Russian moggies banned from competing

The International Cat federation has banned Russian cats and Russian bred cats from competing. Good call!

It's not as clear-cut as that though. USA have been prodding for a long time.

The only think the West could have done differently is to rule out Ukrainian membership of NATO and the EU. I don't think refusing to do so is 'prodding' but either way it doesn't justify invading another country.

I'm sure they'd have something to say if russian bases were installed in a neighboring country.

Ukraine doesn't have US bases, it had Russian bases and was broadly friendly to Russia until they invaded Crimea.

Our media is heavily censored, just like russia, although we believe otherwise.

We have access to hundreds of media outlets, from scores of countries, most owned by private companies or non-profits, competing to scoop each other. Dozens of them have reporters on the ground.

Who controls all these millions of people well enough to fake a war and keep it quiet? How is it you are the only one who knows?

It's ridiculous. I'm all for sanctions against their government and the oligarchs but it's spilling over into xenophobia affecting ordinary Russian people. I heard a man on the radio this morning who said that his 8 year old son is being bullied (his wife is Russian). That's awful but it's starting to happen.

Sadly sanctions have to affect the masses. It’s very difficult to target the elite few. Good to see Apple making a stand.

Putin is definitely a dog person but he apparently made a brief exception for a kitten gifted to him by a scantily clad and very young model. He also is fond of posing in the height of macho fashion with big cats.

Huh? Cos I feel the war is to the advantage of nobody but the wealthy (ie not the people fighting it) then that means I don't care about the poor people fighting in it? Fucking hell

I assume PP thought you don't give a shit because you disagreed with sanctions, suggested the war is made up or organised by 'the wealthy' and implied Russia was justified because of 'US poking'.

My uncle's got a few bob, I'm going to tell him off for organising all this next time I see him.

Being excluded from international sporting and cultural events (Moggies/ Paralympics/ Eurovision/ Football World Cup...) cumulatively hits the national ego and influence and downgrades the nation from its superpower aspirations.

I don't want ordinary Russians to suffer, but the course has been set by the leaders that they have little say or influence in. If Putin's influential supporters oust him over sanctions and endorse a more moderate leader that can rule peacefully with its neighbours, that's probably a win for ordinary Russians.
