Report in the Guardian that she has had her passport returned and that a negotiating team are in place.

Too early for celebrations but I have got my fingers crossed behind my back.

Elika Ashoori said on Ch4 News last night that she shares a bond with Gabriella that very few people can share, having a parent imprisoned for no reason. That was very touching.
She also repeated that the British govt told her to keep quiet about her father. Still astounded they let it all get this far, the wheels of diplomacy grinding slowly or not Angry

RonniePickering · 17/03/2022 09:10

Oh man I'm blubbing like a baby at that video, how she keeps kissing her daughter 😭

purpleboy · 17/03/2022 09:11

Oh god that video, hearing her crying when she saw Gabriella, I think it's the most tragic and beautiful thing.
So happy they are all back together. 💚💜🤍

TanteRose · 17/03/2022 09:43

Oh my goodness that video!

So emotional

PatterPaws · 17/03/2022 10:32

So many people have waited so long for this moment. 🥰😭

24hoursfromtulsa · 17/03/2022 10:45

Thanks for posting that video, just blubbed all the way through it!

I was awake at 1am (Covid), and saw on here and on flight radar that her plane was about to land. I just had to get out of bed and switch the tv on to see them come down the steps and walk on the tarmac. So emotional. I've followed her story from the start and have dreamed of this day but was terrified it would never come.

The world has had so much terrible news recently, and I personally have been going through a really difficult, horrible time in my life - Nazanin finally coming home has been the most welcome amazing news Smile

Italiangreyhound · 17/03/2022 10:49

Amazing

CaveMum · 17/03/2022 10:53

Well that video has wrecked me. To hear her sobs as she held her daughter reduced me to a blubbering wreck, I can't begin to imagine how she felt.

I hope they can be left alone to bond and reconnect as a family now.

AlexaShutUp · 17/03/2022 11:08

Yep, I just cried through that video too. They have been through so much. I hope they now get the space and privacy that they need to adapt and start to process what has happened to them.

HRTQueen · 17/03/2022 11:15

Such wonderful news

There reunion should have been private it’s such a personal moment but her life if public and political

Let’s hope they are left alone

JayAlfredPrufrock · 17/03/2022 11:18

Heard it played on Woman’s hour and found it really intrusive.

ScribblingPixie · 17/03/2022 11:19

I'm reading this morning that Joe Biden blocked a deal to release the Brits last year because it didn't include the third 'hostage' who has Anglo-American citizenship. I honestly don't get the love for him, I think he's an appalling president. If it's true that Liz Truss gave the go ahead to negotiate bilaterally then thank heavens for her & shame on us for kowtowing to the US last year.

To be fair, Elika Ashoorichose to film and broadcast that footage, and I presume that Nazanin's family must also have agreed to it as well. I must admit, I was glad that Nazanin's actual reunion with Richard and Gabriella was off camera though. It was a deeply personal moment that we have no right to share. I'm so happy for them and I wish them all well in the challenging days ahead...it will be a huge adjustment and their ordeal is not over yet by any means.
BlueSpottedGiraffe · 17/03/2022 11:24

I would imagine that Elika had permission from all involved to film live, they will have been in regular contact with Anoosheh and Nazanin throughout the day.

The room had also obviously been purposefully set up so that Nazanin could be reunited with Richard and Gabriella off camera.

Blossomtoes · 17/03/2022 11:30

Such wonderful news. That video was so tasteful with all the focus quite deliberately on the Ashoori family.

Musomama1 · 17/03/2022 11:33

What a fantastic thread, updates on the flight path through the night and honorary cups of tea brewed.

Amazing day to have them all reunited.

I'm so tired today because I stayed up to watch her plane get in safely and I've run out of coffee! 😴

DelphiniumBlue · 17/03/2022 11:59

Thanks for the live news links last night, it was such a joy to see her get off the plane and finally reach Britain.

HRTQueen · 17/03/2022 12:04

The pressure would be there to make it public it’s expected especially after the issue being so political

I think that’s a real shame this is a deeply personal moment in their lives that we have absolutely no need to be part of (by viewing)

It doesn’t raise awareness it just allows us all to fee part of their journey (which we are not)

PerkingFaintly · 17/03/2022 12:05

This morning just want to send hopeful thoughts to Morad Tahbaz, the British-American-Iranian conservationist, who is still in Iran but has been released from prison.

May he too have a homecoming soon.

Who are the dual nationals jailed in Iran?
www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-41974185

And the same to the other non-British dual nationals held captive: Siamak and Baquer Namazi, Emad Shargi, Ahmadreza Djalali, Fariba Adelkhah, Abdolrasoul Dorri Esfahani, Kamran Ghaderi, Massud Mossaheb, Nahid Taghavi, Karan Vafadari and Afarin Neyssari.

HRTQueen · 17/03/2022 12:05

Anyway it’s good news and let’s hope they all get the privacy they so deeply deserve and so importantly need to rebuild their lives

That’s strange … where did you read it.

I read that too, it's in The times, sorry no link, I got the newspaper, and several others.
