Tehran was due to land at Muscat an hour ago. Hopefully they were on it and are now out of Iran.

Fantastic news I hope she and her family are left in peace

Of course Johnson will use this anyway he can the man has no thought of his actions

I would imagine at the moment her thoughts are to be with her family and at home and little more than that.

But it’s politics too so unfortunately regardless of Johnson making the situation worse she will be used as PR for both countries (and there is her family to consider who live in Iran)

What an ordeal this poor family have been through

What a lovely photo. At least on the surface she looks healthy. On a side note her daughter is her spitting image, both absolutely beautiful.
