The International Cat federation has banned Russian cats and Russian bred cats from competing. Good call!

Russian cats as in bred by Russians, or Russian breeds? Have they banned all the Siberians?

zafferana · 03/03/2022 12:00

Well that should really make Putin sit up and take notice Hmm

Sparklingbrook · 03/03/2022 12:06

I'm not sure that's going to make a huge difference to proceedings.

Putin definitely would be a cat person. You can tell.

WouldIwasShookspeared · 03/03/2022 12:10

Cats owned by russian people in russia or cat breeds with russian origins?
It'd be sad if Mabel in Eastbourne can't enter the competition with Frank, her lovely little donskoy.

wearingtheT · 03/03/2022 12:10

It might make a difference if every organisation did it. I'd like to see Russian products removed from supermarkets too. Hit them where it hurts.

Boood · 03/03/2022 12:10

No, authoritarians are always dog people. They can’t cope with the insolence from cats.
ofwarren · 03/03/2022 12:10

Hmm, that seems a bit over the top.

GiltEdges · 03/03/2022 12:12

Nope. Very much a dog person it would seem, based on a quick Google.
garlicandsapphires · 03/03/2022 12:12

He likes dogs apparently

Shehasadiamondinthesky · 03/03/2022 12:17

Were the cats planning on invading Poland?

ZenNudist · 03/03/2022 12:19

Hit them where it hurts.

Honestly it's depressing.

DropYourSword · 03/03/2022 12:20

The obvious solution!

ThatsNotMyGolem · 03/03/2022 12:21

I'm sorry but that is absolutely pathetic.

Ghastlyghoul · 03/03/2022 12:21

Were the cats planning on invading Poland? . I wouldn’t trust mine to not be planning that.

MotherCupboard · 03/03/2022 12:23

Nah he's got a Labrador apparently. He used it to scare Angela Merkel (i think it was her) in a meeting because she's terrified of dogs.

LemonViolet · 03/03/2022 12:27

I honestly thought this was satire! But nope it is actual news.

(The DM headline is nonsense - no “moggies” compete - these are pedigree cats, and it’s the breeders competing really not the cats themselves).

Meh it’s just another international competition refusing to entertain entries from Russia - same as all the sporting events being cancelled really.

WheelieBinPrincess · 03/03/2022 12:29

Well Crufts could follow suit I suppose, and stop Russian competitors?

rottweilersrock · 03/03/2022 12:32

Crufts have already banned Russian competitors.

KaptainKaveman · 03/03/2022 12:34

Putin IS a dog.

BarrowInFurnessRailwayStation · 03/03/2022 12:34

Everyone suffers because of Putrid Putin 🤢

SommerTen · 03/03/2022 12:36

One of my friends had two Siberian cats. They were gorgeous but sadly had inherited heart problems.
Strangely enough for Siberians they also didn't like the cold.

I always think of dictators with fluffy cats by their sides like Dr Evil from Austin Powers.
But Hitler actually had an Alsatian for example.

BarrowInFurnessRailwayStation · 03/03/2022 12:39

Putin looks like the type to have nasty little yapping ankle biters 😖

zafferana · 03/03/2022 12:42

No, authoritarians are always dog people. They can’t cope with the insolence from cats.

This^. No way could an authoritation cope with the 'fuck you' attitude of cats. They need the fawning adoration and desperate need to please of dogs.

GizmosEveningBath · 03/03/2022 12:50

Hmm, this virtue signalling seems to be tipping into xenophobia pretty quickly. I feel for the innocent Russians who have had nothing to do with Putin's actions.
