Report in the Guardian that she has had her passport returned and that a negotiating team are in place.

Too early for celebrations but I have got my fingers crossed behind my back.

Yes, I think there's usually a few private jets flying higher than the commercial traffic.

Heronatemygoldfish · 16/03/2022 22:28

Yes that makes sense. Thanks.

And with a bit of luck that also means that it can go that bit faster and get them home quicker, too.

Titsflyingsouth · 16/03/2022 22:36

I think it's likely it's the Titan Airways plane. (Titan Airways are an airline that supply 'late notice' planes for hire to airlines and Governments. We flew with them once when our scheduled plane developed a fault and the holiday company had to fish around for a last minute alternative.) The U.K. Government probably chartered it as soon as they realised Nazinin's release was on the cards....

Why isn't this in active threads?

FairyLightAddict · 16/03/2022 22:38

It's first in active threads for me.

Horological · 16/03/2022 22:38

As soon as I posted that it wasn't in active threads it appeared there!

HeadacheGrey · 16/03/2022 22:44

Flying over Hungary now.

lemans · 16/03/2022 22:46

We stiffed Iran for £400m and didn't pay it back. Someone was or wasn't teaching journalism in a country where that reeeaaally isnt a good idea. Our exceptional Boris lets the cat or not cat (schrodinger's? cat) out of the bag then badly non-apologises for it. A woman locked up, a family put in extreme distress. UK digs it's heels in, Putin kicks our heels out from under us and suddenly all is well in the world, because, you know, oil.

JayAlfredPrufrock · 16/03/2022 22:48

Money talks.

DesertStorms · 16/03/2022 22:50

Yes, it’s disgusting. A woman’s life ruined, not so bad. No oil, gotta do something.

TheOnlyMrsMac · 16/03/2022 22:51

I don't usually track flights either, unless you count Santa's Sleigh! With the flight getting in so late, I expect Gabriella will be asleep despite the excitement and emotion. It must have been quite a day for her, at not yet 8 years old. I know they are staying away from home for a couple of days. I wonder whether they will wake her tonight, or just let her wake up in the morning to find her mummy there.

TokyoSushi · 16/03/2022 22:51

Off to bed, will hopefully wake up to some lovely news in the morning!

DesertStorms · 16/03/2022 22:52

There’s no way Gabriella won’t be awake for this. It’s something she will remember all her life.

Britain shafted Iran when oil was discovered there. Mossadegh tried to nationalise Anglo- Iranian oil company ( BP) and was met with a British orchestrated coup. There is a lot of bad blood. Boris was really loving shafting Nazanin playing the colonial dick/ clown/ Estonian POS role he loves.
eglantine7 · 16/03/2022 22:55

Etonian

JayAlfredPrufrock · 16/03/2022 22:56

I imagine they will meet her off the plane.

GiantKitten · 16/03/2022 23:03

Bless her heart, she'll be off school tomorrow, for sure!
TheOnlyMrsMac · 16/03/2022 23:07

Just approaching Austrian airspace. It feels like they're nearly home.

GiantKitten · 16/03/2022 23:07

@Heronatemygoldfish

What's got me is how high the plane's flying - 40,000ft. It's higher than the vast majority of other planes.

I've randomly clicked and haven't found anything else higher than 38,000ft.

Her flight from Tehran was at 42000 feet. I thought that was unusual too, until I clicked on some of the many others around the Gulf and quite a few of those were over 40000 too.

I think higher uses less fuel or something?

bonfireheart · 16/03/2022 23:08

Richard said they're spending a few days together away from home, pretty sure their daughter will (rightly) be off from school.

Oh good, I really need to go to sleep, big meeting in the morning, but it's like you want to personally welcome her home.
